Lust For Life is chosen as the best record of 2017 when the critics of the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter. rank their (personal) best records. Meaning, all critics of the newspaper get to rank their personal favorite records, they haven't made a single list.

 

And I'm not surprised it is that journalist who loves Lana who picked her record to be no.1 lol

Translation: That the queen of sadness suddenly smiles on an album cover might be objectionable. But who wouldn't be happy after recording something so consummately/perfect as her fourth album? Lana Del Rey gives us 72 minutes of Hollywood-y orchestras, narcotic hip-hop beats, sweet girl group harmonies and melancholic film noir rock. She sings like an angel on valium. She writes lyrics where an exuberant/energetic lust for life collides with feverish weltschemrz*. She continues being this decennium's most interesting artist.

Yes at all the acclaim for Love, whew, my favorite song of the year. Imagine if it had been a top 20 or top 10 hit. It really was her best chance at a hit in years and her team squandered it. Even had a beautiful, awe inspiring video already filmed. I truly believe this song could've been a hit and it deserves a nom for record of the year, but ofc I'm way too optimistic, lol.

They were putting posters in LA, they made an snapchat filter for the song. I think it wasn't supposed to come out until late March/early April? But the promotion plan would've been good (or at least better than her previous promotion plans) and maybe the song would've reached a higher spot on the charts if it wasn't for the leak.
