ilovetati Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 Because we have nothing else to do. I keep imagining a textless, borderless shot of Lana in front of an LA landscape or cityscape. Very 90s and simple but soft and pretty as well. Examples coming @@honey dew posted this in the other thread and I adore it 13 Quote
ilovetati Posted February 14, 2019 Author Posted February 14, 2019 I posted these in the main thread as well. Love this Mamas and Papas shoot in the canyon desert and an abandoned bus/house. -- Mazzy Star from the 90s Sofia Coppola 6 Quote

ilovetati Posted February 14, 2019 Author Posted February 14, 2019 --- Since Lana is using a lot of LA industrial district images, something inspired by Antonioni's Red Desert could be interesting. --- And I am always down for Lana bring out the Lynchian vibes (from @Arcadia and @khris): --- But inb4 the Chucky ruins everything with some amateur mess 11 Quote

Beautiful Loser Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 People seem to really like the idea of replicating a Norman Rockwell painting but I’m not into that at all. It feels uncreative to me and his paintings don’t have much to do with the message of the album? Elle Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 And I am always down for Lana bring out the Lynchian vibes (from @Arcadia and @khris): Wow, these covers are so gorgeous! Kudos to the artists. I would love a cover like this.. it would also keep up with the theme of Lana having a car featured in each of her album covers. Plus she's talked a lot about how this album features some good driving music.. so it would match the overall theme and aesthetic of the sound of the album x 7 Quote • 4.18.14 • 5.1.14 • 9.20.14 • 5.28.15 • 6.14.15 • 7.28.16 • 7.24.17 • 10.23.17 • 10.24.17 • 1.25.18 • 2.5.18 • 12.5.18 • 10.3.19 • 10.11.19 • 11.16.19 • 8.6.23 • 9.21.23 • 10.1.23 • 5.17.24 • 5.19.24 • SF • ATL • ATL • IND • ATL • CHI • LDN • NYC • NYC • DC • ATL • NYC • PDX • SAN • KS • CHI • AL • MD • AL • AL
YUNGATA Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 images are acting weird rn but if the album was aesthetically inspired by Persona (Ingmar Bergman) I think that could look really nice. Though I know the fanbase craves colour and no more b&w 3 Quote

I'm with you, particularly when the title is referencing living in the shadow of the ego of a male artist. She said there's some merit to his self-love, and Norman Rockwell's painting were mostly seen as a low-brow. I don't think recreating a NFR painting would really reflect this concept so well. 2 Quote

I think people are disregarding the fact that it's called Norman Fucking Rockwell because the title track is about a guy who thought of himself to be as legendary as Norman himself. Of course Lana can have Rockwell tidbits in the songs, but the album doesn't represent him nor is it fully fledged in vain of him, so I really wouldn't like a cover stylized to seem like one of his paintings, it just wouldn't seem fitting! 3 Quote
Beautiful Loser Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 Someone mentioned the picture by Chuck with Lana (Lizzie) sitting in that trashed kitchen and I would LOVE it if that was the cover art but I guess it’s not realistic to use such an old photo... I love that picture though. I wrote recently in the pre-thread that I think that a (white?) booklet with just embossed letters would be kinda cool but I think I might be the only one who thinks that. http://lanaboards.com/index.php?/topic/10278-norman-fucking-rockwell-pre-release-thread/?p=738549 2 Quote ♥ Please spell out acronyms, I can’t figure them out anymore. :’ )

I could put a dictionary audiobook on shuffle and put it to an instrumental of old money and some of y'all would still be saying it's 50/50 lmfao.

iphone11 Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 I really think this cover will be inspired by some of Norman Rockwell's paitings. Maybe something like Melodrama's cover... Not my favorite idea, but it's what I think is going to happen. 0 Quote

salvatore Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 im a phucking chump and i unironically adore those poverty-porn stills she's posted on instagram with people slapping 'norman fucking rockwell' on top of it, there's that one vintage-y edit of the hills with the mcdonalds sign that i fucking LLOVE then there's the black n white typewriter + jet photograph that i like there's so many good fanmade covers this time around and idk if it's cause the standards are lowered beneath the earth's crust or if it's bc NFR gives off such a realistic and industrial vibe that simple yet human photos capture the era's essence without trying, whereas LfL and prior was very much so surrounded by some type of glamor and artistic direction while NFR has fucking nothing 4 Quote Thoughts on Yosemite.

salvatore Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 i also don't know if i just like those types of photos bc i always have, like the gas station pictures from LfL were my absolute favorite to look at so in terms of NFR "aesthetics" i haven't had much of an issue, i would like more photoshoots and official pics to grab from though 6 Quote Thoughts on Yosemite.
