Happy Birthday AKA! It's still crazy to me how she managed to capture such an exact, distinct world on this album - I think Queen of the Gas Station and Mermaid Motel encapsulate it best for me. They feel like a mix of watching a movie and taking a peek at a life path I could have taken, but didn't.
My favourite has to be one of: Gramma, Oh Say Can You See, Kill Kill or Pawn Shop Blues, but I love the whole album - it intrigues me every time I listen to it. If Lana ever decides to revisit it, whether it's a re-issue or she just talks about the process of the album, I will be first in line to listen. Endlessly fascinating.

13 hours ago, honeybadger said:i'm like 30% sure it's "later then hospitals"?? "laid up in hospitals"? idk?
and 90% sure it's "sand still on my feet"? but still interpreting
In writing, "laid up in hospitals" makes more sense to my mind, but I only hear her sing "later then" - which I don't fully understand, unless it's like
"So I ended up awkward but sweet,
Later - then [later on/after that] hospitals [I was hospitalised/in and out of hospitals for treatments?]
And still on my feet [I'm still standing after everything]"
I mean I get the story and the meaning of the verse (and it hits fucking hard) but I'm a stickler for lyrics and I wanna know

Dark Blue by No Doubt, and not just because it's called Dark Blue dddd. Her voice would really suit this!

I'm happy about that too. She has so many gems - Never Let Me Go, Damn You, Hollywood's Dead etc. - that she never talked about and it's nice to see her do something with these great songs
Never Let Me Go might be my absolute favourite! She could put all these unreleased songs on a box-set and I'd happily pay for them all!

Apparently people are listening to this via Spotify Singapore, does anyone know if it's true? I don't have Spotify
