LDR10 - Pre-Pre-Release Thread

I think the theories can be fun, but also I'm not in the mood to really microfocus about being excited but. I think both things can very much be true in how the previous music can always be referenced in the future.

That being said, I do think that the key to understanding the music, direction and where that can lead isn't in the dressing, the stuff surrounding previous stuff so much, but actually the song itself.

Lyrics that u might be confused about, little references that u don't think to look at for so long.

they just fly away - reference to the right person will stay
tell em that his cowgirl is gone/ lonely singers ride to Houston/ no workin it out, no way - prettiest girl in country music ref?
the over it energy of the song, coupled with being fed up, means there's got to be a song about the high of it, or what that surrounding splendor of it is, with the man who flies too close to the sun.

the problem/ conflict being intro'd in the song is her leaving Henry. which means, there's got to be a better fit for her when you couple and reintegrate the concept of the right person staying, despite the album name change, even if it's just her.

though I do think dangerous, in your blood, strike like lightning, hold the hand of the man is strongly linked to referencing text book, thunder and norman fucking rockwell tracks, which interestingly enough, is something she might be putting aside as well as thematically with Henry's subject matter being covered in the song.

It's funny how people who want more upbeat/trap/pop Lana usually hate lust for life, peppers, fishtail, dark but just a game.

Also sometimes I think I'm the only person who love bb album, it's usually my top 2 during fall/winter season. The only album I didn't get connection with was COTCC, idk why, I don't hate it (like white dress and Yosemite are in my top 10), but tbh I didn't want ldr10 to be second COTCC(or to sound exactly like some of her previous projects, cuz I love how all of her eras are unique).

And I love that she moved to another direction and added strings and that Henry sounds happier than ob. If blue bird is in the same world as Henry and she also adds songs like the mirror it would be a perfect summer album. I actually want to hear 1-2 classic country songs. I love lyrics "his cowgirl has come", "all the country singers...", I saw people calling it's stupid, but I really wanted Lana to add these simple country inspired lines about cowboys, horses, wild west.

If along with country we'll also get some southern gothic sound or visuals then it will be one of her best work I think. Because I love how she sees country, I love that even though it's country it's still done in Lana's style, I love that she was inspired by Disney, I don't get people, who call Henry boring, I love that she's working with different producers and trying to make some songs without Jack (I'm not his hater btw), because this is when artists usually discover new sound, experiment and get out of their comfort zone. I love that she's really happy and excited about her album and that she took time to make it perfect. And I guess we'll see the visuals and get the pre-order soon and manifesting double mv video for Henry and blue bird🙏

"It's funny how people who want more upbeat/trap/pop Lana usually hate lust for life, peppers, fishtail, dark but just a game."

As a example of a fan who appreciates more upbeat/trap/pop Lana, I'll take this one.

I personally like Doin' Time, High by the Beach, Off to the Races, Summer Bummer,  Don't Call Me Angel (at gym), Summertime Sadness, etc.

If we're speaking about recent output, then I'll go with Tough, AW outro, SYTH (Anyma Remix), Taco Truck.

I don't imagine Fishtail, Peppers, or Dark But Just a Game are on on any pop/trap/upbeat lover's radar very much. They're just not that great (though I appreciate Dark But Just a Game a lot more than the other two, I'd hardly classify it as either trap, or pop or upbeat).

As much as I’d love that, not to burst your bubble but I don’t know where does that theory come from, that the last song on the album is the key to the next one… The last song she recorded for the album can give us some hints at the mindset she was in in terms of production, but it doesn’t mean it’s the last song on the LP. And even that, I don’t think it’s a perfect theory tbh :true:
a couple of examples

- Candy Necklace has some « country ish » elements in the music’s bridge that could hint at this album, I guess.
- Sweet Carolina (I think it’s the last track put together for BB) is very family-oriented, and piano driven, something she went on on OB.

- What was the last track put together for Norman? :stareney2: Or Chemtrails?

- Change opened the door to some of her piano ballads on the more minimalistic side of Norman.

