Trinity Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Imagine Lana Music Videos Lana's music always seems to paint beautiful pictures in our minds as we listen, and her videos are equally impressive. We already know how Lana pictures some experiences in her songs, like Video Games, Blue Jeans, Ride, and Born To Die, but what about songs she doesn't have videos for? What image does Lana have in her head for these songs? In this thread, we will kind of pretend to direct our dream video of a Lana Del Rey song. We will share our ideas and thoughts about what these videos would look like. To participate, just choose a song that doesn't have a video (or choose one of the homemade videos from the Lizzy Grant era and imagine how it would be if it were professionally recorded) and describe your dream video as best as you can. Listen to the song and describe what you see in your mind.Tell the time and place in which the video would take place. Describe Lana; state what she is wearing, what style and color her hair is, her facial expressions, and if she is doing anything quirky like the dancing in the Burning Desire video. Tell if there are any other people in the video with her. Share any monologues or other extra features you would include in the video. You could even post clips from YouTube videos that you would splice into the video. Also, list any outside factors that inspired your styling of the video. I hope you all enjoy this activity and have a ton of fun! ~ 3 Quote
cartoon eyes Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 For Radio: Well it's start off with an orchestral intro, just her sitting on sand in a long blue dress. When it starts she gets up and walks into the water. It then flashes to a scene with a guy in a house, and they're both screaming at eachotherwhen he suddenly smashes all of her picture frames. It gets to the chorus and its her sitting in front of a black screen singing. It's goes back to the beach setting for verse two and then for the second chorus she is seen in the blue dress dripping wet in front of a white screen. There is a bit of silence while the boy walks on and takes her away. It then goes to them driving in a blue Chevy off a cliff. The beach scene flashes back and her whole face is filled with running mascara and just walking out of the water. It now goes back to outside the house and then 'how do you like me now?' BANG. Gunshot. 10 Quote
Guest Dot Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 For Diet Mountain Dew I always imagined a self shot super 8 vintage style film of Lana and her guy driving around in New York City in a vintage car. I think the intro and the outro for Ride are what I think a video for Yayo could look like. The video for Lolita would be set in Spanish Harlem with Lana walking through the streets flirting with some guys, etc. The video for Million Dollar Man would feature Lana singing in a piano bar wearing a beautiful black dress, with some other scenes of her lying on her bed in a luxurious home. The face of her "Million Dollar Man" is not shown in the video. He is seen sitting in his chair in front of the fireplace counting money. Lana tries to get his attention by dancing seductively on top of his lap and in front of him, but he doesn't seem to be impressed at all... I always imagined the video for Video Games to be set in a trailer park with Lana and her boyfriend living in one of the trailers. The video for Without You would be Lana reminiscing Marilyn Monroe, telling the story of an icon...famous, loved and adored by everyone. At the end of the video she commits suicide... The video for Off to the Races would feature Lana and her mafioso boyfriend making money by going to casinos and horse races. Her man steals, kills and betrays but she stays with him, cause she loves him so much and can't imagine living without all the luxury he gives her. I'll think of more soon... 6 Quote

Creyk Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I only had an idea like this about Driving in cars with boys. It would be in the summer, and she would have that kind of hairstyle she has in the video when she sings pin up galore live. It would be set in the '80s, and she would wear heart-shaped sunglasses while driving around in the summer, in the desert with sexy boys who are changing, sometimes they would stop and would go into those typical pubs and it would just be a party, and she would do that standing in one place, tilting the head kind of dance, I can't find a gif for it! She would wear blue jeans and a white t-shirt. In the end she would get a little drunk and just lay on the floor of one of the pubs, blow up the smoke, and in the smoke we would see the letters: Baby now we go. While she is partying, we would see flashbacks of her leaving home, running out of her house and jumping into her man's car with, and driving away in the sunshine. 1 Quote
