Unreleased songs you thought you were older/newer than they are

For me -

 

1. I am just finding out Tonight (also called I Don't Wanna Go) is recorded in 2012, I thought it was recorded in like 2009

2. For a long time I thought Making Out was produced by The Flight in 2010

3. The first time I heard French Restaurant I thought it was a Lust For Life outtake.

Well tbh I always associate Because Of You with early UV / Tropico and I refuse to believe it’s more of a Born To Die song.

not that i assumed that these songs were older, because obviously we knew from the start that they were from 2012, but i find it so interesting how all of the 2012 laptop demos (i talk to jesus demo, 80s baby, the devil, connection, sweetheart) don't sound any different from her laptop demos from 2007, 2008, and 2009

for some reason i thought pink champagne was from late 2012 rather than 2013 which doesnt make any sense but oh well

making out the sound is straight from early 2010 yet the song is from december 2011

also bbm baby, the song had always been knows as april 2011 song but i always imagined it to be from mid 2010 and like 3 months ago we found out the song is actually from june 2010 OPRAH

i was surprised when we found out Pink Champagne was made in late 2013 not late 2012 and i was Also surprised that it was recorded after Madly

i was surprised when we found out jimmy part in aw is from 2018 not 2022

Your Band is All The Rage apparently being from 2006 has always seemed so strange to me.. it feels much more like a 2008-2009 track, especially since it has a similar vibe to All Smiles & Super Movie which are both from 2009 x

i don't personally believe it's from 2006, it seems way more likely to me it's from 2009, just by how her voice sounds, the way she wrote the lyrics, and even the audio quality of the recording

Go Go Dancer seems like it would be from like 2007 or 2008 so I was shocked when I learned it was from 2010

maybe it was just speculated back in 2012 and people just went with it? i feel like now we have way more knowledge of every year of her music and can more easily pin-point when a song was recorded, maybe people just thought it was 2006 because it was rough-sounding and acoustic

it's interesting to me that the million dollar man demo is from august 2010! i would've thought it was from 2011

Songs like Motel 6 Vicarage and Caught You Boy have always felt like Lizzy Grant songs in my mind while Us Against The World felt so clearly Lana. So naturally I thought they were done in different years. Wrong- I found out they we're all recorded by the rurals in 2010 and probably all from the same batch  I don't know how I never picked up on the similar productions between all of them. From production alone its clear they were done at the same time but it just didn't register in my mind  

 

Also I love The Rurals and how they recorded all those songs. They feel so nostalgic to me and I love all the songs they touched

Tbh the whole 2010-2012 time is such a blur because she was starting to work with professional producers but still working with some from her earlier days, while trying out new stuff but still sticking to the classic Lizzy sound so if all kinda blends together

Okay yeah, literally I ALWAYS mix up Never Let Me Go and Tonight. That's exactly why I think Tonight is so old.
