Guidelines

Forum Terms & Rules

Please take a moment to thoroughly review the rules detailed below before joining and posting to our forums. We expect all members to read and abide by these rules. These rules apply to all areas of our website, including Threads, Status Updates, Private Messages, and Blogs. Our rules are set in place for the safety and well-being of our community. We strive to foster a welcoming and enjoyable experience for all of our members.

Any violation of the following rules or displaying the intent to do so may result in punishment consequences to your account such as Warning Points, Moderator Queues, or a permanent ban in severe cases. Certain violations will result in different consequences depending on the severity of the infraction. Infractions will be handled accordingly as our staff sees fit to protect our community. Our staff reserves the right to assign any type of punishment for any infraction, even for actions that may not be explicitly stated in our rules.

If you find that another member’s post violates these rules or otherwise have a concern, please utilise our Report feature by clicking “Report post” in the upper right-hand corner of a post on desktop, or by pressing the flag icon in the upper right-hand corner of a post on mobile. You may then describe your issue with the post, and it will be sent to our staff to attend to. Keep in mind that our moderators can only attend to what they see, and this is the best way to ensure that any issues will be handled quickly and accordingly.

Please remember that we are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of this forum nor its staff.

Should you ever wish to revisit these rules, they are linked within our Navigation Tab under Browse —> Guidelines.

General Rules

  • Posts that are purposefully inflammatory, rude, insulting, or hateful (hate speech) are not permitted. This includes using inflammatory gifs or images in your posts to insult others.
  • Personal attacks or wishing harm on any person, including both other members and other persons such as public figures, as well as groups of people, will not be tolerated.
  • Flame-baiting or purposely posting controversial content with the intention of upsetting others will not be tolerated.
  • Trolling or purposely posting false information with the intention of deceiving others is not acceptable.
  • While we welcome opinions from all different viewpoints, please voice them in a respectful manner. Keep critiques constructive, and discussions of varying opinions with other members appropriate. Posts that are found to be “crossing a line” will result in consequences.
  • Please do not harass or badger fellow members. Maliciously and continuously doing so will result in consequences.
  • Please refrain from overly vulgar posts, as we do welcome members of all ages. Keep discussion at a PG-13 level. Continued use of vulgar behaviour will result in consequences.
  • Please do not attempt to post private/personal information, such as phone numbers, addresses, etc, of any other person without their consent, including members of our forum and public figures. This will result in a permanent ban of your account.
  • Posting or sending illegal download links to copyrighted commercial content meant for purchase or streaming whether a pre-release leak or a post-release rip, or posting with the intent to do so, is strictly forbidden. For links to audio files, this also applies to content that was released on digital or physical media exclusives, such as CD & vinyl, region-specific exclusives, and streaming exclusives. For links to video files, this also applies to content that was released exclusively for digital or physical purchase or aired through a copyrighted livestream or broadcast. This will result in a permanent ban of your account.
  • Additionally, requesting links to such content mentioned above or alluding to where others may find them even without explicitly stating where is also not allowed.
  • Moderators may post public general warnings with no individual member repercussions to terminate behaviour that is in violation of our rules, detrimental to useful discussion, or off-topic at their digression. Consider these written warnings to be a final ruling, and further volatile behaviour beyond these warnings may result in consequences to members who continue to engage.
  • Arguing with the above policies is not allowed. If you have any questions regarding these rules, please reach out to a staff member.