MarryTheSequins Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Young And Beautiful video, her wedding day and Lana's getting ready in her room, looking at pictures and looking in the mirror at herself. There's also footage of 'hot summer nights' and 'the way you play for me at your show'. The last chorus is Lana walking down the aisle singing 'will you still love me...' and then when she gets to the end and sees her partner, she sings 'i know you will, i know you will...' The final shot is the words 'Til death do us part' written in the sky with stars Okay I totally only came up with this because I want Y&B at my wedding but still 1 Quote
VegasBaby Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Man, everytime I listen to OTTR, I imagine some epic music video. She's so talented in her story telling in her songs. Same goes for This Is What Makes Us Girls. I just imagine in Off to the Races exactly what she says; video clips of Las Vegas (Las Vegas past), LA (LA crass way about me), a swimming pool including Lana's white bikini off with her red nail polish, waves on the beach, tropical trees (I get the same feeling from the Paradise Edition cover photo as I do from the song, Tropical) Lana draped in gold jewelery whilst singing 'Gimme them gold coins, gimme them coins'..Lana rapping the chorus. I picture her in a red cocktail dress singing "I'm your little scarlet, starlet". Basically just having fun, being badass, being Lana. 0 Quote Sweeping scents and blue hydrangea. Summer hail and summer stranger.
sonicalana Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 For an Oh Say Can You See music video, it would start with lana walking down a deserted highway and singing on a clear night, she enters a jazz cafe and starts singing, she smokes a cigarette, flash back to highway, then have her swimming at night in the beach... something like that 0 Quote
Trash Magic Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 ive always had dreams of Yayo, maybe ill type it up later 0 Quote "It's 2011, and we should all be aware of exactly how fast technology is developing" - Lana Del Rey

TrailerParkDarling Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 It's kind of hard to say because I feel like all of her music videos are biographical, though dramaticised, of course. For Off to the Races, I've always pictured a Bonnie and Clyde sort of homage. It starts out with Clyde sitting alone in a booth (in his gold chain and a cigar hanging out of his mouth ofc) while Lana's character dances on stage. There are other girls dancing but he only looks at her, though she doesn't notice him (or anyone) Anyway it cuts to her taking a smoke outside, close shot to her theatrical makeup & weathered face, and the Clyde character pulls up in his car and Lana gets in. Then I imagine other scenes like them staying the night in a seedy motel (sort of like in Ride), quick shots to vegas landscapes, and then eventually going on a spree. then they stay at the chateau and live large for a while. Lana wears furs and the male character drives a buggati. there are police chases, quick shots 2 drug use, heavy drinking, and etc. It ends with Clyde being killed like Scarface in their mansion and Lana kneeling over his body. 1 Quote *** People call me crazy but I'm in demand ***
jvcx Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 I imagine this scenery of Lana (with this look) laying on a red silk sheet all naked but covering herself with American flag every time I listen to the chorus of Cola. Oh and there's also hell lots of small diamonds on her and the sheet of course. I'm no straight but oh god 0 Quote
Lana's Mons†er Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I'd love if u post a story that u would want to see in videos for lana's songs! And I would love to make ur ideas come true! 1 Quote Lana's my inspiration and goddess, and i made a music video for DARK PARADISE!
