Kïngswööl with metal umlauts would be a great band name.

I'm only about 3 years ahead of you on that. He wouldn't tell me anything.

Yeah, or I'm suggesting it's possible the back cover art was used on the physical copies with some other front cover and the front cover art was made afterwards for the digital release.

Based on her yearbook photo, she was at Kent at least three years. Supposedly she studied philosophy when she attended Fordham, possibly with an emphasis on metaphysics.

Isn't this thread missing a section on how "Gods & Monsters" is obviously about me?

In the land of gods and monsters I was an angel, living in the garden of Evil...
In the land of gods and monsters I was an angel, looking to get fucked hard...

In working on the Early Shows subsection, I made an Imgur album of all the screenshots of Lizzy's MySpace page using screenshots.com on lizzygrant.com, lizziegrant.com, lizzigrant.com, and mayjailer.com arranged in chronological order minus any of Rob Grant's domain parking at the beginning or anything after the end of 2011:

I thought other Lana sleuths might find it useful.

Damn, was she trying to shave another year off her age?

I think it's comments like this that fuel our more sordid speculations about her life and make many of us think her lyrics are more autobiographical than we might otherwise.

Arthur Lynn was the lead singer for Angiescreams, which at least partially shared (if not completely) the same lineup as the Phenomena/Rich Whores minus Lizzy. These two posts from a blog of his are very telling to me.

I too was somewhat uncomfortable posting about this because it reveals his last name. That's why I wrote this:

Unfortunately, Lana herself put his last name out there in that interview, and it was inevitable someone else would've made this connection if I hadn't. But let's not use his first name. And "Humbert", while hilarious, is a bit too insinuating. Let's stick with "Mr. Campbell" or even just "her teacher".

I didn't explicitly point these two things out in my post because I thought they were self-evident tbh.

I'm sure this probably still happens a lot, especially with teachers overseeing extracurricular activities, but I don't think this is generally considered an appropriate situation for a teachers to put themselves in.

NOTE: Please respect the privacy of people mentioned in this post who are not public figures.

    Here's something "juicy"...

Some time ago I was reading this interview and wondered if the teacher she mentions was a teacher at her boarding school.

If you do a little digging, using archive.org you can find that there was a Mr. Campbell that was an English teacher at her boarding school when she attended there, though he doesn't teach there now, and that they follow/friend each other on various social media platforms.

I subsequently discovered "Prom Song (Gone Wrong)" which is a love song in a high school setting, which notably has the following lyrics: "You played me Biggie Smalls and then my first Nirvana song."

More recently, in preparing for the covers-themed LanaDelReydio show I'm working on, I was looking up interviews where she mentions Nirvana, Kurt Cobain, or "Heart-shaped Box" and noticed this in one of the interviews I found:

I nearly did a spit take. But then I found something really weird. In another interview published just a couple days later, she changes the story:

Suddenly, Mr. Campbell turns into a she. WTF is that about? Is she trying to hide something?

Now I'm not necessarily saying I think she fucked her teacher. But I think she at least fantasized about it. (Perhaps the fact that it's her teacher is what "Gone Wrong" refers to.) And I think "Lolita" is about him too. Consider that in Nabokov's novel, Humbert Humbert is a middle-aged literature professor.

All of which just makes this serendipitous:

I've mentioned this on Twitter and SIN, but I thought I should post this information here. Before the "List of unreleased Lana Del Rey songs" Wikipedia page was recently deleted, it mentioned a 7-track audio recording called either "Rock Me Stable" or "Young Like Me" registered with the US Copyright Office by Elizabeth Woolridge Grant in 2005, which I believe would pre-date "Sirens". The Wikipedia page had also mentioned an unreleased song called "From the End", also registered with the US Copyright Office by Elizabeth Woolridge Grant in 2005. However, the notes in this listing say "Words & music (collection)", so this may also be another album and not just an individual song. Before we get too carried away, it is possible that these songs may all be on "Sirens", or there may be significant overlap, but the possibility of two more early albums is exciting nonetheless.

To view the copyright listings, click here. Type "Grant, Elizabeth Woolridge" in the "Search for" field and search by name.

I've already made inquiries with the Library of Congress and the US Copyright office as to whether there is any possible way to listen to these recordings. I'm not optimistic, but I should get an answer within a few business days.

Also, note that the 2005 listings show her birth year as 1985, not 1986, which indicate that she is really 27 years old, not 26.

In one case, everything personal has already been discussed somewhere on this forum now. There are things relating to her career of legitimate interest to fans that couldn't be shared without revealing the person's name and their connection to Lana. But now that that personal stuff is out there, I might as well share the stuff of legitimate interest once I follow up on one last detail. That is, unless we decide the personal things should be removed.

Here's the January 2012 BBC article saying "Her left hand is tattooed with a capital letter 'M' for her grandmother, Madeleine [sic]".

But in a status update today, @ flagged this 2011 i-D Magazine interview where she said the 'M' stood for "Magic, 'cos I need it [laughs]".

I've always been skeptical of the grandmother explanation from day one. It always struck me as the kind of post hoc explanation someone might concoct for a tattoo they regret or for which they're embarrassed about the real original inspiration. That "Gramma" may be about her other grandmother and she once claimed it stood for "Magic" do nothing to lessen my skepticism that we're getting the real story here.

Like the OP, my pet theory had long been that it stood for Mike Mizrahi. Until I saw this:

This was briefly the avatar for the YouTube account that originally posted "Let My Hair Down". (Receipts here and here. Note: Alex DeLarge is not my real name.) This account apparently belongs to Adam Tagliamonte, a.k.a "Tags", from Lizzy Grant and the Phenomena. This suggests the stylized 'M' symbol may predate her relationship with Mizrahi. Unfortunately, Tags was not that helpful when I asked him some questions, including about the symbol's significance. Supposedly, those recording sessions that leaked back in January came from Tags. If whoever got those from him hasn't burned their bridges with him in the course of them leaking it'd be cool if they could try to ask him about this. Until then the magic 'M' remains a mystery...

It doesn't surprise me considering they've worked with a lot of the same people (Jeff Bhasker, Jonathan Wilson, Björn Yttling, Greg Kurstin, some of her tracks leaked from ricknowels.com )
If I recall correctly, the original title of the original Lana thread (RIP) on SIN compared Lana to Lykke Li, Sky Ferreira, and Paloma Faith.

This also reminds me of this Facebook exchange:

This is the YouTube video referenced in that post:

This reads as disillusionment with her interest in metaphysics. Disillusionment with the futility of it.

Atop every mountain there's a hurdle in the sky
When at last you've found them you will understand as I
    There is no solution
    Life is without resolution
You must ask yourself what you really want in life
You must trust in me when I tell you it's alright
    It's alright tonight
    It's alright tonight

I remember New Year's that your everything seemd right
We had not made plans and we just drove all the whole night
Let's all go find a friend
    Don't stop until the end
You must ask yourself, am I really the one?
You can't be of help if you can't have any fun
I'm your one if you want me to be

    Please leave me be
Who are you to say [a/your?] soul won't live forever
    Yeah, yeah

Atop every mountain there's a hurdle in the sky
When at last you've found them you will understand as I
Each breath is sent from angels
These people they are not strangers
You must ask yourself what you really want in life
You must trust in me when I tell you it's alright
    It's alright tonight
    It's alright tonight

Just to clarify, which Facebook account are we talking about? MafiosiPrincess? And what exactly do you mean by "made public"? Are you referring to some kind of change with the privacy settings on that account, or just that people have publicized the username?

Do we have any indication who made the cut or why?
What exactly is the history/provenance of these tracks?
How do we know they're from 2006?
