Honeymooner Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Anyone catch the references? In "Terrence Loves You," there are several occurrences of "Ground control to Major Tom," an obvious nod to David Bowie's "Space Oddity." And in another song, I forget which one now (was listening to Honeymoon on the way to work today), there's a reference to "Hotel California." Lana has good taste. 0 Quote
InTheSummer Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 The reference to Hotel California is in God Knows I Tried 0 Quote
Honeymooner Posted September 19, 2015 Author Posted September 19, 2015 Thanks, you saved me from having to fast-listen to all the songs again 1 Quote
GetFree Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 I think the dumb lyrics "Stranger than a stranger" are a lyric reference of an old song cuz' exactly yesterday I was in my common kitchen and another dude had a really 70's sounding slow rock song and the man said "stranger than a stranger" and I was like WTF, it isn't just a stupid lyrics, she's actually referencing that song maybe! 0 Quote By the way, thanks for that, on the way, I'll pray for ya But you'll need a miracle America
DeadAgainst Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Also, "Terrence Loves You" always really reminds me of a track from Heathen or The Next Day (that sax is totally "Dirty Boys") and specifically this song So, props to her for doing a Bowie tribute without only referencing the obvious tracks 0 Quote
