Make me your Dream Life Posted June 2 Posted June 2 About the movie, yes. But also hey why not make it a movie discussion/game? Aesthetically, I'd have my backrooms look kinda like this: What did you think of the movie? 4 Quote
jimmyjimmycocoapuff Posted June 2 Posted June 2 I don’t think I’m allowed to post a pic of my “backrooms” on here… 8 Quote

Make me your Dream Life Posted June 2 Author Posted June 2 Before people start making out with other peoples backrooms aha- So for the movie. first off, I was annoyed. Just annoyed. *SPOILERS* Spoiler apparently it's like a social insult or something, somebody correct me on this, but everytime I hear a meniton of 4chan, it's like a frowned upon thing site, and I get the concept of echo chambers bc hello we're using the internet right now. But I was sooooooooo annoyed at how the scientists were just like, well! sorry Mary! fuck you you're not leaving !! after she escaped, and also! guy brings his 2 remaining staff, lets Katherine? just run fucking off and separate after her boyfriend, which mind u crop top I see that blondie much appreciated, ohmygod. he goes back the fuck inside, instead of just stopping it at the wall trick. I'm open for a sequel, but I was just so fucking annoyed. NONE. none of them decided to go in with some kind of weapon already? like? tell ur friends, tell others where you're gonna goooooooo soooooo theyyyy knooooooowwww where ur gonna be *sighs* initial thoughts. 2 Quote
Auburn Cuprum Posted June 3 Posted June 3 luva the backrooms, so nostalgic. my fav levels are absolutely 10000% Level 959: "Now You Know" primarily a series of outdated and empty office spaces. any knowledge of the level, no matter how minute, will trigger the stages of what is given the name "nonpentennism". it'll begin as a desperate craving to find and enter this level, then your auditory, visual, and olfactory senses will deteriorate, as will your cognition and physical health, before total brain death and organ failure. these symptoms span over 5 days of first learning about the level in any capacity. inspired by old internet chainmail where once you'd learn of "the game", you'd lose and have to pass it onto somebody else. Spoiler btw you lose Level 354 "When a Certain Thought Arises" basically an eerie prologue to Level ! you awake in a dungy ambulance after an attack or near-death experience, lead to believe you've made it back to Earth (the Frontrooms). though upon closer inspection of your surroundings, you begin to doubt you ever really made it out of the Backrooms at all. when this "certain thought arises", you're transported to the claustrophobic, neon-red hospital chase of Level ! i love levels that are backed by a creepy story-line, adding lore to liminal and uncanny images makes the Backrooms such an engaging and creative community!! this photo of Lana always gave me Backrooms vibes, and i'm not going if there's not at least something else there for me to geek out about (bec ill get bored of the one obsession otherwise?) i also rlly like these images 4 Quote “Something heavenly lead me to you Look at the sky, it’s the colour of love.”

rightofjupiter Posted June 3 Posted June 3 loved the first half of the movie, though the second half kind of sucked (imo the ambiguity of it needed to be maintained in a way it wasn't). but a fun watch overall. there will def be a sequel. 2 Quote

I wonder what's gonna be depicted but thank ya for the lore 2 Quote

I walked in on the concept or well watched the movie on a whim cus I was just thinking sure ok fuck it why not, and ugh. So you've watched it as well. I think we both know that one part where the two characters are "eating" like mygod. one of the characters pissed me the HELL off, and I wanted the other one to really just escape after telling the other one the truth and stuff, and then ! after all that happens and there's another encounter w them and the you already know- I was like. Spoiler what the fuck is this? just keeping her prisoner like ohmygoooooood I would've burned the entire thing down or gotten some kind of hammer or something! or at least negotiated some kind of pass or whatever but sheeeeesh but it was a, I won't say good watch for me, but it was really interesting and I liked the concept so I'm kinda glad that they're apparently building on something on top of this film cus ooh. I wanted more answers 2 Quote
Make me your Dream Life Posted June 3 Author Posted June 3 and then I kinda just wanted to add this to a personal aesthetic alignment or energy at the very least- *cloudfare being a bit of bum- but as I was saying I really love the world that she kinda pulled the audience into, and when it came out, it was just so personally intriguing and I'm gonna take a guess that maybe Doja sorta knew of this, w her history of researching things online, but ugh. I loved the depiction/ setting/ mood of what she was going for here 1 Quote

jimmyjimmycocoapuff Posted June 3 Posted June 3 The Black Lodge from Twin Peaks seems to be one of the foundational “liminal spaces” and imo it’s the one that works the most for me Aside from the evil spirits and backwards talking, it has a very classy look, like I could hang out there (maybe not for 25 years) I haven’t seen Backrooms yet, but I’ll try to see it tomorrow, I’ll post my thoughts about it then 2 Quote
Burthdaykake Posted June 3 Posted June 3 You just unlocked a crazy memory… what the hell? There’s an old factory near my house that was turned into a massive supermarket years ago, it was kind of like Walmart where you could buy groceries, electronics, tires, basically anything. The place was so huge it almost felt like a mall and there was an entire section filled with furniture and home decor stores - on the other side of the building but not part of the grocery store itself. My family used to shop there all the time because it had everything and was the closest place to buy furniture or household supplies. I can’t remember exactly what we were there for that day, but I remember how enormous the place felt. I was a kid, so everything seemed bigger, but this place was genuinely gigantic; there were endless rows of beds, couches, doors, bathtubs, and every kind of home fixture you could imagine… At some point, I got lost. I was probably around eight and it was just awful. A lot of the decor stores were already closed or abandoned and I couldn’t find anyone to help me there. The whole place had this unsettling atmosphere and it felt completely empty… I was genuinely terrified my parents would leave without me and I would be stuck there forever. What’s weird is that I can still picture it perfectly… I remember the lighting, the stores, even the always closed little food stand and how oddly specific everything looked. Even now, thinking about it gives me the same eerie feeling I had back then… A few years ago they turned the space into a new supermarket and it looks completely different from how it was before. They also shut down that specific part I got lost in and you can’t really access it anymore… 2 Quote Come and take a walk on the wild side

I myself? I think I remember a relative showing me this movie at one point where Natalie Portman had to live in a Kmart or something so strangely enough if I ever got stuck in a mall or something, I’d make a point to just go where the food might be bahaaaaa But this movie sort of reminds me of how I love just going to abandoned places, aside from exploring alone or not and just trying to read the vibe and it can be fun but also sometimes just plain unnerving so I get that as well 2 Quote
