  1. Mike said in his interview that the music he was talking about was for “this album” and not for “the next album”. Then he said that he and Lana hadn’t finished anything yet, but he plans on working with her a lot in the future. Yes he said they hadn’t completed “anything”, but I really don’t think he meant they literally haven’t completed even one song together. I think he means that he came onboard in the late stages of BB/RCS to do a few tracks or to make some tweaks, and after that they made plans to make one or more full albums together which have yet to be completed. I have a feeling Jack and/or Zach handled most of the production on BB/RCS, which would explain why Mike said he hadn’t completed anything since he views BB/RCS as mostly a project done by other producers. Mike was also smoking hella weed in that interview which probably made his wording a little unclear, and he seemed like he was being intentionally vague about Lana as if he has been told to keep hush. Mike is famous for completely reworking Yeezus in the final days before release. He might be doing that for BB/RCS, but Yeezus was a streaming only album which allowed Mike and Kanye to tweak it up until the last minute. Lana does big physical sales numbers but bad streaming numbers compared to Kanye. The only case that I see Lana putting out a streaming only album would be if this is a covers album, or her album of unreleased songs. But from the BB snippet and video clip, and from the way Lana talked about it addressing QFTC, it definitely seems like this will be an album of new and original songs with high production budget and MV’s, ie. the album will almost certainly get a physical release. There is a possibility that the album could be mostly unreleased old songs (Cherry Blossom), along with a handful of new songs (Blue Bannisters), in which case the album would likely be streaming only and could possibly be still incomplete and delayed. We learned from COCC that the vinyl printing process takes months. Lana missed her September release for COCC because she announced September like 6 months in advanced if I remember correctly, when the album was still a work in progress. Lana would not announce a release date for an incomplete album that is getting a physical release two months out when she knows that the vinyl printing alone would take more than two months. So in summary my opinion is that there is about 75% chance that BB/RCS is complete and is coming July 4th. If the album is incomplete and significantly delayed, then it is definitely a streaming only album and not a physical release. I really don’t think it is delulu to think the album is 100% complete and coming. I’m also still holding onto the slim possibility that RCS and BB are two separate albums that are both coming out this summer, but that actually does make me delulu
  2. OK so I was listening to the Nicki album and I was like... why do all these beats sound so old? And why does she sound so young? And then I found out it’s actually the Spotify release of her 2009 mixtape, not a new album. I still think we have a lot A-list releases coming, just have to wait a little longer... maybe until July 4
  3. omg NICKI MINAJ just released and also J Cole who idgaf about because it’s not melodic... but he’s still a major release. A newbie like Olivia Rodriguez can release her music during covid because she’s trying to establish her fame rather than trying to sell concert tickets, but I feel like A-listers are saving their material for the post-covid world because they want fresh material to sell concert tickets. Finally today the CDC said fully vaccinated people can stop wearing their masks, tons of music festivals in the last weeks just announced they are not cancelled and dropped their lineups, and now today Nicki and J Cole dropped. I feel like A-listers have all just been sitting on their music and today is the first day of a FLOOD of blockbuster summer releases. I hope Lana did the same, like COCC was the cute Covid album for her fans to listen to at home, and BB/RCS is the huge songs to top the charts and play at concerts and festivals. But even if BB/RCS is incredible, Lana is going to have huge competition this summer. I fully trust Lana can deliver, I just hope her management/marketing team is effective, and I hope society can notice and appreciate whatever she puts out.
  4. The clip is so beautiful!! It’s Jack‘s piano chords and Mike’s ambient soundscape. I love Jack but I am happy to see someone else steer the sound of the song because some of Jack’s songs are good but cheesy, and the second half of Chemtrails made me feel Lana x Jack is becoming creatively stagnant. That ambient whispery sound on Blue Banisters tho! I guess that came from Mike Dean. It’s so dreamy and meditative and just slightly uneasy. The lyrics and tone remind me of Fine China. That ambient fuzz kind of reminds me of Heroin but more minimal.
  5. So for Taylor, Folklore was the main event and Evermore was kind of the victory lap or the B-sides companion record. So do you think that for Lana, was COCC the main event or will RCS be the main event? I am thinking they will definitely be different enough that RCS won’t just be a B-sides album. I generally like COCC but wouldn’t it be great if that was just a teaser/prelude and the best is yet to come.
  6. Is it just me or does the title Rock Candy Sweet remind you of Watermelon Sugar High? I really hope that is NOT the sound of Rock Candy Sweet. And yeah Blue Bannisters sounds more like a poem than a song. I'm thinking back to when I was a kid, sitting at the top of the staircase and holding onto the bars of the bannister and listening to whatever my parents were talking about. As How2Disappear mentioned, there is definitely a parallel between the bars of the iron gate and the bars of a banister.
  7. I think Rock Candy Sweet will be Lana’s quarantine album. I think we are going to hear Grenadine Quarantine, If This is the End I Want a Boyfriend, and Dealer on this album. I think the vibe will be kind of pop-punk lofi bedroom music, like Lana is bored at home with some guitars and synthasizers and just writing her frustration and boredom into her lyrics and making raw and unpolished music, faster and more energetic than COCC. Rock Candy is sweet but rough and spiky, that’s how the album is gonna sound.
