  1. Some of the best LFL lyrics yet!

I may be reaching a little hard but the song definitely feels like it fits in with the whole "social awareness" theme. Taken literally the first part reminds me of the whole Flint water scandal and environmental pollution in general. I like the "something in the water" line as Lana's way to somehow justify the inexplicable political and social upheaval in recent years. In some ways it does feel like society is turning "sour" and "bitter." Then with the whole "its in my blood" line is Lana recognising how recent events have changed her (and not necessarily in a positive way). The second part addresses how Lana has struggled with an apathetical outlook on the world's issues and also challenges the rest of society who don't "give a damn."

Inb4 its a mopey love song where she pines over some druggie  :toofunny: .

  2. This contest is a joke. No credibility at all. It's all about politics, and obviously Ukraine was going to play the victim, as usual. Russia didn't withdraw, they were not allowed to enter, which is different.

"The Ukrainian Security Service banned wheelchair bound Samoylova from entering the country for three years over her performance in Crimea in 2015 which Kiev deemed illegal."

The majority of people in Crimea are of Russian origin. They had a referendum and they chose to re-join Russia. They've been part of Ukraine only since 1954. The western media are making a big tragedy out of this, making it look as if people there are unhappy about being part of Russia.

The only ones who are unhappy about this are Ukraine (for losing territory) and NATO for losing a very strategic area where to position their troops and weapons aiming at Russia.

  There is only one reason why Putin invaded Crimea--Sevastopol. Anyone who tries to paint it as a just move by Putin to save oppressed Russians is delusional. Annexing a part of another sovereign state to "save" an ethnic minority is the tactic of despots.

EDIT: Referendums following a forced military takeover are not legitimate.

  3. 2) He has women of different races in management positions and they're paid higher than the men in the same positions

How the hell does this make up for countless sexist actions of trump. "I have black friends so I can't be racist" teas. This is like saying "Hitler can't be racist because there were non-white soldiers in the wehrmacht"--one small thing doesn't counteract innumerable other instances of racism. Just because there happens to be one thing that doesn't paint Trump as a massive sexist doesn't nullify all the other disgusting things he's done. Here is a list (with sources) of some of the sexism exhibited by Trump and it doesn't even include the more recent scandals like pussygate.

    3) I can't trust someone who has a foundation but uses the money that people have DONATED for her daughter's wedding....

So are you just going to ignore the issues with Trump's own foundation?? A foundation that Trump used to buy massive paintings of himself, paid a quarter of a million dollars of legal fees with, has donated virtually nothing to in recent years. Don't come for the Clinton foundation when it is ranked "A" by charity watch.

    4) I hate this Washington Establishment that we've been under control of for the past 20-30 years

Gotta love how a (dubious) billionaire has managed to convince millions that he is somehow not part of the establishment. Pro-tip: you don't become as wealthy as trump without becoming a part of the establishment.

    5) Trump is a business man who knows how to handle money. He's been doing it for years and years.

Trump is a business man who has went bankrupt several times and relies heavily on foreign investment (saudi, russia, china, etc.) to stay afloat. A business man who has run his casino business into the ground and has lost so much money that he likely has not been paying income taxes on his earnings. What's more, other bonafide millionaires like Warren Buffet, Mark Cuban etc. have come out and said what a load of crap Donald's boasts about wealth are. His own damn book on negotiating was written by a ghost writer!

I could on and on about the rest of the drivel you posted but I'm not spending all night on this. The truth, is even if you knew all of your points were false, you would still have voted for Trump no matter what. These so called "reasons" are probably just a smokescreen for the real reasons you voted trump (reasons that are much uglier). Otherwise you've bought into the ceaseless campaign by certain members of the right wing to discredit Clinton and mislead voters. I still don't understand how anyone with a brain can listen to Trump incoherently ramble in speeches/debates and think "this is someone who I could vote for." The fact that Trump got this far is an embarrassment.

  4. The issue with freak is that it starts out so well with the first verse being stomachable but afterwards regresses into a bunch of lyrical tropes and awkward lines. Hands down "stranger than a stranger" is the worst Lana line ever. I feel like a few songs on honemoon suffer underwhelming second verses: salvatore, Art Deco, freak etc.

    @@PARADIXO

Couldn't disagree more with a few lyrics you put on the worst list! "Catch me if you can working on my tan" line and the accompanying bridge/breakdown has to be one of the most perfect moments on the whole album. I also don't see any issues with the MTWBT lyrics??

To a lesser extent I don't get the inclusion of the "give me your heat...' line. Yes while hardly anything special in terms of lyrics, when you put into the context of the song, however, it has to be another one of honeymoons strongest moments.

