Does the beginning of Catch & Release make anyone else think of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds? The first time I heard it I swore it was sampling that song.

1. How did you discover Lana? When and What Era?
January 2012, just before BTD was released. I'd been hearing lots about her on Tumblr.
2. First song(s)?
Born to Die
3. What did you think?
I had just added it to my iTunes and it was a part of a playlist so I forgot who I was listening to. And I thought, "Who is this? This is really f*cking good."
4. Your favourite song(s)?
Lolita, Cola, Backfire, Summer Wine, TV In Black & White, Behind Closed Doors, Heavy Hitter, Queen of Disaster, Hollywood, Hollywood's Dead, You're Gonna Love Me, For K Pt. 2, Yayo (AKA), and more, I'm sure.
5. Least favourite song(s)?
Daddy Issues, I Was In A Bad Way, Back to tha Basics.
6. What song(s) "grew" on you?
Live or Die, Hit & Run, Playing Dangerous, Methamphetamines, Coca Cola, Making Out, Moi Je Joue, Put Me In A Movie.
7. Whats your favourite Lana era as of now? (May jailer, Lizzy Grant, Lana Del Rey)
2010-2011, between AKA and BTD. It's a mixed bag, but some of her best is from that time IMO.
8. Favourite Album(s)?
I guess Paradise. Maybe AKA? Tough choice because they're so different.
9. Least favourite(s)?
Sirens, but I still like it.
10. Favourite song preformed live?
Her Lizzy performances, especially Gramma.
11. First song/Album purchased/Downloaded?
Born to Die (song) and some BTD demos and AKA songs shortly after.
12. Favourite song quote/lyric?
"What did God give me a brain for if he won't let me use it? What did God give me a plan for if he won't let me do it?"
"This is Heaven, what I truly want, is innocence lost."
"I am my only God."(There's many, I'm sure, but these are the ones that come immediately to mind. I like the spiritual themes.)

Oh my fucking god, the Universe is really looking to make sure I have an awesome week leading into my birthday, and following it because June has not disappointed me yet, and neither has Lana.
Fuck yes.
My birthday was on that day in July last year when 8 songs leaked in a day. Truly my best present.

OH but she also said in her recent interview that she hopes the 'Shades of Cool' video will be out by the time the album is out. So there's that too!
-
This is the last release before the album and we've already heard the snippets, so I think it's a good decision.

West Coast>Ultraviolence>Shades of Cool
SoC is arguably the best production, but I just don't dig the vibe of it like I do the other two.

When I heard the live version, I expected it to be the standout song of the album. I was disappointed that the vocals are so airy in the chorus, but it grew on me by the end of one listen. I especially love the bridge ("We could go back to New York..."), the "I can hear sirens" line, and the reverb guitar around the 'sirens' part.

I Was In a Bad Way, Daddy Issues, and Back to the Basics are the only ones I can think of that have not grown on me.
Plus the pre-Sirens EPs, which to be fair I haven't given much of a change.

You're Gonna Love Me is vulnerable, haunting, and heartbreaking lyrically and melodically. Does it resonate with anyone else? I never see it mentioned!
Glad to see lots of love for Backfire on this forum.
Also...
My Momma
Out with a Bang
Fordham Road
Paradise
Hollywood
Strange Love

Even though the moods of the songs are so different, there is melodic similarity between the choruses of You & Me and Dangerous Girl. The notes are almost exactly the same.

Vom. Some of these are enough to scare me off from ever getting a tattoo.
Gotta say I'm a fan of this one though.
