LB Karaoke Contest S3: Round 1 - "Put Your Favourite Record On!"

Finally! The 3rd season of the Karaoke Contest is about to start.

Are you all excited? I know, me too!

We might have a bit of delay today, because obviously some contestants couldn't get their shit together and PM me their entries in time or didn't even bother to send them at all, lol. Once the ultimate deadline is over, I'll post the entries. Also, could some mod be so kind and move this to the contest section? Thx in advance.

Anyway...I'm ULTRAVIOLENCE and me and the amazing @ will be your hosts tonight!

As you can see in the banner above the 14 contestants were asked to cover one of their favourite songs. Not too difficult, isn't it? However, picking one of your favourite songs might reveal itself as a bit tricky, since that particular song you've chosen to sing might end up impossible for you to sing. Surprisingly, there really isn't a lot of Lana present in this round, which is good since she's supposed to appear somewhere close to the end (saving the best for the last! ).

To my surprise, yes I was indeed surprised by that, all of the contestants did a decent job on their covers and they're all very different from each other. Lots of different artists, different styles...

But before I end up having three pages of blah I should start telling you how things will work out this season.

• This season we have 14 contestants participating in this competion.The best case would be to have 12 rounds with one-two elimination per round.
• I'll ask the voters to take their time to listen to each submission and vote for their THREE favourite entries. There will be 72 hours to vote each round. Since there is no option to close the poll automatically it'll take at least 72 hours...as soon as I can arrive.
• The contestant, whose entry has reached the least amount of votes will be eliminated and his/her identity will be revealed. He/she won't be able return for the rest of the season.

Another thing I'd like the voters to do is to actually review the entries and to tell us why you think contestant X, Y and Z did the best jobs. I think it's very important for the contestants to see the critique given by other LB members in order for them to know how they can improve during the next round. Also, if no one comments this will be a boring-ass and shitty contest.

I'm still waiting for four members to send me their entries. If they're not here by 7 PM / 12 AM, the contestants will be disqualified from the competition. I hope we won't have to start the season with 5 or 6 eliminations during the first round.

I love how lady-like you sound at times. Very glamorous way of singing...it's not perfect but it still sounds very good and you managed to hit almost all the notes. It also doesn't come off as too forced. It's very laidback and chilled. I like that! Good job!

I totally agree! It doesn't have to be perfect, it's your own style and what you add to the song that makes it more interesting to listen to.

I have to admit that this entry was a huge surprise for me. And I think this contestantant did a really good job. I don't know what it is but I really like your way of singing. I also liked the little harmonies and how you tried to make this song a bit more straight-forward you know what I mean? Great job!

Okay, now this entry is probably the most professional one. American Idol, look at your next contestant. This was absolutely gorgeous and amazing. Great singing, great guitar-playing and a very interesting song choice. Definitely going to listen to the original one now!

If Weird Al had talent, he would be you! (I mean that in a good way!)  "1:40 - 1:55" was my favorite part, I'd like to hear what you sound like singing lower in one song - if it fits into your vocal range. Good job

For a minute, I thought it was an orginial song, not because I didn't know know it, but because you truly made this song your own. When it hit me this was an Amy song, I was literally in shock. Good job

Let me say, that I absoultely love the vibe this one has. I really like the harmonies and the instrumental. You also have a very theatrical voice! It needs a bit more training, but I think you did a decent job and while i don't know the original I can say that I liked this enough to listen to the original.

Oh, look. It's another Amy song! I like your voice, but it seems too forced and too loud at times. Anyway I think it's not that bad, it gets better as the song progresses.

I think you sounded better the second half of the song than in the begining. I think you need to practice your vocals more and find 'your voice'. You're not bad, but I feel like with more practice you could do better. You did a good job

Okay, now...Let me first say that I think it's nice that you participated and all and I know you obviously did it for the fun of being part of this...but you're not a good singer. You hit some really nice notes here and there but overall it's just not good.
