Founded byĀ Brian Robbins, Big Shot acquires 25 percent ownership stake in Alvin and the Chipmunks and will develop new projects for the franchise. This includes a big-screen feature that is beginning development and aiming for theatrical release in late 2028, timed to the franchiseās 70th anniversary.Ā Ā A distributor has not yet been set for the planned movie. Embach Posted July 18 Posted July 18 Hollywood this decade only keeps doing reboots, sequels, prequels, spin-offs, live-actions...have they learned nothing, like which have been one of the two most successful films of 2026? Obsessions and Backrooms. Small budget movies by young indie filmmakers. People WANT something new and fresh, it doesn't even to be a Citizen Kane or The Godfather level of maaterpiece, but seems like the studios want to milk as much money off every franchise as they can, that's for sure. Ā I've got nothing against Chimpmunks though, but I have never really watched these films. I think when I was 8, I watched the first film with half eye but never finished it. But happy for the Chimpmunk fans, these films were a huge part of the 2000s/early 2010s pop culture! 3 Quote
