trayertrash Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 We all know Lady Gaga is one of the most influential artists of all time. She inspires huge stars, such as Katy, Nicki and Rihanna, who, since her arrival, have mimicked her style and outlandous performances. But today, we're going to talk about Lana Del Rey America's Hipster's Honeybee. Is this copying so legit? Is Lana's mimicking a fucking bore? Let's se... LANA DEL REY BEFORE LADY GAGA Some of her old lyrics "Then I got tired and ended up in some lame department store and that's okay, cause I found a really cool belt" "I met you with your mother and she had green shoes, she was so cool, it was fine" With the emergence of Gaga, everything about Lana changed. Her name, her lyrical style, her hair, her new Americana references. Below are just a few examples I could remember off the top of my head. If I dig deeper I'm sure I could find more. GAGA VS BLUE JEANS Gaga: Fancy Pants "See that boy, watch him go, blue jeans with an ass like whoa" Lana: Blue Jeans "Blue Jeans, white shirt, you walked into the room you know you made my eyes burn" Gaga: Speechless "With your James Dean glossy eyes" Lana "It was like James Dean, for sure" Gaga: stutters lyrics in mutlipe songs such as the hits Poker Face , Paparazzi, Alejandro, Judas and Applause Lana: "you're so fresh to death and sick as ca-cancert" Gaga: Bad Kids "I'm a selfish punk" Retro Dance Freak "Take a sip for the hip-hop" Lana "You were sort of punk rock, I grew up on hip hop" Gaga: Fashion Of His Love "As fitting as McQueen" Just Dance "How'd I turn my shirt inside out" Lana "You fit me better than my favorite sweater" HEAVY METAL Gaga: Has a song called Heavy Metal Lover Lana: Angels Forever (Forever Angels) "Heavy metal lions" MONEY HONEY Gaga: Has a song called Money Honey Lana: Has a song called Money Hunny I misunderstood the recording/release of Money Hunny as being debatable. JOHN F. KENNEDY Gaga: Government Hooker "Put your hands on me, John F Kennedy" Lana: JFK "You've got a way like JFK" Lana had referenced JFK in Marilyn Monroe/Puppy Love, though, Gaga may have been the first to name drop him. DOWNTOWN Gaga: Ribbons "Only difference between downtown" No Floods "Now I'm the princess of a downtown train" Black Jesus † Amen Fashion "Moved downtown when I was just nineteen" Lana: JFK "He was the king of the town" Lolita "with the boys downtown" Video Games "take that body downtown" DADDY + MARILYN MONROE + JESUS REFERENCES Gaga: Dance In The Dark "Marilyn, Judy Sylvia" Black Jesus † Amen Fashion "Jesus is the new black" Yoü and I "My daddy and Nebraska and Jesus Christ" Lana: Body Electric "Elvis is my daddy, Marilyn is my mother, Jesus is my bestest friend" RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD Gaga: Judas "Jesus is my virtue, Judas is the demon that I cling to" Lana: Gods and Monsters "Me and God we don't get along" BLUE Gaga: First EP was titled Red and Blue Again Again "to kinda blue" Dope "Bell Bottom Blue" Lana: Honeymoon "cruise to the blues" "dark blue" Covered the song Blue Velvet, Old Money "blue hydrangeas" Shades Of Cool "shades of blue" West Coast "boy blue" JAZZ Gaga: has credited jazz as being one of her favorite genres Did a jazz version of her song Yoü and I Made a jazz album with Tony Bennett called Cheek To Cheek featuring several jazz covers Lana: has credited jazz as being one of her favorite genres Released a jazz version of her song Young and Beautiful Covered the jazz classic Cry Me A River Brooklyn Baby "my jazz collection's rare" Ultraviolence "I'm your jazz singer" Shades Of Cool "blue eyes and jazz" Called her song Terrance Loves You jazzy GUNS Gaga Lana EXTRAS Gaga Lana 8 Quote

evilentity Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 You know, it kinda doesn't work, even as a joke, when like half the stuff you mentioned is in reverse order chronologically. 19 Quote Stalking you has sorta become like my occupation.

Lana's JFK obsession predates the writing of "Government Hooker", and "Marilyn Monroe"/"Puppy Love" which references JFK predates it's release. 4 Quote Stalking you has sorta become like my occupation.

I've seen it's release labeled as 2006-2008. Also, she didn't name drop JFK in Puppy Love which is why I didn't count it in. 0 Quote

I'll mark those off then. I know it was a reference, but I was referring to a direct name drop. 0 Quote

Gaga mentioned walking in Bad Romance (2009) and mentioned Papa (similar to Papi) in Paparazzi (2008) and gangsta in Paper Gangsta (2008) Gaga has also dyed her hair brown/wore wigs and gowns pre-Lana 6 Quote
