pinupgirls Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Im not sure if you all knew this or not, but one of Lana's favorite places, Coney Island, was destroyed along with many other important buildings in NYC due to Hurricane Sandy. I wonder if Lana is upset? There are talks about them rebuilding everything, but even still I don't think it will have the same timewarp effect it had. It almost seemed to take you back in time. Lets use this post to honor it, and the beauty it had. Many other amusement parks were destroyed as well. Please keep all victims close to the heart. 3 Quote

Matt Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 They'll definitely rebuild it. It's a main attraction in NY. Shout out to your gorgeous new set. Marilyn is beautiful. It's a shame, I wanted to go to Coney Island (considering I live outside NYC) many times after I started listening to Lana's music this year, and my parents promised to bring me, but they never did - too late now. In a way though, I think Lana touches upon a fading Coney Island in her music rather than a Coney Island in it's golden age. So I think, even if destroyed, it still is influential on Lana for the sole fact you're looking at the 'ruins' of a bygone era. That's my opinion. 4 Quote

NEAL Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 Felt a pang just by seeing it. Lana would prob. be so.. bereaved by it. 0 Quote ..but believe me when I say that the surveillance we live under is the highest privilege compared to how we treat the rest of the world.
YUNGATA Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 I'm so saddened by this. I obsess over New York and have close friends who live there and love the city as much as I hope to one day. I have an emotional stake in New York and looking at the pictures really makes me want to just roll over and sleep until it's all better. 0 Quote
pinupgirls Posted November 4, 2012 Author Posted November 4, 2012 Its just kinda sad because it harbored so much history and stories. I know its still there, but its really not "there" like it use to be. Im sure tons and tons of antiques are now lost at sea. I hope that when they rebuild it(if they do) they at least try to make it look older and as original as possible. 0 Quote
evilentity Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Lana probably also spent a lot of time at other amusement parks in New Jersey that got hit even harder than Coney Island. According to the description provided by a YouTube user who uploaded "Trash Magic" as "Miss America", Lana said: I don't know if i changed the name- i think i called it Trash Magic in my notebook, but also miss america. i was staying at the sunset motel in new jersey off and on every other couple of weeks. i decorated it with tinsel from the duane reade up the street and wrote this song.. it still makes me happy. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe she's talking about the Sunset Motel in Seaside Heights, NJ which is in spitting distance of several amusement attractions destroyed by Hurricane Sandy, including Fun Town Pier and Casino Pier, the hardest hit. The pictures you've seen of the roller coaster in the ocean are from there. 2 Quote Stalking you has sorta become like my occupation.