  8. Lana just captioned her IG “Swing It High Angelina On Your Sycamore Tree” which is a lyric on her unreleased song Cherry Blossom. Are we thinking she will put that song on Rock Candy Sweet? Or is she finally preparing her unreleased album? Or is she just randomly reminiscing about 6 year old unreleased tracks for no reason?
  9. So I remember that in the past Lana has used the word “record” to describe both her albums and her singles. Does anyone remember past examples of when she used this word, and if she has mostly used it to describe an album or mostly used it to describe a single? I am really hoping that Rock Candy Sweet is an album and not a single. Any Lana album with the word “sweet” in it is guaranteed to be a little bit edgy and sarcastic, so maybe dealer is on this one.
  10. I don’t hate the scene of the girls in masks. The obvious connection I see to Lana is that this is kind of Lana’s way of apologizing or making amends for the mesh mask. But I also think it’s deeper than that. At the beginning of the video, I assumed that this video is set around 2007 and the girl is playing Lana when she was young, but then we see the waitresses in the mask and you realize that the video is set in the covid era, and that gives it an anachronistic twist. It makes me think, these girls are not playing a young Lana, but rather Lana is seeing these girls and it reminds her of herself when she was that age. Also, the song is about how she was happier when she had nothing, just waitressing to survive. I think the mask imagery fits into that nicely, like these are front line workers who are risking their health to make some cash, but they are doing it with grace and joy. In the middle of a brutal world ravaged by pandemic, there is this little pocket of beauty and the girls are the God of that small world. I know the broken arm was just a coincidence, but I also think that imagery fits in thematically with the video. We have the beauty and serenity of the roller blade dance, and then we have the image of the cast implying she fell and hurt herself. It’s like the most beautiful things in life are worth suffering for, you can’t have the beauty without the pain. Or like how the passion and recklessness of youth can turn into scarred and jaded adulthood, but it’s still beautiful while it lasts.
  11. Ok the White Dress MV is so gorgeous and stunning I just cannot stop watching it. I think it is my favorite Lana MV and I really love a lot of her MV’s. It’s also one of my favorite songs Lana ever released, and now with the video it is just so perfect. PS fuck Alex Petradis at the Guardian for ONCE AGAIN nuking Lana’s Metacritic score. Like every fucking time Lana puts out an album this man is waiting to trash it and give her her lowest score. Next album cycle we seriously need to organize a campaign to tweet, mail letters, make phone calls etc to the guardian to demand they get someone less biased to write their review. It is so bullshit that they keep allowing this man who clearly dislikes Lana to keep writing her reviews.
  12. I think the subject/object ambiguity is real and intentional in LMLYLAW. Either Lana wants to be loved like she is a woman, or she wants to love her man in the same way as a man loves a woman. Either Lana wants to hold her man as if he is a baby, or she wants to hold her man as if she is a baby.
  13. WTF. I just read the news that Justin Bieber announced yesterday that he will be releasing his album on March 19th. I feel so bad for Lana getting blocked from billboard #1 once again, she has the worst luck with release dates. Seriously fuck Bieber for doing this to her, he is trash.
  14. Well he has done good work for Lana in the past so I can’t say that I’m disappointed they are working together again, but why would Lana post a 10+ year old video of herself talking about how she wants to work with John Waters or David Lynch if she wasn’t in fact working with one of them? Maybe there is some chance one of them will be the co-director or something? If she posted that video for literally no reason, that is just teasing us, so I hope one of them can be involved in some way. I always felt the Honeymoon video felt very Lynchian and dreamlike.
  15. So are we thinking the video is directed by John Waters? It would be a dream come true if it does end up being Lynch, but the style doesn’t really seem Lynch like to me. I’ll riot if it’s not one of them or at least some other A-list auteur director after she posted that clip name dropping them.
  16. I loved LMLYLAW since my first listen. It’s not one of Lana’s all time best songs, but it’s definitely in the top 50% and maybe even top 25% of her discography. The only reason why everyone hated it is because everyone wanted a big dramatic song to blow us away for the first single, and she gave us something quiet and soft instead. If it had been released as just an album track, I am sure everyone would have loved it. Then COCC was released and we got that big dramatic and undeniably beautiful song we wanted, so now we are finally able to appreciate LMLYLAW for what it is.
  17. People who go to Alaska in the winter are mostly trying to see the aurora borealis, I guess that's why she's there
  18. Lana said something in Mojo about how she is becoming more and more serene. I guess that could mean LDR8 is going to be like her Enya album with fluttery ethereal vocals and meditative ambient production, or she could do the opposite and build the record around Dealer, channeling all her rage and darkness into the album so that she can rid herself of those emotions and find serenity that way. And we are gonna need a Dark But Just a Game MV where they recreate the night of the party and hire an actress to play the role of Madonna, and also we are gonna need a Wild at Heart MV that is a sequel to Ride the reunites the original cast! I love COCC MV and looking forward to White Dress but here's manifesting at least two more high budget MV's in addition to two or three Chucky and Charlie low budget indie videos.
