Burthdaykake Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I would absolutely love for Lana to release a jazz record, as I’ve always been drawn to the genre, and I think it suits her so effortlessly. After her performance with Jon Batiste at the Met Gala afterparty last year, I felt inspired to create something rooted in New York, as it's a city she’s mentioned as a source of inspiration throughout her career and recently in her W Magazine interview, and also in Louisiana, where she’s been spending much of her time lately. Jazz feels inseparable from those places, especially New Orleans, where it was born, so I can’t help but wonder how present it is in her life - I’d love to see her explore that world more deeply. That’s how the concept “A Quarter Till My Rendezvous” came to life, named in honor of one of my favorite Lana covers, Buddy's Rendezvous - so gorgeous and undeniably jazzy. The idea centers around a late-night meeting with musician friends, simply coming together to play, experiment, and have fun. I imagined a few special features as well: Father John Misty (one of my main inspirations for the concept), Chris Isaak (I absolutely adore his voice), Jon Batiste (of course), and Weyes Blood, whose voice pairs beautifully with Lana’s and who I’d love to hear on a jazz track. I also included “Dayglo Reflection” featuring Bobby Womack (in memoriam), because it’s such a gorgeous song and a jazz version would be just wonderful. Hope you like it! 10 Quote Come and take a walk on the wild side
Embach Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Such a beautiful and amazing concept! I loved the title If You Can Hear The Sax, You Can Hear My Soul. A full jazz album would be truly a dream! 3 Quote