I Was An Angel Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 How did I not see this thread before? I imagine those all the time, listening to a song and see the video in my head... Okay here I go Gods And Monsters - It begins with a few shots of open, empty, dark outdoor places, seems like it's hell or some dark land. There's wind and quite yet creepy sounds of explotions and screaming. It goes for like 30 seconds, and then the camera walks forward in a long, dark hall, when at the end there's a door. The door opens magicly, the camera goes into the room, goes up and then you see it - a hung angel, with big white wings, on a rope, like he killed himself. You see him from the back, the huge wings and everything. There is blood on the floor under it. Six lights around it turned on and you see a huge round room, white walls, and that angel in the middle. the camera goes around it, and you see it's lana, with black make up and empty eyes. She's dead. Then the music starts, we go a little back in time, Lana is alive, running through a field, like she's escaping someone. She's scared. She falls on the ground and screams. The scene changes, we see lana in the same room she'll later be hung in, she's alive and sings the first verse. while she sings we see image flashes of her hung. then the chorus - Lana on the end of a cliff, about to fly, she jumps but falls. The falling is long, going through the chorus, she hits the ground and sees a huge castle with a garden in it, she gets up and stands in fornt of it. Second verse - she enters the garden, red flowers and black grass. she smells the flowers and lies down on the grass. we're back to the chasing scene where she fell on the ground, it's the second chorus, a huge black devil (not like a black man, Im not racist, It's just an un-human satan all black skin) he takes her while she's fighting him, then he takes her to that room in that castle where we saw her hung on the rope. it's the bridge (when you talk it's like a movie lalala), there's like a court kinda thing, her sentence is death by hanging, she cries black tears. then the last chorus, in that black-red garden, she lies with her big wings, and a red rain starts to fall. It changes for a second and we see the devils hanging her in that room, while she cries and screams at the garden in the rain, end of song, we see her hanged like the first scene, then she fades away from the garden. THAT WAS FUNNNN I will post some more later 1 Quote
CrazySister Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 We always imagine something when we hear some song, right? So, when you hear Lana's songs, what scenarios and other associations come into your mind? For example: When I hear Oh Say Can You See, the first scenario that comes into my mind is something close to this: Other example is Off to The Races. I don't have any of the pics that represented what I had in mind , but the closest thing that I found was this behind the scenes:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5IC_XVJNXE Edit: Excuse me, I'm going to transfer some visuals for OTTR to this post I have five visuals for off to the races, not in order: one is her in front of the mirror with the dress on spoiler and It's the sugar daddy's POV. There is other where she and her man are walking through the Las Vegas streets, being that she's high and he's behind her to prevent she ends up getting hurt. Have similarities with what I saw in Smarty, except that the guy in Smarty(that could maybe be OTTR guy, don't know ) didn't seem to care about her . The other visual have similar coloring of a part of the Shades of Cool video, when she got out of the swiming pool and the guy was like: "Goddess!" . I see Lana in the border of the pool, just with her legs in the water, and she smiles when her old man walks to her, with a "I wanna do bad things to you" smile . It's the same thing of what you hear in the beggining of Heavy Hitter, except that there's no overdose . 4th visual is both in front of the gates of a mansion and the last is them playing in a casino, she's with the same dress of the first visual: http://herbrasize.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Emma-Stone-Gangster-Squad-380x330.jpg Oh, Off to The Races have a nocturnal scenario with a lot of city lights because it's vegas, baby! Sometimes I associate her albums with days too: A.K.A is wednesday and Honeymoon is sunday or monday, Born to Die can be tuesday or friday and Paradise and Ultraviolence can be friday or saturday.PS: Sometimes the days can change, but it's mostly these that I wrote.I don't associate that much with colors, but I think i can see that Bel Air is gold, Money Power Glory is green, Body Electric is blue and green, Prom Song has a little purple, etc. I can associate more with periods of the day, I think:I will do with Honeymoon, just to show an example Honeymoon - Night or daybreak.Music to Watch Boys to - End of the day, almost night already.Terrence Loves You - Begining of the day.God Knows I Tried - Morning or afternoon.High By The Beach - Morning.Freak - AfternoonArt Deco - Night ( )Burnt Norton(Interlude) - Nothing . There are some that I can't associate with nothing sometimes.Religion - Morning.Salvatore - Afternoon or end of the day.The Blackest Day - Night or daybreak.24 - Daybreak.Swan Song - MorningDon't Let Me Be Misunderstood - End of the day. And it's getting dark really fast. So I created this just because I was curious about other people associations and visuals . It can be words, colors, days, objects, anything! 7 Quote
