  1. Sputnik reviews read as though Hipster Runoff was written by an actual cat sitting on a keyboard randomly hitting keys.
  2. I don't know who it is who is having reaction videos pulled (the label? management? publishers?) but whoever it is is fucking up big time. Youtube videos discussing records don't cost an artist streams, they pump them up. I'm furious that one of the best has seemingly been taken down for the second time (Brady's).
  3. If nothing more came out of this record than that I discovered Tommy, it still would have been a win.
  4. Scalpers suck, but I just don't understand how a magazine publisher would be so committed to not making any money.
  5. When you're right you're right When you're right you're right Even when you're wrong. Up there with my favourite LDR lyrics ever.
  6. That post that Lana is answering reads way creepier than the prospective MV.
  7. I thought I was the only one, but it fits that it's a famous guitar solo created while on acid on the day that Jimi Hendrix died. On the other hand, there are a hundred songs that start with clean electric guitar playing slow arpeggios that it brings to mind, including a bunch of late Velvet Underground outtakes like Sad Song and Satellite of Love.
  8. I"m looking forward to, but also dreading, the review of the album by Professor Skye. He's so dedicated to the idea of the 'death of the author' that I think he's going to waste a lot of time making comments about 'the narrator' and 'I don't know anything about Lana so I don't know if this relates to her at all' when this is the record she's just laid it all out there.
  9. It's impossible to tell the difference between actual redneck country song titles, and someone making fun of redneck country song titles.
  10. Thanks @Elle ! I've loved the Chemtrails theme, but I'm going to be switching between these two depending on my mood
  11. It's actually something you can do without being rich, if you have the time and the energy to track the equipment down secondhand, and spent ages working out where everything needs to sit. Or you can be like me, and not even have a CD player in the house anymore.
  12. It's his living room in a two bedroom apartment . It's just that unlike me either listening in my car or on my phone, he has speakers set up properly and a couch in the middle which is the place you're meant to sit to listen properly. I've listened to LFL and NFR there, and it blows away any other situation I've been in to listen to them. Edit: Also, if anyone's keeping track, the Australian CD version has the censored 'Fingertips'.
  13. I nabbed the CD at JB Hi-Fi - they only had the alternate cover, which is slightly annoying as I wanted the standard, but I'm happy to have it. I listened to half of it in the car coming back, and it sounded incredible. I'm supposed to be listening to it at a friend's place who has a dedicated listening room. I cannot wait.
  14. This thread's making me emotional. I wish I could be at one of these, but enjoying reading everyone's experiences.
  15. I just drove through an unexpected storm, blasting the leak - the last time I'll listen until 9.02 tomorrow morning after I get the CD. The whole thing has grown on me, but the big surprise is Peppers. (Spoilering even though it's not really a spoiler)
  16. The poster is more interested in the design side, rather than the grammar side, and is using a style from the 60s/70s when a lot of movie posters had some small text above the title, and then the title in quotation marks, eg
  17. Was 'Angelina' a Tik Tok hit? Because if it wasn't before, it feels like it will be now.
  18. I've been reading the reviews so far, and noticed something that comes up so often - journalists are half listening to the record and half basing it on the press release. I'm not an insider or psychic, but I can guarantee that the media pack mentions the three collaborations she's had with Father John Misty. If you're also scratching your head about what those are, the other two are the UV/Freak video, and Buddy's Rendezvous, neither of which are really this sort of collaboration.
  19. Well I cracked and listened to the leak, and although I might save more listening until I have the CD in front of me, I'm going to take this chance to bow out of being around here. I really don't need to hear a bunch of dumb takes on songs expressed by children. I do want to give a shoutout to Eclipse, though, for proving with his opinion of Kintsugi that leakers are great at reading emails that aren't intended for them, but generally don't know the first thing about life or music.
