in honesty, I'm not really sure what the song's controversy was about cus idk it was a different time but. like a mindful but, I feel like when you sort of just zoom out of the focus of it, maybe there's something of like a satisfaction element in the song that helps you like release something in it's expression so maybe that's it?

I don't think anyone really cares outside the internet, and I'm sure it's obvs people won't really shame you for thinking it's catchy cus it was designed to be that way. 
so I guess, when it comes to this, I think if you're being smart about like why ya wanna listen to it, empathetically speaking, no one would really care so much about it irl. maybe just find that kind of perspective that lets you detach from it but think it's like a critique on it being playful or something who knows there's some right to be found in it, but ultimately, don't beat yourself up for it ya know. 

like I'm guessing it's about sex or something, so I guess just remember there are types of people bein like hypersensitive about things, but then u also find out they're doin dumb shit in the bathroom or caught in complicated love situations so they just do that to feel better about themselves. like, I think u'll be ok ya know?

I remember Blurred Lines being controversial because of people thinking the lyrics were rape-y. If you look it up there was a lot of contention surrounding this.

I don't believe in guilty pleasures. I don't feel guilty for enjoying any of the music I do; you're limiting yourself if you do, because it's just music - but I guess I do enjoy a lot of songs that people hate. Big Foot is one of my favourite Nicki Minaj songs

Oh yeah no I don’t feel like it’s to the attention of what’s like being on topic w now. Meaning, society probably already decided it and if that’s true well I think we all know a general consensus of it and what’s wrong about it so on, and act accordingly. 
 

but, I do think that in the grander scheme of things, a random person who listened to the song and liked it and felt bad already? I don’t know, like, not to sound cold, but I don’t really think it matters all that much if at all. 
not condoning bad obviously, but people are just like various and wide when it comes to behaviors. You could have someone alluding to this, but then also there’ll be others who are really into this one thing that might not be so conventional but in reality, it’s like their inside joke cus it’s been made popular but it doesn’t actually mean to take it literally. It really just depends, and we can’t police everyone for every little thing, bc we feel that we have to be morally clean all the time. 
I get it, but also, I don’t think life is meant to be lived so confinedly when you can’t make mistakes. 
It really just depends on the comfort level and how a joke is formed or alluded to around it. Obviously Nicki’s not Chun Li, but we sing along that is, she’s not. 
 

Imo, the person thought it was catchy, they already felt bad, we shouldn’t have to go super higher moral authority on that, it’s kinda giving holier than thou religious which is a whole paradox, but hey, it happened, no need to shame them, I don’t think they actually want to be doing that. 
 

wait until ya hear about some people’s fantasies, like the truth of the matter is, some of em are just plain, well. The point is, it shouldn’t be an automatic end all be all. People just don’t work like that.
 

And obviously it’s wrong, but more so, the whole opinion of having to be like, policing for something when the person’s already aware but wanted to do a simple thing? It just doesn’t seem to be the wisest use of time. Cus then the person’s already over it, and it’s good to have a good moral code, but is shoving down that dogma someone’s throat by shaming gonna make them more human to you? 
 

It’s something we have to improve on and move past. 
 

There’s been like this phenomenon where people are kinda just scared of opening up, about anything, cus they feel like they have to be ultra pc, which ya know don’t be a shit person, but it’s like, all these ironic jokes, and they’re self aware and they play on the irony of it, how do you connect w others and more meaningfully, it takes a lot of color away from life.

I just don’t think it’s good to always start shaming people or making them feel so disproportionately bad for something that’s already been over. Now, if something was actually done in that situation, well that’s another thing. But this? I think a lot of people can agree to acknowledge that it’s nothing to sweat about.
