Hi all, I am hoping you can all enlighten me :legend:,

I am an e-vagabond, in the words of a famous Fordham alumna, "I belonged to no one, who belonged to everyone" :fabcat:. So, I am not always up to date or in the know when it comes to everything that occurs in the fandom :$.

So I asked a question on the infamous discussion board website with the alien logo :flop:, about our former fanbase name 'Lipster' because I haven't seen it used in common parlance in quite a while . But I wanted to know if anyone else still called themselves that besides me. I wanted to see if I was alone like the Japanese man who kept fighting 29 years after World War 2 ended...:bitchfight:

Well I was shocked that I was so heavily downvoted :hdu:, and then the one other comment in the thread was downvoted too! Why are these b*ches so made over a simple question :noparty:? Maybe this has more to do with the toxic basement dweller covered in cheeto dust culture of that website but I also perceive a holier-than-thou energy amongst that select group of netizens  who think negatively about an innocent fan name....

Anyway I wanted to know what you guys think about this? I still call myself a Lipster and maybe it shows my age since it isnt a prevalent term no more but I think it's fun and nostalgic and I don't sense anyone on Lanaboards would ridicule me for such a designation  :sluttybunny:

Thank you for validating my tea sis sosad1.gifhug.gif

I am so over this weird negativity that is so proudly displayed on the internet. And maybe this is my 'im too woke' moment but I think websites like that are generally populated by more men than women, are therefore very chauvinistic and this attitude is adopted by the wider community.

One reason I love being a Lipster (:hooker:) is because I have found we don't take ourselves too seriously and we like to have fun !

My experience on Lanaboards has been very positive so im staying away from that Taliban ass entity for the time being :burn:

Never knew there was an aversion to it. I use it often. I generally avoid Reddit. I find it to be even worse of a place than Twitter is nowadays.

I would trade the Cartier for someone to trust (just kidding)

I don't use any fandom name for Lana fans unironically, but I do love the term lipster... it's meta asf.

It's a really funny and smart concept/combo of words to me

OMG-I also avoid Twitter like the plague. It's full of disgusting racists and random porn videos no one asked for. Back in my day we had random OF pics of Trisha on the veranda (buttered noodles on the veranda) but now its like stan twitter is using clips of a woman flicking her bean in the hallway of an apartment complex as reactions :hdu:

Reddit is strictly a question and answer source but I ain't feeding the pigeons !!!!

I’ve never heard it outside of LB, and rightfully so, the only cool Lana fans are the ones on here, and we should have a title for that :usrs:

I agree with you, so many cool cats on this site. Love connecting with Lipsters around the world here :hooker:!!!

I think most people in general have stopped using fandom nicknames. We took them seriously once but with time, we now see a lot of them are dated, immature or cringe. Doja Cat actually showed derision for fans who called themselves kittens (she tweeted something hilariously weird like "anyone who calls themselves a kitten needs to help their mother more around the house" :toofunny:) and I don't even see artists bestowing a fan nickname anymore. Honestly, I didn't know til I joined here that Lipsters was our most common nickname or that we used it ourselves. I just call myself a ____ fan across the board. Fandom nicknames are what I view as for kids or if you just want to make a self deprecating joke. They're best kept among fans. Any outsiders hearing them would probably not know what you're talking about.

just think it's a bit of a cacophony/doesn't sound very nice to say. also at least swifties or arianators can say their name comes from the name of the artist but lipster isn't even directly linked to her name. other fandom's who don't have the name of the artist are usually also real words that don't sound weird (beehive, navy, loves, lambs, etc). so lots of things going against it lol and if we're being serious, don't like that it's reducing lana to her lips

This is the first time I've heard that we're called Lipsters. I think it's fun and great. Well, I think all the nicknames we Lana fans have are great and funny. In the Latino community, some refer to the fandom as 'gangsters'. Others call the fandom 'Lanudos'. :awk:

I've also read 'Lanitas' and 'Little Fuckers'. Lipsters is definitely one of the least cringey, I like it. And by the way, Reddit has become a war zone for me. I won't be back. We should just stay in LB :welcome:

I understand where you're coming from and i used to think it was about her lips too but if I'm not wrong "Lipster" was a combination of Lana x hipsters.

honestly, i love the name lipsters so much. it makes a lot more sense than any other name. lanatics never made sense to me and little fuckers is cringe as hell in my opinion. i know that lana loves to call us kids but lipsters for lanaboards is just chef's kiss.

1. It doesn't sound related to Lana at all. If I said to a friend, "I'm a lipster." They'd be like "huh?" Whoever came up with "Lipster" should have thought on that name a bit longer.

2. "Lipster" just sounds like a lipstick variation to me, or how folks pronounce "lipstick" when they're drunk. "Sweetie, did you put your lipster on? I mean, lipstick."

It just has nothing to do with Lana. It's like calling Lady Gaga fans "gargoyles". It sounds good in theory, but is it clear you're a Gaga fan? Nope.

Lanatics is far better. Instead of lunatics, it's lanatics. Just like Nicole Kidman fans are called 'kidmaniacs'. That's it. That's the one. You say you're a lanatic, or a kidmaniac, or beyhive, and people know instantly what you mean.

I don’t think I’ve ever called myself a Lipster outside of LB, not even in real life. I prefer Lipster over Lanitas (although I think it’s cute fans call Lana that) and Reycists (seriously wtf?). Little fuckers is like an inside joke no one would get outside the fandom, but I don’t like that one particularly much either.

I just say I’m a Lana Del Rey fan and let those who want to figure out I’m more of a stan.

I really like Lanatics too, For me Lipster has a sense of nostalgia to it because it's so old, but Lanatics is wholesome and cute and more on the nose (or should I say lips) because it fully references her name :hooker:
