psycholifeguard Posted June 11 Posted June 11 The world cup has officially finished it’s first match, Mexico vs. South America. 🇲🇽🩷 I dont think I found a topic/ thread for this, so i thought i’d start it. I love how happy and excited I get to see our teams play! Not only that but I love to see other people celebrate and be so prideful and even teaching of their cultures and countries ! Share ur thoughts, emotions, opinions here!! ⚽️ 11 Quote
blueskiesforever Posted June 11 Posted June 11 Nice I was wondering if there was going to be a WC thread Rooting for Argentina, Spain and the US(gotta root for the home team ig). Missed the first match but I plan to watch as many as I can. 5 Quote Summer’s meant for lovin’ and leavin’
Barry Posted June 11 Posted June 11 I want anyone who plays for my team to do well. So Auston Trusty(USA), Yang Hyun-Jun(South Korea), Sebastian Tounekti(Tunisia), Benjamin Nygren(Sweden), Alistair Johnston(Canada) and most importantly Daizen Maeda(Japan) who scored 9 goals in the last 7 games, scoring in every game including iconic and great goals to help us win the League and Cup even though we were terrible all season lol Plus Scotland, and players who used to play for us like Virgil Van Dijk, Kristoffer Ajer, Timothy Weah, Carl Starfelt, Gustav Lagerbielke, Jackson Irvine and Oh Hyeon-Gyu. I also want either Spain or Argentina to win it, Spain since they have Pedri and Yamal who I think are two of the very few skilled players about now and Argentina since Messi is the best ever and would be great to see him playing well and winning it again. 4 Quote
daphnedinkley Posted June 12 Posted June 12 i'm excited for the world cup, it's always such a great atmosphere! (until you're watching england in the pub and they lose ) i love football but i don't know enough about it to engage in very nuanced or specific big boy discussions (tho i know a lot more now thanks to my boyfriend lol) but i did enjoy last night's match. after that early goal from mexico i was kinda rooting for SA because i love an underdog (despite how shite they were playing) but seeing Raul cry after scoring mexico's second goal i just couldn't be mad, bless his heart. i made enchiladas for tea last night so i was accidentally eating on theme while watching hahah shame so many of the matches are on so late here 7 Quote
Embach Posted June 12 Posted June 12 I lowkey miss World Cup 2022 because ATRL was available to everyone then and their commentary was genuinely funny and hilarious, their comments literally made my whole day every day when I was depressed, severely ill with cold and overwhelmed with studies That whole event then was like a fever dream because it took place in wintertime (for Europeans) and the results were so unexpected with so many underdogs beating the favourites - anyone remembers that Saudi Arabia vs Argentina match? That shit was WILD! Not to mention also the Netherlands vs Argentina, that was also one of the most insane games ever, those yellow and red cards were flying like crazy. 8 Quote

NormanFRockwell Posted June 12 Posted June 12 Not a fan of FIFA this time around. Dynamic ticket pricing, visa denials, massive carbon footprint, and now even destroying art. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/wyland-lawsuit-fifa-dallas-whale-mural-world-cup-rcna348362 Tbh, fuck FIFA 0 Quote "Stove... daphnedinkley Posted June 13 Posted June 13 Brazil v Morocco such an exciting match so far!!! 4 Quote
blueskiesforever Posted June 14 Posted June 14 USA vs Paraguay was a fun watch, so was Brazil vs Morocco. Watching Germany vs Curaçao right now and well…at least Curaçao managed to score 1 goal. But one of my favorite things about this World Cup has been Freddy, the German fan that has been traveling through the South and raving about Buc-ees and Raising Cane’s dude got tickets to an Ella Langley concert from Ella herself and a stay at a hotel suite thanks to an NFL player. 7 Quote Summer’s meant for lovin’ and leavin’
SweetCherryCola Posted June 14 Posted June 14 Didn't plan to watch the Scotland vs Haiti match last night but my dad was making up a baked cheese dipper thing to share so I thought I may as well stick around. I'm not into football but when your country is competing in such a huge tournament for the first time in 28 years, you have to show willing. Ended up watching the entire thing. We were all talking and looked at the screen about 3 seconds before Scotland scored that goal and were over the moon and I just decided I may as well wait it out. It's fun to watch when you're winning! I feel we got in a good group and now we've won 1/3 matches, maybe we do stand a chance against Morocco though Brazil will surely hang us out to dry. But you just need to come 3rd in your group to progress, so fingers crossed. At least we're not finishing last! This is the first time I've seen my country compete since I was 8 years old and I don't even remember that. And weirdly, we were put into almost the same group as back then, we were in with Brazil and Morocco again, spooky! We failed to make it past the first round for the 8th time back then, which is a world record. Looks like we may finally break the bad luck! 4 Quote
daphnedinkley Posted June 14 Posted June 14 that germany vs curacao match was painful by the end by the time germany got their fifth goal i was like right come on now lads just give curacao a freebie they've put up a decent fight bless them 3 Quote

Yeah we probably only need to draw one match, Morocco and Brazil are both quite good but we could draw or beat either of them I think. Brazil used to be great but they're not really that good now. I think Scotland have played Brazil in something like 7 out of 8 World Cups they've been in and never beat them so hopefully due to beat them 2 Quote