Posts & Threads

  • Please only make posts that are on topic to the respective thread. Posts that are found to be off-topic may be moved by staff to a more appropriate thread. If you notice that discussion in a thread is veering off-topic, please feel free to continue that conversation in a more appropriate thread or through our private messaging system. Repeated use of off-topic or spam posts will result in consequences. We kindly ask that members keep their posts thoughtful and useful to foster meaningful discussion.
  • Please be mindful with any gifs and images you choose to insert into your posts. We recommend using smaller-sized gifs, generally with a height less than 300px, when accompanying text, and keeping the number of gifs per post to a minimum to not clog up threads. You may resize any images or gifs you include by double-clicking on them while creating your post. We encourage members to always include thoughtful, meaningful, or useful content in posts rather than only including images/gifs in a post. Repeated use of spamming with gifs without meaningful or useful discussion will result in consequences.
  • Red text is for staff use only. This is reserved for the purpose of making important announcements to our members. Those who use red text in their posts may have the colour edited by a staff member. Those who use red text to make false announcements will face consequences.
  • Non-English posts are welcome, but please try to translate your post to foster broader discussion.
  • Bumping threads with meaningless posts is not allowed and will result in consequences. You are welcome to bring back attention to older threads, but only with the intent to continue meaningful discussion.
  • Threads and posts meant to spam the forums will be removed. Refrain from posting any nonsense threads or posts. Doing so will result in consequences.
  • You may notice that certain threads have Recommended Posts linked at the top of every page. These posts may include certain warning guidelines or relevant information members should be aware of before posting in the thread. Please read these before posting.
  • Self-promoting or advertising is not allowed in threads that are not your own. You are welcome to create your own threads to promote your work in an appropriate section, though joining the forum with the sole purpose of advertising will not be permitted.
  • We welcome new threads to be created, but please make sure a similar thread does not already exist before creating a new one. We recommend plugging in keywords of your topic idea into our search function to see if a similar thread already exists. You may also ask other members if they are aware of a similar thread that already exists for your topic idea by posting in another thread or to our Status Updates. If a staff member finds that a similar topic already exists in another thread, they will merge the threads together. Please be sure that any new threads you may create are unique, relevant, and useful to garner meaningful discussion.
  • For minor questions that do not warrant their own thread for discussion, we recommend asking them in our Minor General Questions Thread. For minor points of discussion that do not warrant their own thread, we recommend posting in our Random Lana Discussion Thread for Lana-related discussion or our Random Conversation Thread for miscellaneous discussion. We also encourage the use of our Blogs feature for content that may not warrant its own thread for discussion.
  • When creating a new thread, please make sure its Title and Original Post are useful, complete, and accurate. We advise against simply posting an OP that only contains images/videos/links to off-site resources without accompanying text, or only contains “Title. Discuss!” We instead encourage members to type an accompanying body of useful, originally-written text alongside any images, videos, or links you wish to include to properly inform members of the purpose of your topic.
  • If you are the creator of a new thread, we advise you to keep your Original Post up to date for the benefit of our members, especially in our Lana Del Rey forum in sections such as Latest News, Shows, Gallery, Lyrics, and Poetry.
  • For threads created in our Latest News section within our Lana Del Rey forum, we require that a reliable source, such as a verified news outlet (rather than an unverified social media fanpage), is listed in accompaniment to an originally-written body of text and any relevant images/videos you wish to include. New threads created in this section will be automatically held for moderator approval so the sources can be verified. If you are unsure of the validity of your topic, please post your thread in our Rumours section. If a proper source cannot be verified in a thread made in the Latest News section, the thread may be moved by our staff to the Rumours section until it can be confirmed.
  • Other sections of our forum may also automatically hold new threads for moderator approval to verify their accuracy, such as in our Shows, Gallery, Lyrics, Poetry, and Media sections.
  • If you have any questions or concerns about a thread or post you wish to create, please reach out to a staff member first.

Private Messaging.

  • Private messages are considered confidential, and any private messages posted publicly without all parties’ consent will result in consequences, such as Warning Points and/or having your messaging privileges permanently disabled.
  • Please do not harass members through our private messaging system.
  • Trading copyrighted files through private messages is not allowed and will result in members having their messaging privileges permanently disabled.
  • Sending illegal download links to copyrighted commercial content intended for purchase or streaming whether a pre-release leak or a post-release rip through private messages is strictly forbidden and will result in a permanent ban of your account.

Images, Avatars, & Signatures

  • Posting images of yourself in any form is done entirely at your own risk.
  • Furthermore, members may not post pictures of others without their consent. Any issues you incur should be reported and will be handled accordingly.
  • Nudity and otherwise graphic content is forbidden due to Google Adsense policies. Please keep all images and gifs at a PG level.
  • Avatars meant to impersonate moderators or administrators will not be tolerated.
  • Please do not include red text in your signatures, as red text is reserved for staff use only.
  • Please keep the amount and size of any gifs used in your signature to a minimum. We recommend no more than 3 gifs in a signature and to not include any gifs with a height above 300px. You may resize any images or gifs you include by double-clicking on them while creating your signature.
  • Images and gifs included on profiles and in posts that are found to not meet our guidelines or are otherwise bothersome may be removed by staff and result in consequences to your account.

Accounts

  • Only one account is allowed per person. Those who are found to have multiple accounts will have these accounts either merged together or banned depending on the situation.
  • Operating multiple active accounts acting as different people is not allowed.
  • Account sharing, or having multiple people use an individual account, is not permitted.
  • If you have had an account banned, a new one is not permitted to be created. You are permanently banned from the website.
  • If you have trouble accessing an existing account, please do not create a new one. Instead, please contact a staff member. You may do so by emailing admin@lanaboards.com or by reaching out through one of our social media channels linked at the bottom of each page.
  • Usernames and profile pictures used with the intention to imitate staff will not be tolerated.
  • Usernames are able to be changed by members every 100 days. If you would like to change your username sooner, please reach out to a staff member, but please do not abuse this feature.
  • Note: our website may automatically flag accounts that seem suspicious. This can sometimes be triggered by VPN usage, so we recommend disabling your VPN while browsing LanaBoards or proceeding with caution while they are in use.

