  1. I can officially say I'm not a fan of Lana anymore after this. She's a sellout - I can't believe she accepted any amount of money to perform for this trashy family. This is the final straw. I just don't think of her the same anymore. It's a joke that she says she's a fan of Kurt Cobain. Kurt would have never in a million years been associated with her. He hated shit like this. She's truly sold out for fame. Now I'm wondering if she was any different from the start. Maybe she wasn't. I guess if any opportunity arose, she would have taken anything. I'm not supporting her or buying any of her stuff anymore. I'm not gonna go around bashing her either, I just had to get that off my chest. I know I'm just one person and I don't matter to her or anyone but it is what it is. I'm sorry it took me too long to see right through her.

  2. From justjared.com:

Lana Del Rey shines in gold for a pre-wedding performance for the Kardashian family on Friday night (May 23) in Versailles, France.

The 27-year-old singer had girl time with the family — Kim KardashianKhloe KardashianKylie JennerKendall JennerKris Jenner, and Kourtney Kardashian.

    “Magnificent voice @@lanadelrey #kardashian #versailles #fun #wedding #reallove,” Giancarlo Giammetti captioned a photo of Lana singing.

I can't say I'm too thrilled that she performed for this trash family. I guess they paid her well...

  3. Paradise took a more cinematic turn than even Born to Die. It had nice percussion but was not as heavily hip-hop influenced as Born to Die was. With Dan Auerbach producing, and the way Blake played on the guitar during the tour, makes me think Ultraviolence will take a more rock/grunge inspired turn. There's no doubt in my mind that she would never abandon the cinematic nature of her music; I mean, that's her schtick basically. And if Once Upon a Dream is any indication of where the new album is going, it will be a natural progression from Paradise rather than Born to Die. I'm saying all of this loosely, no one knows anything until it drops, of course lol but those are just my thoughts

    This so much.

  4. I’ve just listened to this song for the first time in a while since it leaked and I’ve finally formed together my complete theory of its meaning. I believe this song is very influenced by Barrie, more specifically, his battle with depression. From Barrie’s lyrics, tweets, and dark influences I think it’s obvious that he is struggling, or at least has at some point in his life, struggled with depression.  Here’s my interpretation:

We all know that Lana has spent her whole life making her world into something she, personally, finds beautiful. This is most apparent in the Ride monologue. She has been attempting to mold her life into a work of art since she was a teenager, even before that. So, when she entered her relationship with Barrie, she was inviting him into her world of ideal beauty. In doing this, I think she hoped Barrie would then find himself “beautiful” since he was worthy of a spot in her self-created lifestyle. However, he didn’t. Barrie was still finding himself immersed in a life of blackness and depression. In Black Beauty, Lana is singing to Barrie, trying to find a middle ground between her beautiful lifestyle and Barrie’s dark attitude.

In the verses of the song she sings about making changes to her appearance and surroundings, making everything around her “black". She is trying to almost recreate a world where Barrie will feel beautiful (since his personal idea of beauty is very dark and twisted). I think that instead of trying to make Barrie’s mindset adapt to her idea of beautiful, Lana is altering herself to “suit the mood of his soul” as a last attempt at finding equilibrium in their relationship.

In the chorus, she sings, “Oh, what can I do? Life is beautiful but you don’t have a clue. Sun and ocean blue, their magnificence, it don’t make sense to you.” In this part of the song, I believe Lana is feeling exhausted in her attempt to make Barrie feel like he belongs in her much brighter “work of art” lifestyle. I feel as if she has almost given up. She’s saying that life doesn’t have to be dark to be beautiful, but Barrie doesn’t understand that. The sun and ocean blue references are there to symbolize the simplistic beauty in life in a sort of “the best things in life are free” sort of way. Also, the sun (yellow) and the ocean (blue) represent the brighter colors Lana finds attractiveness in opposing the black and dark blue Barrie finds beautiful.

Basically, I just think this song is a venting session for Lana. She feels as though nothing she can do can convince Barrie to live a much more optimistic life. She fears he will never find the magnificence in something as simple as sunshine and that he will forever be trapped in his dark universe. I think the song takes a very sad yet beautifully haunting tone on purpose; it’s something Barrie himself would find beautiful. I think considering all this, the song is much deeper than I originally thought. Any questions or critique on my theory would be greatly appreciated!

