    It's been a while since the last time i posted here. So as posted above Cold Coffee is out you can purchase it in iTunes, Amazon, Tidal, 7digital (UK), Google Play.

     

     

    April 8th was National Barrie-James O'neill day and hardly anyone noticed, meaning I'm a bit depressed critics aren't paying attention to Cold Coffee (or perhaps choosing not to notice it). Whatever. The album totally slays me. The last track "thunder" is one of the most powerful things I've ever heard in a breakup album. The first movement is very confessional and the second movement is very "I'm moving on". 

     

     

    I only found one review and was dissapointed by it. But Barrie's manager is doing a great job and i think soon enough it will be noticed. 

     

    So here's a few updates:

    -Barrie is on Vevo

    -He did a couple of shows, you can see photos/videos here. There is a gig coming this Saturday (16th) in Glasgow. If you are using Bandsintown track him here.

    -He did a session with Tenement TV. Photos. Video soon

    -He did an interview for a Russian magazine. You can read it here.

     

    Also i wanted to say that it wasn't only Riverside that got leaked. His whole album was leaked. I listened to it before it was taken down. Loved Magic me and Art of Resurrection. but the album wasn't finished, in Angel Tears for example you can hear voices at the end talking about the recording. One thing i notice is a change of lyrics in Angel Tears

    P.S. i think moving back to Glasgow was the best decicion he made. Everything seem to flow in his favor  :)

    For the record, she sang Solitaire too. The rest of the set list was the same as the previous shows. Her family was there. Her dad and sister put up flags of Greece, Wales and UK and a sign that said 'Welcome home'. She said she was very excited to finally be here and she dedicated the show to her grandmother Lambrini, who passed away. She said that it was the best crowd she ever had and that she didn't expect that. (You can watch videos in the link i gave, i added subtitles because she was talking in Greek). She thanked us many times for being there she was so sweet. After the show some of us waited for her. It took her 2 and a half hours but she finaly came out. She took photos with many of us and when she ran out of time she asked for things to sign. I think everyone got something. We were about 30-40 people. The securities were blocking us, when she was in front of me i lost my chanse because everyone was pushing. So me and a guy next to me hadn't talked to her. So we called her and she came back for us she took my phone and took a very shaked photo but nevermind. I was lucky enough to experience that. She was very kind!

    Hey guys!! I met Marina last night after the show! It was fenomenal. She spoke to us in greek and her family was there. It was very special.     Hey guys i am seeing Marina in Athens this Saturday, did any of you met her during the tour? how long did you waited for her (before/after the gig). Also this is her first concert in greece so i guess it will be quite special. I'll try to post photos/videos

    When i first listened to Lana i was going through a hard break up and her music was like a remedy for me. It was the only interesting thing in my life at the time. I searched and read many interviews of her and i saw the video of the one at Coney Island where she says a quote like: If you write everyday your muse knows where to find you something like that. So i started writing! And Since 2012 i wrote many poems and songs and i feel so good with myself because i turned a bad condition into something beautiful :) Also Lana introduced me to Barrie's music with whom i can relate very much since i myself have gone through a very dark period in my life. And both of them are my biggest influences (+ Jeff Buckley who i also learned because of Lana).

    Created this post to talk about beat generation books, writers and etc.

    Actually i'm reading On The Road and i'm loving it. I have plans on reading Owl from Allen Ginsberg and other Kerouac books. After reading OTR (it's the first beat book i'm ever reading) I will watch the film.

    What books you guys recomend, why do you like the beat generation? Let's talk about it .

     

    Did someone saw Kill Your Darlings? What you guys think about it? I saw it a few weeks ago and it was because of it I started reading On The Road, I was fascinated with Kerouac and Ginsberg world and I felt the need to read their books. They seemed, I don't know, so real. They kinda made a revolution at that time and I found it amazing.

    I read Howl a few times, i have a book called Howl and other Poems so i read some of them. I have On the Road but haven't read it yet. As for the movies i watched On the road and i really liked it. I am not a big fan o Kristen's acting skills but i liked her in this movie. Also saw Kill your darlings and liked it and Howl starring James Franco. There is an amazing animation of the poem featured in the movie someone posted it, i quoted the post.

    Had I not been scanning LB Entertainment, I would have missed this. Is Acid Bird going to release Cold Coffee, or is he still having release issues?
     
    My feelings are generally really positive. I mean, he did go a different route than the EP, I think, and I'm still digesting that. I liked the idea of the lo-fi ambience in songs (prepared piano as primary synth sound, minimal synth and muddy guitars, reverb), liked his falsetto (night burns, angel tears). Liked that he redid Mary to retrofit the CD style (makes the original single a bit more collectible?). He also seems a bit poppier on songs, though in a melancholic way (angel tears, wherever you go, pictures, could be alt-indie hits?). 
     
