Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass

I went to a party

I came in hot

made decisions beforehand

my mind made up

things that would make me happy

to do them or not

each option weighed carefully

a plan for each thought

 

But then i walked through the door

past the open concept

 

and saw Violet

            bent backwards over the grass

7 years old with dandelions grasped

                                   tightly in her hands

arched like a bridge in a fallen handstand

grinning wildly like a madman

with the exuberance that only doing nothing can bring

waiting for the fireworks to begin

 

and in that moment

I decided to do nothing about everything

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

forever.

Do we know who Violet is? 

 

Perhaps it is HER as a child,

or someone else´s child she noticed playing once.

 

After seeing this child , playing, innocent and carefree, simply playing with no cares in the world,

waiting for the fireworks to begin, grinning ever so happily,  she thought also to be carefree like a child.

She had her head filled with so many thoughts and things to do (Each option weighed carefully, A plan for each thought)

After seeing the child, she just decided to do nothing about everything. 

 

" Take it as it comes , baby , you´re moving way too fast. "

This other poetry line comes from a Doors song, which I would not be surprised if

Lana was listening to this particular song , when she wrote her poem.

Imagining a visual image of Violet bent backwards over the grass is a little terrifying to say the least.

Is no one else getting like exorcist vibes from this? The first thing that comes to mind of a girl smiling in a backwards fallen handstand is that lil girl from the exorcist but instead of on stairs shes on like the grass in lana’s backyard or something
