The possible tracklisting reshuffles make me believe that, even after the release, we'll see leaks of tracks or how the project would have turned out in each of its attempts, making the album debatable for years to come. What I most hope for is for the album to have a body and a distinctive and interesting identity. She had it on her last homemade albums, but I want something more tangible, especially when we have stars, swamps, alligators, burning houses, and country boots. Besides, it would be extremely natural. So, let her immerse herself in this new aesthetic. However, the main factor that makes me believe this WON'T be like that is feeling Lana's own vibes. With NFR, she was clearly enthusiastic throughout: she couldn't help but post snippets, sing on Instagram, and smile since Mariners. Now, when she talks about the album, she seems completely disinterested and unhappy. Maybe it's even like Blue Banisters, where she just lets go and lets go. I don't want to disappoint, but the singles MAC and Venice Bitch were much better received than Henry and Bluebird (93 and 95 compared to 80/80 on aoty.org). I expect something better than LFL or BB, but not much and it's probably a number smaller than Ocean Blvd (unless she has a few more surprises and hasn't played her best cards yet). 10

But that was a different era altogether, and Lana's doing a Country album and at this point, I think most of her fans, and certainly her stans, know that. The current stage set and new songs will certainly trigger questions in the minds of those who might be looking for some earlier iteration of LDR. Even here, a lot of members were unenthusiastic about a Country album, but it seems to me that most have changed their opinion after hearing the new songs. LFL was plagued by last-minute, quickly written and recorded songs that, in my opinion, were below her standard, but we've seen a few of those on some of her other albums, and BB was compromised by the inclusion of ripped copies of previously leaked material. Maybe we haven't heard the best the new album has to offer yet--I hope we haven't. For the casual LDR fan, just hearing "Lana's attempting a Country album' may be a big turnoff, and perhaps those fans haven't bothered to give 'Henry' or 'Bluebird' a listen. 6

Now, when she talks about the album, she seems completely disinterested and unhappy. Maybe it's even like Blue Banisters, where she just lets go and lets go. As I recall, her comments during the long, long wait for NRF! were often confused and even apathetic, as when she said she didn't know when it would come out in response to a fan's question. Sure, she released the snippets, made more of an effort to produce cover art, and made several videos, but I don't recall Lana herself speaking jubilantly about NFR! I agree about the opportunity her new surroundings represent, and we've already seen that in the lyrics to 'SFOA,' 'QITS,' and 'Bluebird,' so I'll expect we'll hear more. She's already mentioned the bayou and alligators, so I don't expect more lyrics about either. But Spanish moss, maybe? Hot and humid? Zdeco? Airboats? Swamps, generally? 7
Trash Magic Posted July 13 Posted July 13 Bluebird I think it's one of her best vocal performances ever. Just a perfect pretty song. 12 "It's 2011, and we should all be aware of exactly how fast technology is developing" - Lana Del Rey

rancidgirl Posted July 14 Posted July 14 did something happen to lana because why did i see a post saying “this album is about to be a posthumous release” and everyone was commenting question marks and like “delete that’s not funny” like they weren’t wishing death on lana they were just saying she’s never releasing the album so i’m confused like is she in the hospital rn or something…… 1 the last rancid girl in a rancid world and i don't seem to mind
DontMakeMeSayItAgain Posted July 14 Posted July 14 What’s actually so wild is we’re in a very similar situation as last July: wondering if an album is coming in September (rip lasso) August’s pretty much out - too soon for a proper rollout. That leaves September or October. I just don’t see her dropping anything between November and February. 15
robster Posted July 14 Posted July 14 imagine she drops the album in december. i feel like she’s the type and considering her idgaf era it’s not out of the question. 4

It’s honestly been so long since she first started teasing it that her label may (big maybe here) have to release it in one of the months that aren’t usually the best for an album release, like January or maybe even December (would be very unusual for sure) 7

Considering Lana's loyal cult fandom who always buys and streams her stuff (especially vinyls) plus also considering that if she's the only mainstream artist releasing one of those months, that it might go successfully for her. 6
