The phrase "more mountains" comes up in Lolita during Humbert's sort of catalog of their travels through America. Part two chapter two for the LanaBoards book club lel. Almost definitely a reach because it's such a small phrase (in context: "Distant mountains. Near mountains. More mountains; [insert detailed list of mountains]") but it's sort of interesting to note.

Learning that this song was really just a fantasy somehow makes it that much better. It's more troubling.
Aw I wonder if she knows or would visit

I have one master playlist called "Miss America" that I listen to chunks of at a time, with like 86 songs...I won't share that.
This one is called WHITE PONTIAC HEAVEN, for the in-between era of Sirens-AKA:
Pin Up Galore
The Man I Love
Trash Magic
Jimmy Gnecco
Disco
You're Gonna Love Me
1949
Methamphetamines
Elvis
Pawn Shop Blues (Demo)
Axl Rose Husband
Get Drunk
Fordham Road
Rehab (Demo)
This one is SPARKLE JUMP ROPE QUEEN, it has some of her quirkier and more offbeat songs:
Mermaid Motel
Diet MTN Dew (1)
Playing Dangerous
Birds of a Feather
Smarty
Hundred Dollar Bill
Lolita (2)
Moije Joue
The Man I Love
Put Me in a Movie
Come When You Call Me America
For K Part 2

Brite Lites
This one is DADDY ISSUES, for twerkin' (what I imagine her pop debut would have looked like):
Kinda Outta Luck
Ooh Baby
Hey Lolita Hey
Daddy Issues
Prom Song (Gone Wrong)
Paradise
Dum Dum
Dangerous Girl
Push Me Down
Gogo Dancer
She's Not Me
Butterflies
Backfire
Digging that Florida Dark playlist and stealing it.

So here's why it's unfortunately about Lorde
Life is awesome, I confess - Responding to Lorde's criticism of portraying a glamorous lifestyle that no can relate to. She confesses it's awesome, I guess. What I do, I do it best You got nothing, I got tested And I passed, yes - In the game of alternative female pop singers, Lana professes that she does it best, and this amplified by the fact that she is successful even despite being "tested." She passed the test of public scrutiny, while Lorde didn't because she was immediately successful. Sense the jealousy here tbh Lay me down tonight In my linen and curls Lay me down tonight Riviera girls - I know Lorde has curls etc but I think this is just a pretty nonsense Lana phrase. Of which she is full. I fucked my way up to the top This is my show - Like it or not, kinda of a "nanana boo boo" in the face of Lorde's feminist message I'm a drag and you're a whore - A little trickier. Maybe this is Lorde talking to her? Bc I can't see why she'd call Lorde a whore. Don't even know what you're good for Mimicking me is a fucking bore to me - As far as mimicking, look to her new interview for the significance of the hip-hop sound of this song: "I would say the track having more of a hip hop heavier beat, whereas the rest of the album is live and organic…it kind of drives this one particular point home." Hip-hop influence is important here, something she and Lorde share. I mean plenty of sewer rats on LanaBoards.com have attempted to (unconvincingly) compare their sounds, and maybe Lana is surrounded by too many yes men and she believes this, too. Need you, baby, like I breathe you, baby Need you, baby, more more more more - Here's the breakthrough and what's been getting all of us hung up. Why portray some kind of romance in a diss track? So we turn to Gaga, who likely fucked her boyfriend based on "So Legit"...but the rest of the equation doesn't match up. I think this part is mocking Lorde's particular gripe with "Without You": "She’s great, but I listened to that Lana Del Rey record and the whole time I was just thinking it’s so unhealthy for young girls to be listening to, you know: “I’m nothing without you.” This sort of shirt-tugging, desperate, don’t leave me stuff. That’s not a good thing for young girls, even young people, to hear." This line portrays exactly that desperation that Lorde was complaining about. So is it a good look for Lana? No. But this shit is about Lorde let's begin facing that. -

I'm just looking back over this thread and Jesus Christ if I had a time machine I'd definitely go back to 2007 to retrieve For Charlie and Dance Money. Then live a double life and film all her performances while a younger me goes through school without even knowing about this stuff available to download that he'd someday crave in 2013.
Ugh like it's one thing that Roses or something is under lock and key but this was AVAILABLE jbgdsbjgsjk. Must avoid this thread.