  5. So, it's my idea or the negative people came together and its filling the thread, while the others arent even online cause they are enjoying what they got?

    This happens everytime....

You get the people who like it that do all the talking at first and then soon after there's a 180 shift and all the people who dislike the album/song come out the woodworks while everyone who likes it in the first place dissapears.

  6. People can have an opinion.  I think discussion about it is better than a bunch of pages of people saying how great it is.

Some of the best music songs/albums are the ones you don't really feel at first and you spend some time with them.  It takes time.

I don't know if you were referring to my post but I don't have anything against people criticising the song. I just thought it was funny how such a similar pattern happened for HBTB, west coast etc.

  7. Mess! Everyone of these song reveals is the same

    1. Everyone praises it to death for the first couple of pages

    2. Someone criticises the lyrics/production

    3. BTD stans get upset that it doesn't sound like a rehash of BTD

    4. People begin to turn on the song

    5. It starts to seem that everyone hates the song

    A couple of months pass...

    6. Everyone loves the song again

The exact same thing happened with all the Ultraviolence singles/promo singles.

  8. I saw this on Tumblr and Reddit and I think this song might be legit guys!!!! REALY EXCITED SLAY!!!!

    [verse 1]

You have all the girls you want

    But we are matrimonial

    Who is your truest antiquity

When all your girls are so pretty

Plump red lips, got my cherry balm on

Baby I can mow the lawn for money if you want

Goodbye for tonight, don’t let me fall

In your love, in your love

    [Chorus]

Is all the ash the burnt roses leave?

He gives me his sweet relief.

From time present to time past

Cruising down the coast to hell this fast

Take me to your Burnt Norton

    [verse 2]

He’s at the bank with watching the van pass

And my sultry soul in summer midnight crass

    Tomorrow for this generation sings

For the land of our posterity to be free

Plump red lips, got my cherry balm on

Baby I can mow the lawn for money if you want

Goodbye for tonight, don’t let me fall

In your love, in your love

    [chorus]

Is all the ash the burnt roses leave?

Baby give me your sweet relief.

From time present to time past

Cruising down the coast to hell this fast

Take me to your Burnt Norton

When he left all he said

    Lana Rey, are you afraid?

I said, no Bill, I live to see

Our Garlic and Sapphires in the sea

Cause words move and music moves

And I breath in God's wind in my lungs

Which flesh the mistress can't endure

    [chorus]

Is all the ash the burnt roses leave?

Baby give me your sweet relief.

From time present to time past

Cruising down the coast to hell this fast

Take me to your Burnt Norton

Fake. At least hopefully. It's a clichéd mess. Seems like the "writer" has taken the most overdone lana associations: "sultry soul," "midnight," "cruising down the coast," "red lips," "cherry balm" etc. and vomited them up into a poor imitation of lana. Don't even get me started on the random mow the lawn for money line.

  9. A simple look will show you that by far and away lana is currently one of interscopes most successful females with only gaga perhaps challenging her. Losing lana would be a massive blow to them and something they would try their hardest to prevent. Even if she just churned out a bunch of unpromoted and uncommercial albums, they would still outsell the vast majority of Interscope artists.

Is everyone forgetting that billboard cover she did not so long ago? The one where she was chosen, with Kanye, to showcase some of universal's best talent. I doubt she would have landed that gig or even agreed to go on it if she wasn't comitted to her label. Naturally a label is going to push lana to promote as it makes business sense. What doesn't make business sense is losing one of your label's best sellers.

  10. said: "I think [Lana] went back and is working with her old producer".

Notice the word "think." Hopefully that means he doesn't know for sure. After all why would he know exactly who was producing it if he has no involvement himself. Even if Lana told him, she probably told him near the start of honeymoon and we know from Utraviolence how much a Lana album can change from the start to the end.

Also I don't like how the article makes it out as though there is animosity between the two.

  11. Chill. I love Lana. I criticize her because I want her to be a better artist and I think that she's capable of that (UV album). And the guys like you are here with the unfettered adulation so there is allways need for an equlibrium

Sorry if I came on a bit strong: I was just trying to make a point. I do agree that blindly praising lana leads to no meaningful discussion, but, equally, tearing her down at every moment leads to no meaningful discussion either. Perhaps my judgement was unfair considering your low post count.

  12. One of the worst songs that I heard from her it's a mess (Big Eyes is better than this). For the first time I don't feel her vocals on a song recorded in studio

Do you contribute anything to this forum other than complaints? Don't get me wrong there is always need for constructive criticism and opposing views but it gets tiring when you see the same person moan and moan.

    "Lyrics are sh*t!!!"

    "Live performances are sh*t!!!"

    "She's not a REAL musician!!!"
