  1. I love all the references in Live or Die:

"Baby, you’re my Bugsy Malone and I’m your suicide blonde" - a gangster movie

"You can be my Tony Montana and I can be your Pfeiffer" - from Scarface20f9a4913ba413a6a701b50f4177c162-29205.j

"Are we gonna be Bonnie and Clyde?"

"Baby, you’re Sylvester Stallone and I can be your Adrian" - from the "Rocky" films, the two are a couple.

"You can be my Tommy Mottola and I can be Mariah " - the two were married in the 90s and Tommy is a very succesful music executive who "made" Mariah Careyarticle-2257968-16C742B5000005DC-572_634

Darling, all those references are on the list already but thank you

Lana's song name 'Gods and Monsters' was named after a band that musician Jeff Buckley used to be in.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Buckley (Skip to tributes section where Lana is mentioned).

Thank you I'm gonna add it later!

  2. there's only one thing i'd love to tell lana - THANK YOU
thank you for influencing me so much, for showing me other amazing artists, for being a big part of my life since i was 13. for understanding me (you were my first best friend and there were times you were the only one, you probably still are...). thank you for making me smile and dream in hard times. thank you for being my idol because life is always easier when you have one.
i hope you are a happy person.

  3. ??? what happened to lorde? honestly... her music used to be so dark and unique, interesting and amazing and this new song sounds like anything on the radio nowadays idk i hope it's just one song but i feel like it's not and that makes me sad

  4. I distinctively remember reading at least ten pages on this subject on here, it was soooo interesting, I have no idea where though, most probably in the Lanalysis thread. Stuff about the preacher and all. I ADORE these songs but since I read about this I feel always slightly uncomfortable listening to them

Me too haha I preferred to think it was about some bad boy cheating around the town. Cult leader makes the song kinda creepy and spooky. And happy tune only makes it worse actually

"hot for god" - J was in a Christian band around the time they dated so I associated that line with him.

Didn't know that,  thank you

  5. Is it really only a few? This song came to mind immediately when she talked about that.

That's kind of her M.O. She's commented in interviews how she's done that intentionally in some songs.

Why would it have to be?

Idk I assumed few because I haven't heard about that theory a lot :)

And yeah you're right but I personally think that being in a dangerous cult and singing about it in a happy way just doesn't seem to match. But you're right. That's the way Lana is and that's why we love her so much

I don't know if they're about the same person,  probably not then but naming the song "part 2" makes you think it's kind of a sequel

  6. Lana said once that she knew/been in a relationship with a guru who belived in breaking you down to bulid you back up again and he surronded himself with young girls. Few people think that "Butterflies" (or at least part 2) is about that.
I think that yes, some lyrics may remind of the story Lana told us:

    • "I wanna save you, save you from the world outside" // "They say “I'll save you, save you”, but they never do"
    • "I think you know, I want to believe you but in my heart I know that I'll leave you"
    • "You're hot for God"
    • "My baby has an eye for pretty things, pretty things. He thinks that little girls are butterflies and cuts their wings"
    • "Sicko, psycho, sicko but he's my beau. Puts them on a rollercoaster, lures them in with Coca-Cola!"
    • "Boy, you've been, catchin' butterflies, all the girls believe your lies, don't they?"
    • "I know he know that what he's teachin' is wrong but, honey, this preacher's song has got me too far-gone"

But at the same time I think that the topic is way too complicated, hard and mysterious to sing a bubblegum sounding song about it...

    How do you feel?

  7. i love the lyrics so much, remind me of is this happiness :defeated:
lana said once that she's always singing about "that one person" idk if that person changed since that time but i feel like all her lyrics are about two or three different men of her life that influenced her the most and that's amazing
i wonder what these men feel when they hear her songs...

  8. I actually thought about you while I was listening to it. You and @daytonadeath haha.

How sweet!!!!  When I was writing my rant about how much I love this song I was like: I'm wondering if CrazySister will see it

  9. Me and my vintage music. My troubles with growing up. My dressing up with nowhere to go. And now Lana telling me it's okay to be crazy and young. She's literally telling me not to worry. I'm crying :defeated: She knows her fanbase too much lol But now I'm sadder that I will never meet her and never become her friend. I feel like me and Lana share some mystic bound. And I bet I'm not the only one. The same retro soul and the saddest girl on earth aesthetics, romanticizing things that shouldn't be romanticized, escaping to the fictional world... Sorry for the rant but this song makes me feel soooo emotional :defeated:

  10. I'm listening for the first time. What a wonderful Sunday Morning... I'm crying, the lyrics are so beautiful, it's like Lana is telling us it's okay to be crazy, young and in love, she's one of us and she's grateful. And so are we... And so are we...

I'm shaking... "Don't worry baby" is enough for me to cry like a mess

  11. can't wait for his new album that's gonna be released on my birthday by the way !

PURE COMEDY is PURE GOLD actually
i think lyrics/video are john lennon-ish and i'm so into that :defeated: :defeated: :defeated:

it's the playlist i made for my story that's called "Innocence lost". it is happening in the early 70s and it's a story about young artists who fall in love, they marry each other, have a son, but he's a junkie, they have problems with finding jobs etc. and in the end they finally gain fame but their love is wasted. they get divorced although they still love each other, they just can't be together anymore :) :) :)

i even made a booklet if anyone's interested:
