yeah his father might have had feelings for men but actually Andre (writer of the book) stated in a Q&A that mr. perlman was talking about the love between him and his wife, not with a man. However, i don't believe it lolbut what i said was Elio asking "does mom know?" it not might be about his love for Oliver. Maybe he asked this for what his father talked about. You get it?? Does his mom know that her husband came close to that thing but something always held him back. it's the both. Elio sees peaches outside as oliver but when he fucks it he thinks it as a vagina.....this boooyyyyyyy yeah you should read it!! there is an epilogue that they didn't add to movie, it's everything.