  5. Well, you could have made a case for our sass, and not our opposing opinions, causing you to be entirely so butthurt. But you made an ass out of yourself in the process and so the irony stands :) Feel free to drag this out even further babe, I'll be waiting for you x

Ok, I'm now having 'Retard Mileena' as my new member title.

    You are an icon.

This is the last time I'm responding to you two about this matter. And I'll be completely serious with you.

You realize that from the very start, my words were "I have a feeling he is no good for her." I simply stated that this was my FEELING. Meaning I didn't even allege that it is in any way a fact. I didn't say something like "I met him and he's no good" or "She should break up with him, he must be no good." I'm very careful with my words, and I just said that it's my feeling. I know damn well that I don't know him personally. Everyone has a feeling about something, it's human nature. You can take one look at a greasy cheeseburger you're about to eat, and feel like it'll make you sick later on. But you eat it anyway. When I look at pics of Barrie, I simply don't get good vibes. That is all I said from the start; nothing more and nothing less.

Now the question that remains is why you can't even read a statement like this without getting offended and defensive. You're either 1. Barrie 2. too emotionally invested in the matter. You know you had the option to keep scrolling right past, right?

  6. What if she continued with the Born to Die/ Paradise layout scheme, but just changed the background, her picture, and font color? I always thought it would be kind of cool if all of her stuff under the name Lana would kinda fit together visually like that.

For some reason, I really like that idea.

  7. dingleberry's not even done anything to directly piss you off, what's your problem? It's a discussion forum so dingleberry can have an opposing view - that's what discussion is, genius. Maybe you should take your twelve post butt out of here.

the irony in this post hurts

There is no irony anywhere. If you two morons can remember the simple trail of events, I simply stated that I "can't shake the feeling that Barrie is no good for her." Then you two trolls popped up with sticks up your asses quoting me, and giving me an attitude about my opinion. So there is no irony anywhere. Like I said before, if you can't handle people's opinions then get out. And to the retard Mileena, dingleberry(lol) quoted me with a nasty response, so of course I'm not gonna be nice to them. He/she doesn't have to do something to "directly piss me off." God, you fools.

  8. dingleberry's not even done anything to directly piss you off, what's your problem? It's a discussion forum so dingleberry can have an opposing view - that's what discussion is, genius. Maybe you should take your twelve post butt out of here.

Why do you keep quoting me? I'd rather my 2 posts than your 2000. Don't you have any responsibilities? Work to do, anything to clean, study? Fuck off.

  9. her mouth is a hot mess now

right, lana should date a healthy, stable guy and sing about it like she does in her other songs. ur no good for me. diet mtn dew. u & i we were born to die. K

I don't get why people like you even join discussion forums if you can't handle anyone's opinion but your own. Seriously, why? You aren't gonna change anyone's views and you certainly aren't helping your cause when you give people attitudes. Forums aren't for people like you <3

  10. Speaking from a guys perspective: I think that women (in general and of most cases) that put on too much makeup just to look pretty really just makes them look more unattractive tbh  :wtf:

Lana in particular has this natural beauty that I find more compelling when she doesn't try, it just comes naturally for her  :flutter:

No one asked for a Mansplanation. You could have perfectly stated your opinion without starting it with "speaking from a guys perspective." Everyone's opinion is equal, bro.

  11. Zach - so far LDR has not let us down with the quality of her releases. Let's have some faith, ok? At least to me she seems to be pursuing an artistic agenda from Day 1. Now that particular agenda might have ended with Tropico or it might not have. But I can't wait to see where she'll take us next.

I do "have faith." You missed my point. And I personally think the quality of Paradise Edition isn't up to par with BTD - so speak for your own damn self.

  12. I feel so sad that the BTD era is ending. I feel like with Lana's changing look and sound, she's lost something epic that she had in BTD. It's hard to pinpoint when this happened. I know I'm not expressing myself too well because I don't even think that I can word what I'm trying to say. I'm not saying she should never change, but she's lost something intangible. I can't describe what it is. I don't find myself too crazy about her recently. She possessed a quality that made me want to see every picture of her, and made me think even the not-so-great looks were amazing. I wanted to hear every song and see every live performance, and even when her voice was shaky, I loved it all the same. She lost whatever "that" quality is.
