So, as of recently, I've gotten into Amanda Palmer.

She used to be in a band called The Dresden Dolls and I'm wondering if anyone else likes her? She's a quite wonderful artist. She's feminist, loud, and fucking demanding!! All I love in an artist.

Her debut album, Who Killed Amanda Palmer, was her greatest success. I definitely recommend her to any fans of Regina Spektor or Kate Nash. Lyrical genius. :) Check her out.

I love her so fucking much. "The bed song" is a masterpiece. It's such a shame that she's underrated in the music world...

Fangirling over Lorde since 1996

Yeah. :/ But she's loud and seems bratty. That's what draws me to her. I really love The Bed Song. :3 Well.. that and Trout Heart Replica and The Point Of It All

I love her in spite of lots of factors telling me not to :toofunny: "Mandy Goes to Med School" is life affirming

I have Theatre Is Evil on my iTunes.

As a person I dislike her, that bullshit about crowdsourcing local musicians was sickening and she should feel awful

Her EP covering Radiohead songs as well as the Dresden Dolls album Yes, Virgnia are my favourites of her works. I have 2 say tho, the idea of Evelyn Evelyn rubbed me the wrong way tbh.

despite the fact she later compensated the artists, could you elaborate on this? i followed the story as it broke but in my mind i never quite understood why it was considered so outrageous. it basically sounds like an unpaid internship but on a more temporary basis tbh. that is to say, you do it for the experience.

She had a touring orchestra assembled, which would be paid. She wanted additional local musicians at each stop to perform, despite having a full arrangement already, and paid them in hugs and beer.

It's not that she doesn't have the money, which clearly she did since they eventually did get paid, but it's that she felt it was okay to exploit fans because she thought it would make them happy

Watch the TED video she did. She explained it.

I'm not really into her music... I mean, some of her lyrics are great ("some" because I haven't heard all her songs) and the music too, but it's just not my cup of tea in my current phase of life. I appreciate her as an artist, though.

And the wind I know it’s cold

i have such mixed feelings about her.

I kind of wanted to get into her, cause a lot of people compare her to Emilie Autumn... but her personality puts me off, she often comes of like an immature person who does offensive shit just to seem like a rebel (well, Emilie also is like this sometimes, so...).
At the same time, I appreciate a lot of things about her. It's quite possible that I may grow to genuinely like her one day...I've only heard some of her Dresden Dolls songs, need to listen to Theatre Is Evil one day... since a lot of people praised it.

i am nothing and should be everything
