Crazy Husband Thief Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 Whenever I think of how to re-arrange a tracklist, I separate the album into groups that I feel male sense sonically or thematically. In recent times, this has been popularised by artists like Taylor Swift where they release an album as mini-EPs that tell a certain story. I think Lana's albums work very well for this and I would like to read some of your ideas/concepts. Here's a rough idea for Born To Die: SIRENS (The duality of the word: sirens of police cars, indicating a crime or the mermaid serenading her love interest and luring them to death) Born To Die Blue Jeans Dark Paradise LOLITA (The songs evoke a strong imagery of a young girl living in NYC and escaping with her much older sugar daddy to go to Las Vegas) Lolita Diet Mountain Dew Off To The Races OPULENCE (These songs are perfectly represented by the National Anthem video. Lana being both, Jackie O AND Marilyn) National Anthem Million Dollar Man Without You PARTY GIRLS (The story of two girls who have a deep connection with each other but fall victim to alcohol and drug abuse and thus get separated) This Is What Makes Us Girls Carmen Summertime Sadness BITTERSWEET (Finding happiness through a fulfilling relationship or through fame, although both with a slightly bitter taste because everything comes at a price) Video Games Lucky Ones Radio 8 Quote
Embach Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 I wrote a similar thing like this about Lust For Life a couple of months ago: On 6/17/2023 at 12:26 PM, Embach said: THE MODERN MANIFESTO OF LUST FOR LIFE - EXPLAINED! One of the things I figured about Lust For Life was that you can split the album's songs into 4 "EPs" (since the album has 16 tracks). First 2 EPs are combination of her older sound and aesthetics, describing the world inside Lana. Last 2 EPs are combination of her newer sound and aesthetics, describing the world outside Lana. Also I noticed that in the end of Lust For Life trailer, she said in the monologue: "Because you, and the music, and this place, are my LOVE, my LIGHT, my LUST for LIFE." So, I split the songs into 4 "EPs" and named each "EP" after those keywords based on the themes. EP LOVE 1. Love 2. Lust For Life 3. 13 Beaches 4. Cherry EP LUST 1. White Mustang 2. Summer Bummer 3. Groupie Love 4. In My Feelings EP LIGHT 1. Coachella - Woodstock In My Mind 2. God Bless America - And All The Beautiful Women In It 3. When The World Was At War We Kept Dancing 4. Beautiful People Beautiful Problems EP LIFE 1. Tomorrow Never Came 2. Heroin 3. Change 4. Get Free 9 Quote
