Lana On The Silver Screen Posted April 30 Posted April 30 The trigger for this topic was given while we were browsing films on IMDb - for those who don't know, it's a gigantic database for film info - and we were astonished to find out that out of 735.741 motion picture titles (a total count of every feature-length film ever made globally) only 5.624 feature-length films were directed by women to date. We repeate the number: 5.624 out of 735.741. This means that 0,7% of films are directed by women. Can you imagine that? Not even 1%! It's been more than a hundred years of cinema around the world and women have only directed the 0,7% of the total amount we get to see in theaters - if many of their films get a release at all. So, we've taken the initiative to create this topic so that we can gather together a list of films directed by women with your own personal experiences of them in order to share the titles and recognize the vital need for more movies by women from around the world. We start with this gem rec and we let the thread unfold as it pleases from here on: 3 Quote LANA ON THE SILVER SCREEN