Most of my comments here are just for fun, but I'm happy with your detailed response

Deep down I hope that her flirting with trap ended on Tough

This might be unpopular but just hear me outtttt- I kinda hope the album has something similar as her Coachella outro from last year. I know she’s changing the name which also prob means the cover, but it has the same feel as that outro imo. Makes me think of the ending of a romantic black and white old timey movie

I keep hoping for this, the day the releases a jazz/blues album the world will be healed :legend:

I don't care how fast or slow the new album is, or what genre it is, I just want it to be interesting. I didn't love Blue Banisters because it was mostly piano ballads with vocal errors all the way through... So many tracks on OB were slow ballads BUT they had rich, layered instrumentation and interesting chord progressions and her vocals were properly recorded and mixed.

I’m gonna have to disagree on this one, my main issue with OB is the mixing, it’s so bad, there’s always an issue with her vocals in almost every track, her being 10 feet away from the mic while singing kintsugi, peppers…, also she sounds muffled in A&W, grandfather, and Margaret, and don’t get me started on fishtail, I love all these songs, but the vocal mixing are bad, and it’s not a coincidence all the songs I mentioned were produced by Jack, he didn’t touch henry & we saw the outcome ( crystal clear vocals ), thank god he’s not involved in bluebird either.

Wait, we're getting distracted from delulu :squidward:

Based on the theory that the final track (TTxVB) is the key to the next album, we can expect a transition from a simple guitar part (Henry + demo version) to a bombastic trap beat album, which samples the best moments of her discography (hello past, present, future/the mirror) :et:

And if we don't do a double mv, we'll definitely get a double album!!

That's all I wanted to say :stareney2:

Well the theory has more to do with the album/song themes than the sound :et:

Blue Banisters ended with Sweet Carolina and Ocean Blvd started with The Grants, I think the themes here are self explanatory. With Taco Truck x VB, a very carefree song about haters and her just flaunting her legacy with the Venice Bitch demo after spending most of the album musing on the thought of being forgotten, I mentioned before that the Fenway Park song could be the album opener since both this song and Taco Truck mention Lake Placid. If not, we could expect a song that could compliment Taco Truck's themes and Lana has never had a bad opening track :teehee:

I just hope the mixing will not be as muddy and messy as on OB.

And before someone hits me with a snarky "tHaT's a CrEaTivE dEciSioN, u dOn'T gEt LaNa's viSioN" - it's very much possible to have low-fi sound without it being anticlimatic and incoherent. The way songs on that album are mixed with a different volume is so annoying.

Just do it. Just do it - don't wait!

Oh the way you just clocked DEOWNNNN

Ocean Blvd was borderline ruined by poor mixing and mastering, I’d rather have an album with simple production and good mixing than another Ocean Blvd

Im still not fed up by her trap songs but I hope we don’t have one of this album. Although, like you said, I’d love anything that would channel Taco Truck :oprah9:

True but I preferred it as a standalone single.

By the way, it wasn’t targeted at you per se, but it’s just something I’ve seen quite often these past months and I thought people had kinda mixed up last song on the record and last song recorded :kiss3:

When asked if Cowboy Carter was country, Beyoncé had a genius and very true answer: « It’s a Beyoncé album. »

Although we’ve only heard Henry, so far, id say the same applies to Lana: it’s a Lana album :true:, what her version of « country » or « Southern gothic » is

I like variety, and that is why I liked Ocean Blvd. I think this album needs to expand from its country base just a bit into trap, if most songs were like Henry it would start to drag.

I'm sort of hoping the variety extends from the Western American Standards to the Southern Gothic/Darkness of the song she debuted in Fenway and maybe Zodiac

I feel like this album will be very cohesive tho

And I'm not against it

Just like I'm not against an album with variety

Both can be amazing

Both can be a mess/repetitive

Like to me chemtrails was a very good cohesive work

I honestly don’t know if I want it to be cohesive since I loved so much OB, which wasn’t really. But if the songs were done over five years, I expect maybe just enough diversity but not too much, if it makes any sense :stareney2: like I don’t expect a Tough but some more upbeat-ish country / folk songs alongside Henry

If I could tattoo 111’s post on my forehead i would

OB is her ninth studio album and after a decade in the game she managed to outdo the majority of her work. She clearly pushed herself when it came to the topics she discussed like legacy, family, and grief.

I also love sirens. I listen more to that album more than blue banisters. There’s something really nice about the simple guitar and it really shows off her songwriting and tendency towards folk even at a young age

Born to die just revisited the top selling titles this week, #47 based purely on purchases (according to forbes). She has established herself time and time again and she’s expressed that ocean boulevard was difficult to write at points.

I’m excited to hear the record because I think it’ll be a nice mix of these two albums in particular.
