greymillenium Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 So I got this idea from Sammi (a Lana fan) on ATRL. We all know that Lana has a diverse discography that spans many production styles, themes, stories, and lyrical content. Lana Del Rey has enough unreleased/demo material to make a couple solid EPs. With that said, let's play a game! Rules 1. Make a track list of 8 songs from Lana Del Rey's unreleased and demo catalouge. Songs that Lana has covered are fair game as well. Songs from the BTD and LDRakaLG albums are off-limits for these EPs. 2. You can add up to 2 tracks and make them bonus/hidden/deluxe edition tracks for a maximum total of a 10 song EP 3. You can create as many EPs as you want 4. Just have fun! What's the thrill of the same playlist? ♥ Optional 1. Feel free to add production notes as to why you picked these songs or what theme/concept you are trying to develop or why it would be a good playlist. 2. Feel free to add an album cover or a reference image if the spirit moves you. 4. Make up a title if you want to! 3. Feel free to discuss the EPs we make. Well that's about it for the rules. And as more songs surface, then there will be more choices for tracks for this game. I think this is a good chance for us to open up a conversation about the songs by Lana that strike us any sort of way and to increase public knowedge about her unreleased/underappreciated songs. 4 Quote
greymillenium Posted September 14, 2012 Author Posted September 14, 2012 I'll begin! Lana Del Rey - The Scarlet Woman EP 1. Children of the Bad Revolution 2. Lift Your Eyes 3. You Can Be the Boss 4. Hundred Dollar Bill 5. Trash Magic (Miss America) 6. Get Drunk 7. Serial Killer 8. Dark Paradise (demo) Babylon Bonuses: Money Hunny and Heavy Hitter This EP showcases a lyrical tale of mysticism and sensuality as Lana Del Rey comes clean about her past lives as a high priestess and an escort. These songs either have esoteric references or divulge carnal knowledge. Who else could coo about spirituality and sexuality on the same record? She "dies" or is sacrificed at the end of this concept album, too. Only just to be reborn for the next era. 5 Quote
CharlieDR Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 1. On Our Way 2. Kinda Outta Luck 3. You Can Be The Boss 4. Driving In Car With Boys 5. Never Let Me Go 6. Marilyn Monroe 7. She's Not Me (Ride Or Die) 8. Dangerous Girl It is hard to choose, an EP it is short ! There are so many unreleased. We should imagine a complete 15 tracks cd, a sort of album or mixtape of unreleased. 4 Quote LanaDelReyFan.Com
Guest Chloe Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 WHOLE WORLD'S GIRL Lana Del Rey 1. She's Not Me 2. Summer Of Sam 3. Fake Diamond 4. Dangerous Girl 5. Gramma(Blue Ribbon Sparkler Trailer Heaven) 6. Driving In Cars With Boys 7. Go Go Dancer 8. Marilyn Monroe - This EP shows a slightly more 'pop' side to Lana, but still the good old Lana whom we love - It slams any statements saying that her music is 'depressing' - It shows that Lana music can be appealing to everyone - The songs on this EP have catchy choruses, but with great lyrics, too - It showcases the sometimes bratty, fun, and dangerous Lana This photo seems appropriate, as she's wearing a cute dress, holding an adorable puppy, but is smoking. She's innocent, yet dangerous. This makes no sense, but oh well! 3 Quote
ednafrau Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 greymillenium, what a great idea!! it's also awesome, because these selections could also serve as a mixtape of unreleased songs we can pass on to "unconverted" friends, so they can sample lana outside of more well-known songs ♥ 2 Quote
Hey Lucas Hey Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 The Consequences Of Love The image is supposed to be blurry, to support the idea that no one is complete without love. The EP is about a relationship that went from good to great to bad to terrible, an EP about gaining love and losing it quickly. Tracklist: Puppy Love - The obsession begins, Lana notices the man and she becomes infatuated. "This is not a school girl crush, this is not puppy love, it's the real thing." National Anthem (Demo) - The relationship has begun and Lana is besotted with the man, he's her national anthem, her true love. "I'm your national anthem, ooh yeah baby bow down, making me so wow wow." Ghetto Baby - Lana's friends start to doubt her boyfriend but Lana is too deep in love to take notice or believe them. "You give me butterflies, heart's skipping one, two." "If they're gonna talk, let them!" Diet Moutain Dew (Demo) - Lana is starting to see that he is no good for her but she doesn't care. "You're no good for me but baby I want you." Million Dollar Man (Demo) - Lana has finally come to her senses, she see's the darker sides of her lover and even though she wants to stick with him he breaks her heart. "You look like a million dollar man so why is my heart broke?" Damn You - Lana has found out her boyfriend has cheated on her, she reminises