Warning Points

  • Warning Points are markers placed on accounts when a member violates a rule or otherwise displays behaviour that we do not tolerate. The purpose of Warning Points are for staff members to keep track of repeat infractions and to warn members against repeating actions that violate our rules. If we find a member repeatedly violates the same rule, or has frequently violated several rules, we will further discuss the future standing of their account, which may ultimately result in a ban.
  • All Warning Points are permanent. Members may receive multiple Warning Points for a single infraction based on its severity. There is no set number of Warning Points a member collects before their account is banned. We handle bans on a case-by-case basis.
  • Continued use of violating behaviour following the issue of a Warning Point may result in further consequences to your account, such as a Moderator Queue or a ban in severe cases.
  • If you feel that you have wrongfully received a Warning Point, you may reach out to a staff member. Please keep discussions mature and appropriate. Abuse and harassment of our staff following a Warning Point will not be tolerated.

Moderator Queues

  • Temporary Moderator Queues may be applied alongside a Warning Point by staff where they deem appropriate. If you are placed on a Moderator Queue, this means a staff member will have to manually approve your posts before they are able to be seen by others until the queue expires.
  • The length of a Moderator Queue is determined by a staff member on a case-by-case basis. Some members may receive an indefinite moderator queue, meaning the length of time is undetermined, and will be lifted by staff when they see fit. The purpose of these indefinite moderator queues is to encourage a change in behaviour following a violation of our rules. They are not intended to be permanent. Once this change has been observed, the queue will be lifted.
  • Our staff will approve or deny posts that are made by members on a Moderator Queue as they see fit. Moderators reserve the right to deny any post submitted by a member on a Moderator Queue that does not align with an improvement of behaviour. Continuing to violate rules while on a Moderator Queue may result in further punishment to your account.
  • Posts made while on Moderator Queue that are intended to harass staff will not be tolerated and could result in further punishment to your account.
  • Some new members may find themselves on an automatic moderator queue upon joining. This is done as a precaution to protect our community and will be lifted accordingly.
  • If you feel that you have wrongfully received a Moderator Queue, you may reach out to a staff member. Please keep discussions mature and appropriate. Abuse and harassment of our staff following a Moderator Queue will not be tolerated.

Bans

  • All ban decisions are permanent. Once your account has been banned, a new one is not permitted to be created.
  • Bans are decided through a unanimous vote by our entire staff, except for in extreme cases whereas noted, such as posting illegal links to copyrighted material, where bans are immediate.
  • We reserve the right to ban anyone who willfully violates the forum rules and remove offensive posts without notice. LanaBoards shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards.
  • If members wish to take a break from the forum, we recommend asking for our Voluntary Leave feature to temporarily disable your account rather than requesting that your account be banned as bans are permanent and cannot be lifted, and a new account cannot be created if you wish to return. Our Voluntary Leave feature acts as a ban preventing a member from browsing and posting to the forums but can be lifted at any time per a member’s request. For more information, please reach out to a staff member.
  • If you feel your account has been wrongfully banned, you may reach out to a staff member by emailing admin@lanaboards.com or messaging one of our social media channels linked at the bottom of every page. Please keep discussions mature and appropriate. Abuse and harassment of our staff following a ban will not be tolerated.

Staff Disputes

  • Any disputes with the staff of LanaBoards will be handled privately through the private message system or through the contact email. If you wish to discuss any issue, please private message an administrator or email admin@lanaboards.com. You may discuss staff decisions only in an appropriate manner.
  • Members may privately message a staff member if they have an issue with policies.

Addendum

  • LanaBoards reserves the right to update and modify these rules as we see fit to ensure the smooth operation of this community.
  • Alongside having the right to issue any type of punishment for any behaviour that violates our rules even if not explicitly stated, moderators also have the right to edit any part of a member's Thread, Post, Status Update, Profile, or Signature for the benefit and protection of our the community, such as removing content that violates our rules. Moderators will leave a public note if a member's content has been edited.
  • If you have any questions or concerns about our rules, please reach out to a staff member through our private messaging system, email admin@lanaboards.com, or send a message to one of our social media channels linked at the bottom of each page.
  • Should you experience any technical errors while browsing LanaBoards or have any general questions about our website, please reach out to a staff member or seek advice from other members by posting in our Help & Support section.
