Make me your Dream Life Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Watched it, liked it. Absorbing the details and themes. Love the *spoiler* blonde bum in the grass moment ? Beautiful frames, good concept about man. Thinking about when I'll watch it next. Seen it on discounted 70mm so I'm kinda wary of watching it on a smaller screen or so but yeah enjoyed it a lot. But I mean hey, grown men running around in skirts? Well yes! It's been out for like a month now, feel free to discuss. 3 Quote

Creyk Posted August 16 Posted August 16 Not casting Lana to be one of the sirens was a colossal mistake 2 Quote

Semafori Posted August 17 Posted August 17 i cannot believe cerce would opt out of seeing those buns by turning him into a deer or whatever. all jokes aside i have now watched it four times in theatres , and once in 70 mm imax. All variants are good, nothing of substance is really lost watching in the common widescreen aspect ratio , although some of the scenes are elevated due to the better visual composition in the latter. I think Nolan has done an outstanding job portraying men who are regretful and/or fearful of their creation, which is/was otherwise looked upon as a beacon of honor and virtue by the masses. 2 Quote https://www.last.fm/user/ItsLandi

I wish they had a bit more eye candy to really contribute to some of the gorgeous frames they had in it, but I'm guessing they were sort of aiming for a more mature kind of depiction of that world and not glazy so I commend em for that. but those memes where the soundtrack or underscore just BOOMED yeah I get that gahahahahahaha 2 Quote
Make me your Dream Life Posted August 18 Author Posted August 18 The movie in a strange or not so strange way, really was so visually appealing. Circe’s part was kinda disgusting ngl, but also, the way it was portrayed and the transitions were disgustingly beautiful in a fucked up kinda way. Also like how some of the men were different forms wonder what their back stories were. 1 Quote
Terrence Loves Me Posted August 18 Posted August 18 not watching this for at least 10 years, too popular, will watch it when everyone forgets what it is to fuel my pretentious ego 3 Quote
Charlottexseax Posted August 18 Posted August 18 It thought it was fun I definitely liked the beat! I really did not feel it was as divisive or polarizing as a lot of people made it out to be. idgaf about the adherence to the original book and the whole imax thing was a marketing ploy but the movie is quite good and enjoyable, I wish people could be more normal about movies 27 minutes ago, Make me your Dream Life said: The movie in a strange or not so strange way, really was so visually appealing. I loved the body horror in Circe’s part, the move was quite dark in a lot of places and it was very fun IMO. 3 Quote
American Whore Posted August 18 Posted August 18 i loved it, it was campy and well put together and acted well, everyone in it was good tbh. i don't think i disliked anyone's acting. i think angelina jolie would've been a good pick for penelope too, she would've ate, but it was still a good pick putting anne hathaway in that role. idk, i loved it 3 Quote to die by ur side, well the pleasure, the privilege is mine
Make me your Dream Life Posted August 18 Author Posted August 18 I'm still thinking about how quick the inside of the trojan horse was given britney video - sweaty men clumped up together to porta potty real quick 1 Quote
Make me your Dream Life Posted August 21 Author Posted August 21 Watched it a second time wheeeeeew discount but I knew that I wanted to watch this movie at least 2 times. and this watch was even better than the first. I sort of suspended my oh well this is gonna happen already mentality and senses and just went w being present. and I really do have to say that yeah how someone else already mentioned the body horror, but to tap into that, and also just ok so let's list it. - I strangely enough, didn't really mind and actually did like the casting for the most part. zendaya was a smart choice imo, and that little plot twist or reveal towards the end was great. Page, imo added to a sense of unfairness when it comes to him having transitioned, that imo can parallel how antinous was just a rich twat, a cowardly cheat of one. so the two contrast real well. Lupiiiiiitaaaaaaa, I love the outrage a bit cus it can just be telling, but her reveal as well and scenes. I loved it a lot, and her hair resembling a pharoah's or sphinx's mwah. Matt Damon as Odysseus, I can get behind that. I think he depicts a kind of aging when it comes to white men full white men often times, and he's been around, and it was fun seeing the different stages of how he looked thru-out and telling of his remembering of the story. Charlize Theron's just GORGEOUS, and her eyes or stare felt a bit intense at times, but I wish we had a bit more background or something that made her feel a different or slightly different kind of otherworldly. I do think Scilla was just real quick. I actually like Tom's depiction, and how he portrayed that kind of growth into manhood from prince was. I think the combat scenes really solidify that easier than just the dialogue w him. the shepherd really delivered imo, Anne of course. I like Matt's portrayal of being lost. Circe played the role so smartly, that whole part was a personal favorite even if it was disturbing, I think it served an amazing portrayal of why's. I like the tools, the concepts, the themes and what things symbolized, but I really loved, LOVED, the pacing and breathing of the film overall. it was nearly 3 hours, but paced and filmed just right. lots of beautiful shots and frames. transitions. it lets you breathe, but also keeps you occupied just enough to try to understand and anticipate how things are going to unfold from all the predictions. and it feels like a no brainer, but also. the emphasis of principles. how people are governed in a way by them. the kind of battery that humans face. the ego death and journey of it all. all the kinds of things that weather people to doing the things that they do. the movie felt like a movie painting. It's a solid like, to even love. it's subtle. it's got lots of material to work with. and it can serve as a good intro to myths too, so it lends itself to each other in that sense. 1 Quote
jimmyjimmycocoapuff Posted August 26 Posted August 26 I really enjoyed it, more than I expected to. I don’t know if it was the format (first time seeing a movie in IMAX 70mm) but I was mesmerized the whole time. It reminded me of seeing Dune Pt 2 for the first time, like its spectacle, but you can’t help but be amazed. And these kind of films don’t really come around often, it kind of harkens back to Old Hollywood epics like Cleopatra. Some good performances (Samantha Morton, Rob Pat, Damon) and some I didn’t particularly care for (Tom Holand, Charlize Theron) but overall no one did terribly. I may have to see this one again! 2 Quote

I may have to see this one again! ughhhhhhhh girl YES. well I'm actually grateful bc of discounts so i got to see the movie just twice now and YES the formatting, but also hello???? Dune is also my shit !! *pause for an imaginary camera somewhere cus I'm too lazy to txt my peeps* but it was gorgeous wasn't it? like it had a lot of grit to it, and matt damon, I do sort of think that his casting was appropriate cus he really was able to do all those age jumps back n forth w his scenes so naturally, and there was admmittedly, a straight man perspective on things, I think it was still very much well done, and just bc i didn't prefer it, doesn't mean it wasn't glorious which it was !! I get the whole tom sorta feeling a bit too neighborhood of a casting, but I like how he portrayed the before and after of his father coming home, and HAHAHAHAHAHA I appreciated charlize theron but she was just so gorgeous that it sorta took ur attention to that. I enjoyed it nonetheless, and I really do love how some scenes were placed, how I heard that the locations were real and that the actors were truly feeling that saga bc of the elements. and just some of the frames would feel like they could be painted 2 Quote