    I kind of missed the Art of Horror, which could have headed the album (and the intro for the album would make some sense as the outro for that song). I also missed the Art of Resurrection (only hearable in ScumBag video) that could have ended the album. This might have given the album more cohesion as a "statement-type" album (for me) and showcase more the guitar side of his instrumentality, but my only real agenda in this suggestion is that more Barrie is more Barrie (and I think those 2 songs were on the original track list he released). I don't know if he would have had to retrofit the songs' styles too much given the Chivalry is Alive ... song is included unchanged, but anyway, I hope those two other songs end up later in his formal discography.

     

    I think the plan is to relese it but we don't have any info yet. I really really liked Murder Murder, Night burns, Wherever i go and Angel Tears. And i enjoyed the album's vibe so much. they would definitely be hits. As he said it is a "sad disco". I too wanted Art of Ressurection here (and i relly love Magic me i want the full song. He once played it on periscope and it is magical, but i don't think he will release it :/ ) 

     

    As for the Chivalry featured unchanged it is because it was recorded with the same producer as the rest of the songs of Cold Coffee (Rob Schnapf, Elliot Smith's producer). Mary i think was produced by Barrie and Jonathan Wilson. As for Way over my Head and Art of Horror i have no idea.

    Barrie's album Cold Coffee is streaming for free on his site www.bazsongs.com for another 6h. I think it is fucking amazing. What are your thoughts? (listen with headphones). 

     

    I noticed he changed the lyrics to I see her smiling. It was a part definitely talking about his relationship with lana where it said "And further long the way i see us in headlines, waisted away me and then you". Now he sings "I fell further down the drain I’m leaving in midnight I’m wasted away living without you"

    Maybe they had a breakup conversation where she thought it was clear that she'd ended it and he didn't realize that's what had happened...

     

    He said he went to see her in London but she couldn't stay for long and he was chilling at the hotel when he found out. So they were together, she left for the USA and then the interview came out.

     

    Barrie's account is not inconsistent with some comments she has made about their breakup in interviews:

     

     

    It sounds like she may have stopped seeing him, but never officially told him it was over.

     

    In other words, the fadeaway or ghosting.

     

    She said she hadn't seen him for months. They were spotted together in LA early in April and then Rob posted photos of Barrie backstage in Lana's show in Texas (April 23rd). After that Barrie left for Glasgow for his brother's wedding where he stayed there for a month. In June Barrie was in London with Lana as he stated in this interview. Here's a photo of Barrie and Blake posted in June 19th:

    A few days later the interview was released. Barrie traveled back to LA and run into TMZ stating it's all lies but a few days after that the photos of Lana and Francesco in Italy were published. So in the one month Barrie was absent Francesco got between them? Whatever happened, it was definately not several months, just one month Barrie left for his brother's wedding.

    Did they write it together or were other people involved in cowriting?

     

     

    Im assuming it was just between them, seems more intimate. Also I'm guessing Barrie produced it

     

    Barrie wrote the song, Lana wasn't involved in the song writing. Barrie stated it wasn't a duet, but then he featured Lana on it and after that he couldn't release the song. Probably Lana's label was not allowing him to release it.

    Is it possible she doesnt want it to be released and shes using her label to do the dirty work? She seems to be so hard with all her unreleased stuff so maybe she just doesnt like it and since she cant work on it shes blocking the release. She's pretty much independent now.

    Probably that's what happened. What i don't understand is since Barrie wrote the song, why can't he release it without Lana?

    Just on the basis of what you said, I'm taking "no label interest" to mean "dissatisfied with the current deal and holding out for a better one".  At least, I'm skeptical of another interpretation, given the lack of details, and given the fact of an EP release. As far as Riverside goes, it was never required for the LP, though he did release the lyrics for it a while back and they seemed pretty unlikely to piss anybody off. Now some have heard the song (same lyrics?), though not me, because Periscope is an intentionally temporary promotion service (and that aspect of it sucks, imo), but I do wonder what people, who have heard the song, think of it.

     

    The song was very beautiful. His voice was so soft and the melody so sweet. It's a pity. I asked him why he won't go indie and release his album by himself on itunes and said that record companies give you money to promote your stuff and a bigger audience will hear you ao he is waiting for a record deal. Also about the money i asked if he considered swlling some merch and he said yes he did for a while but then periscope was stuck so i didn't hear the full answer. Barrie is currently in Scotland. He cancelled a show he had for the 25th and left in a rush to go home. He must be in a sad mood. I hope he will be back soon

    Unfortunately no record label has shown any interest in Cold Coffee. Barrie is really sad about this. He is really proud of this album. Today he said on Periscope that he quits music. He said he has no inspiration lately but he will not stop writing songs. He will stop playing live. I really hope this is not a final decision. Also he said that he has a lot of songs and short movies and weird videos that are unreleased. And he played Riverside live on his guitar. He said that he wrote it 2,5 years ago and the original version was without Lana. Then he recorded it with Lana and now he can't release the song. He said he don't think it will ever be released and it is not his fault..