about the good times they've had but also curses the man for making her feel so low and broken. "I pray your life is sweet, you fucker. Damn you." She's Not Me - Lana has a vengeance for a man, the love she used to hold for him has turned to hate and the girl he has moved on to. The woman who will never live up to her and will never give what she gave. "I have left my mark on you, there is nothing you can do." "You think that you're love, well she might be here, might be hot but she's not me." Driving In Cars With Boys - Lana's final realisation about how she waisted so much time with this demented man who never really cared and used her. She uses this song as a way to rid herself of the relationship, by realising her mistakes she won't do it again. "Used to talk about where we'd be and where we'd go. Now we know, baby, now we know. Spent my whole life wasted in bars with boys." Hope this is good enough! 6 Quote
greymillenium Posted September 15, 2012 Author Posted September 15, 2012 It is hard to choose, an EP it is short ! There are so many unreleased. We should imagine a complete 15 tracks cd, a sort of album or mixtape of unreleased. It is a challenge to pick ~8 songs! But I think it is a good number for the amount of tracks in so that we can be precise and thoughtful about the sound and message and feeling of the playlists. Or we all could just pick our 8 favorite unreleased songs because it is just a game and it doesn't have to be so serious! 1 Quote
LadyLana Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 She's not me Go Go Dancer Yayo Children Of The Bad Revolution Never Let Me Go Kill Kill Serial Killer Body Electric these are just some of my favorite released songs 2 Quote
ednafrau Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Taking into account that her unreleased songs are so eclectic and diverse, I thought these more eccentric, mostly acoustic tunes could be a cohesive collection, portraying a lesser-known side of Lana. The EP would be called “Forlorn on Fire” (because I think this fragment from “Dangerous Girl” describes her quite well) and the tracklist would be: 1- Disco 2- Get Drunk 3- You’re Gonna Love Me 4- 1949 5- Elvis 6- Axl Rose Husband 7- Money Hunny 8- Dangerous Girl (a capella demo) 9- Pin Up Galore (demo) The songs that comprise this selection are episodes in the story of a young woman’s search for her own identity, where she oscillates between self-confidence and substance-induced bravado, both shrewd and innocent, longing to discover and experience life and love without the binding ties of morality, determined yet astray, travelling from desire to despair, from certainty to confusion, and – after observing the ways of the world – emerging from loss towards a newfound sense of self, luminous and dark: “not of this world”. The cover would be this image ♥ 6 Quote
IamThatGirlLily Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 One of my favorite song from BtD is Off to the Races because of its fast pace, her vocal which make me thing of two people telling us their experience w/ men and love or the same person telling this love story but at 2 periods of time (when living it and when being reminiscent of it). This song is and is about an obsessive, unhealthy, schizophrenic yet beautiful relationship. It's about submission, she's not the victim though but the mastermind of everything. It's about getting what you want and desire from love and living it. So here is my playlist, showing Lana soft and sultry/crazy side: OFF TO THE RACES: LOVE MURDERER 01. Go Go Dancer 02. Put the Radio On 03. Playing Dangerous 04. Trash Magic 05. Kinda Outta Luck 06. Dum Dum 07. Serial Killer 08. Never Let Me Go Bonus track: 09. The Man I Love Cover: 2 Quote
Sitar Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 There was a period before Lana was famous--back when she was feeling that rejection, I think an interview said around the time Ke$ha was number 1--that she was writing pop songs (quite well, I might add). I tried to imagine this coming to fruition. Maybe she'd emphasize her "dangerous" side a little more, or go by just plain LANA in the spirit of other pop stars. Thus was born the DADDY ISSUES EP! 1. Kinda Outta Luck 2. Ooh Baby 3. Hey Lolita Hey 4. Daddy Issues (I like to imagine this with clearer vocals and simpler production) 5. Dum Dum 6. Gogo Dancer 7. She's Not Me 8. Backfire Bonus: 9. Match Made in Heaven 10. Paris 4 Quote
Mileena Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 resurrecting this thread because i love the idea. Miss America 1) Come When You Call Me A.M.E.R.I.C.A (V2) 2) Hollywood's Dead 3) Dum Dum (V2) 4) Hundred Dollar Bill 5) Summer of Sam 6) Driving in Cars With Boys 7) This Is What Makes Us Girls (First demo) 8) Trash (Miss America) [*Miss World Edition*] 9) Big Bad Wolf 10) Backfire This EP focuses on Lana's sexier and glamorous but trashy side hence the title 'Miss America'. It's a contest that women dream of winning, but in reality it's actually pretty trashy and wrong. 4 Quote