Baby has a broken heart
She can’t belong to only one
Until another girl is found
I don’t pay for anything
My cigarettes or diamonds rings
My feet don’t even touch the ground
Chariots of gold
I ride with Jay-Z, Jared Leto
I’m a superpower
Now they call me the tornado
I got roses in my hair, I belly dance and do the tango
Sometimes I get lonely, everybody told me no
No one lives forever, but that’s no reason to give up
Don’t you wanna fall in love?
No such thing as heaven
And I’m the last girl on earth
So baby, let’s get it on
Cleopatra used to rule
But she got nothing on me now
‘Cause I’m the last girl on earth
I turn the television on
They only play my favorite song
Since I’m the last girl on earth
Chariots of gold
I’m sitting, sipping cherry cola
Caesar said he’d fall in love with me if I was older
I own all of Mexico and I got my own roller-coaster
Sometimes I get lonely, millions can hold me now
No one lives forever, but that’s no reason to give up
Don’t you wanna fall in love?
No such thing as heaven
And I’m the last girl on earth
So baby, let’s get it on
I stay up late at night, try not to think about it
Pretend I’m happy, ruling all the world without love
I get so tired being on display somehow
Sometimes I get lonely, millions all own me now
No one lives forever, but that’s no reason to give up
Don’t you wanna fall in love?
No such thing as heaven
And I’m the last girl on earth
So baby, let’s get it on
No such thing as heaven
And I’m the last girl on earth
So baby, let’s get it on

The extra lyrics and gentler vocals make this song suddenly feel so intimate I can't help but think of this and Wayamaya as two sides of a coin. I can just imagine her and her man driving to the Jersey Shore but pretending they were going Hawaii and coming up with their alter egos Lana and Ray This also really clarifies a lot of the ocean references in other songs, too; of course she created such a strong association with this first love who is still in her stage name today
I also never really got the "Ray and his girls" lyric but with all this in mind it kinda makes it seem like he's telling her about this fantasy they've created together.

BYE I sincerely doubt she'd have a better reaction to you objectifying her (which she is so outspokenly against like tf!) than our obsessive appreciation of her craft.
Dedicated ass reading our whole thread and keeping a catalog of our behavior to try to throw back at us though who's creepy?

cheaptrailertrashglm liked a post in a topic by Sitar in LANALYSIS: Relating Songs To Known/Assumed Relationships
Okay here's why we're on a forum for Lana Del Rey doing Lanalysis and not Taylorswiftalysis. Most of this stuff is up in the air, as much as many of us accept it as fact. A majority of this thread is discussion of intuition based on stuff that Lana has handed us. The invasive stuff like Facebook posts is unfortunate, but it would be negligent and unrealistic as fans to ignore stuff once it's there in front of your face. Beyond that, I'm wondering what you think is too personal to discuss? Gogo dancing? Addiction? Sleeping around? Famous boyfriends? Most of that stuff is derived from her lyrics.
Gogo dancing:
- I'm your gogo dancer.
- Watch me dance for other guys.
- Disco, gogo dancer so rare.
- Motel singer or the silver pole.
- All the men are watching, the crowd is cheering.
Drug addiction:
- Get Drunk
- A GQ interview she knew would be published
Sleeping around:
- Making Out
- I know your wife, she wouldn't mind
Famous boyfriends:
- I said hey, Jimmy Gnecco, I like the way your name echo (a name drop if I've ever heard one)
Yeah, this list includes leaked songs, but note I didn't cite any examples from her very personal home demos.
I understand where this thread makes people uncomfortable but to that point I'd recommend avoiding it. Many people do. I can only tell you that the intention is to only use information that's on the world wide web in this thread, despite a wealth of other sources, including but not limited to interaction with some of the subjects on the part of our more zealous members.
I hope you find an appreciation for Lanalysis but if you don't I hope it doesn't continue to bother you too much. Hope I helped illuminate something.

Damn this thread only coming across my radar now...But interested in this bunch of stuff!
Curious about Josh and what confirmation we might've gotten of this since again I haven't paid attention in a long time!
Highkey I gave up on it long ago because I'm a perfectionist and it's a kii the amount of speculation in the original post when all these men that were confirmed to be associated later on were never mentioned in the early days. But stuff like this makes me long for the free time I had as a 17 year old to piece everything together again.
Sorry for the bumps guys somehow the Wild One leak led me here! That Mike name-drop....

What do you guys think of "A pin-up in the lonely sky" versus "I been up in the lonely sky"?
Anyway, I think it's really clever how she plays on the definition of a pin-up girl with "You can pin me up if you like"--like, you stick butterflies with pins. Anyway.
