It just came to my mind that empty periods of time used to be made bearable by leaks of old songs, which might explain why this drought is harder than others were -

I don't think she cares much about the coherence between an album's closer and the next one's opener. I know she already said she did (or at least, that she was trying not to break to coherence of the story she was telling throughout her discography) but I don't see any continuity between Bel Air and Cruel World, DLMBM and Love, or even The Other Woman and Honeymoon. I'd rather think she chooses one particular record's opener considering its tracklist only. Thus MAC would be very logical -

And that last series of posts was already following one month of emptiness Yeah i guess “that bitches which” works sonically better but semantically it literally is the same isn’t it -

Cinnamon and Sylvia still are THAT bitches that it’s so hard not to play snippets of at least once a week -

Yeah and it works with everything she’s been trying to do since 2014. New stuff is given little value until it’s known that it won’t be released -

Yeah, but I mean, the Israel thing wasn’t that much of a big deal that everyone would have spoken about for months... the ones who were upset by her position still are today, and the ones who didn’t care still don’t -

nothing to be happy about concerning this date. I mean, come on, she’s being disrespectful here. It’s six months and a half between the whatever-you-call-it first song out and the record. I can’t be satisfied with that. -

Why does she always do this? I was going well before she released MAC, i wasn’t even thinking about her next record. When she said it wouldn’t be out until 2019 it felt painful. But FOUR MONTHS from now.... and why???? and I hope she’s not changing anything on the record but she probably will. This really isn’t hyping me because that literally was the latest we could get. Except for a potential delay, but having a date set won’t stop her if she wants to delay it. -

What if she comes up with a performance of Coachella and a speech about how the feelings of universal love and peace that she felt within her inner self were relevant to the political tensions that she observed were rising in the US around the mid-term elections but also coherent with her own journey into the blue which was only partially achieved through her album that she made with Jack Antonoff and which isn’t coming until March, and even if she’s not in tHaT pLaCe yEt, she might be for the next record -

i’m not saying nothing is up (the record is) but that we won’t be given any reason for the dryness of november -

No there’s no particular reason, it’s Lana, there never has been. she’s finished her project for a while now, at least i hope so, because otherwise it means that she’s changed it since she described it (already 2.5 months ago lol) which would be the ultimate bummer. In my personal case snippets are a curse more than anything actually... they’ve managed to get four of the non-released songs having already aged. our current situation would be worse without them because it would feel even drier, but we’ll regret it when finally having the album really...... the way this era is organized is such a shame because the music is SO good. -

At this point I can’t even picture her announcing something related to the album. It would feel so weird and out of the blue after decades of dryness. I really don’t know how she’ll get things back in hand, she has ruined her pre-release so violently. -

November was the driest in a long, long while. October 2016 could never. -

no she portrays herself as an independent woman now and that’s better tbh i wouldn’t mind getting no magazine shoot at all... the LFL ones were pretty ugly and she didn’t look like herself, and i like that she’s less paying attention to appearances. it would be coherent with the era if we didn’t have any also: i don’t know if I am or if she is the one to be blamed for already having worn out Cinnamon but that’s a shame because it’s so great -

It’s indecent that she hasn’t given ANY information about the record in a whole month when two songs from it have been out for 2 months and a half. And that nothing tends to show that she’s going to anytime soon. -

and scrapped forever. They probably are great precisely because they were more committed than the trashy ones we got on the record. And that’s a shame we never got to hear any song in which she was taking a stand. There are high chances that at least some of them were part of the 18 tracks Lana has said to be on the record for sure around May 2018 -

yeah but Cherry and White Mustang were only recorded in March/April 2017... which we tend to forget when opposing the acoustic/quieter/romantic and the political/collaborative/messy sides of the album and the album would’ve been the worst thing ever if 13 B, Cherry and White Mustang hadn’t been in it -

What if she came through and had a song not in English? Spanish would be the most likely then, it’d be cool -

it’s quite annoying that she hasn’t given us ANYTHING since October, for sure. But last time she did that (going away from social media for a while) I really loved when she came back, which was with the suit photo without makeup but she looked so cool and it was such a character evolution. She wasn’t announcing anything but I liked that she came back after months of emptiness, seemingly having new directions in mind, and confirming that she was working with Jack. If she doesn’t say anything until the end of the month a January release is very unlikely though -

To me the picture she was conveying is so harmful to social representations and unauthentic to her. She was playing with the fact that she didn’t feel well. Now she does and I’m happy she got over this persona. but I know that those times had cool things that we don’t have anymore (like great visuals) and I guess we just don’t agree -

Her vocals on LFL were globally lazy. I remember first hearing White Mustang and being striked by how lifeless she sounded on the second verse, and how nasal her voice sounded, and I hated that her voice broke when she sings ‘you just couldn’t stop’. I think she sung through paper on that one but it’s such a shame that the cool and relatable side of it was underpowered by the production (from the second chorus - what were they thinking...) and this way of singing. what I TRULY don’t want is her getting back to her submissive persona. The overall vibe of antifeminism is what I don’t like on Ultraviolence, and it has fortunately disappeared from her records. Her way of singing was also particularly annoying on the PWYC verses (the same lazy kind as on Fine China) although she really snapped at the end of the song -

I think she saw her album as something very different from what it really is (or from the consensual perception of it). She had probably given up on the acoustic direction long before BAR leaked. She thought she was taking a stand, but her ‘political’ songs (I’m still somehow puzzled about this word for those songs which have nothing political) didn’t go anywhere. Writing half of the lyrics as if they were those of a random love song and trying to inject social preoccupations on those of the other half isn’t a good idea anyway. And on some songs it gets mixed with good-intentioned ideas/energies she wants to convey (notably on Change or BPBP) but it doesn’t make any sense and it is mainly what made this album a mess. She probably thought of her exploring different genres as something valuable, positive, interesting. But lyrically, sonically, it touched me so much less than her precious records. I think the most interesting part of the process of its creation is the early 2016 time at which she felt more spiritual, a little bit darker, and wrote the most beautiful songs. Out of the mess that came afterwards were born a few gems, but it remains a shame that things turned out this way. She probably took a lot of the wrong decisions in 2017, but in my opinion, the album was already a mess before that. And the collaborations were most likely already there. Sad to think of all those songs that ended up scrapped. Of course there are Yosemite, Roses Bloom For You, but I really think the political outtakes were worthy because it seemed like they were getting a little further than the Coachella-like ones.
