I don't if there is already a thread about this. So, this year ESC will be held in Vienna, Austria. The first semi final is tomorrow, 12/05/26, the second is on 14/05/26 and the Grand Final on 16/05/26.ย

The odds, one day before the contest begins, predict Finland on the first place, Greece on the second, Denmark on the third

The last years, there is much controversy surrounding the contest. Even though Eurovision has always been political, this year many countries have left Eurovision. Spain, Netherlands, Iceland, Ireland and Slovenia boycotted Eurovision, but let's not bring politics in this thread, and keep it about the songs.ย

I have not listened to all the songs, but I personally believe that this year Eurovision is a little mundane. I wanna see your opinions, how you think this is going to evolve.

Good Luck to every participant!๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿฉท

This year is so incredibly bad, I do not like the songs at all. Not gonna tune in this year for the first time since 2016, especially considering the recent political circus it has put up with. This is the real example of modern Hunger Games, not some Met Gala shenanigans.

I appreciate San Marianoโ€™s disco diva but I fear Finlandโ€™s gonna win this year!

most of songs are so fucking bad. they don't even have any punch both sonically and in staging wise:bebe:

i liked only Finland, Poland and Serbia.

I'm in the minority here when I say that I thought this was quite a good year. Seems that most acts are taking it seriously and trying to release songs that would genuinely chart outside the contest. Of course this is the year that my country decided to go the comedy route.ย :facepalm:ย But it'll probably net us more points and it at least understands the assignment. My ultimate faves are Poland, Sweden and Serbia. Though all my further top ten got through apart from Switzerland and Azerbaijan, whose chances I didn't rate highly anyway. It's hard to say who could win but Australia and Finland seem to be in with a big shout.

ย

I'm still flabbergasted that Israel are allowed to compete, though. If they can do it this year of all years, surely they'll be allowed to do it next year too? How many boycotts will happen before the competition could be irreparably damaged?ย

I havenโ€™t seen the first semi-final, but the ones played on Thursday were lowkey so bad???ย :horror:
ย

Not to mention other, much more serious reasons why this yearโ€™s content is super disappointingย

After watching all the songs, I think this Eurovision is not so bad at all.

I just read the results and let me be honest, I don't like the winning song at all, sounds like any dated dance song from 2010s but I'm glad that it won for a one particular reason :brigitte:

Ooo I didn't realise there was a thread, reposting my thoughts here. I didn't hear any of the other Eurovision songs because my family turned the TV on after everybody was done performing lmao, but I liked the Bulgaria girl, she seemed super cute and happy when she won and the song was funย

ย

Elephant in the room: I was glad Israel didn't win - I fully believe in separating art from the artist etc, so I should probably listen to the songs before making judgements based on country, but I just don't want Israel winning. It's so unfair that they even get to compete in the first place while Russia is banned.

ย

IDK how this stuff works but I do wonder if Israel bought votes or something. Israel getting #2 again feels fraudulent, and like political messaging.ย I know there's still a lot of Zionists but....their country is so widely hatedย :nene:ย I heard people in the audience booing them and chanting for Palestineย

ย
