Divineness Posted August 1 Posted August 1 ask people for music suggestions and drop your recommendations here! whether for the lyrics, production or overall stuff does anyone know anything similar to Born To Die (album)? i'm craving that alt-pop mix of hip-hop and orchestra. Pure Heroine from Lorde & 1Train by A$AP Rocky has that sound, but I need more 8 Quote - I never felt unhappy - - Because I have been unhappy all the time -
lanadelusionalrey Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Long Distance by Ivy (2000) {indie pop, indie rock, alternative pop} I've been obsessed with this album lately. It gives me this bittersweet, nostalgic feeling that I can't quite put into words. I love every single song, but my favorites are "Edge of the Ocean", "Midnight Sun" and "While We're in Love." It's absolutely worth checking out!!!! 3 Quote spinning like a ballerina
Embach Posted August 1 Posted August 1 @Divineness I don't know if you know this song or not, while this isn't an album but if you love the production on Born To Die, I recommend you this song by Florence And The Machine which was written for The Great Gatsby. The production is identical to the Born To Die era songs like Lolita, Dark Paradise and Off To The Races because Emile Haynie produced it. The intro also samples Lana's breaths from Burning Desire! 4 Quote

Florence is so amazing, the way how she builds her worlds in her songs reminds me of Lana's somehow, in a way how cinematic her songs are (especially in the earlier works). The best way to start is from the debut album but if you loved Born To Die, I can say that perhaps the closest album you'll ever get to the cinematic orchestras and symphonies of Born To Die is Ceremonials (the band's 2nd album). And you also loved Pure Heroine which is perfect because there's a deluxe track called Remain Nameless which is sooo reminiscent of the dark electronic pop of Pure Heroine - I would even say it's the most Pure Heroine-esque track I have ever heard - but it was released like 2 years before (which I wouldn't be surprised if Lorde was inspired from that). 1 Quote
