  1. La La Land is lovely but I wish it wasn't dominating the awards season. Would love to see Moonlight get a bit more love, and Natalie Portman gave a much more interesting performance than Emma Stone (as much as I love ES).

I swear to god in Jackie there was a scene that featured the descending string line from National Anthem. Possibly coincidental but it was super obvious to a Lana fan. Anyone else pick that up?

  2. The word that always pops into my head when I think of what I'd like from future LDR music is 'muscular'. Like, a little more backbone, a bit more assertive, possibly even angry, sarcastic or ironic. Or even just more playful and wry? I adore all of her albums and unreleased, but we all know she can be a bit more sassy and confrontational when she chooses to be. Following HM with a harder-hitting sound would be such a good move IMO, and give her more material for festivals (at the very least).

I dunno, she should do what she damn well pleases but a boy can dream...

  3. It was speculated that Hollywood, JFK & Starry Eyed were leftover from Paradise and that AFFA was for UV (Since we knew BB was), so they were dubbed 'untouchable' because they were possibly upcoming songs.

Thank you :) It's strange to imagine an alternative timeline where these songs didn't leak and instead formed the basis for her BTD/P follow up. What might have been, and what has been...

  4. I'm just grasping at straws, I know, but a reasonably 'high budget' video with 'special effects' may suggest a surge of confidence from Lana's record label? Also the suggestion of more than one video being prepped. Based on not much more than conjecture, this could signal (possibly) a more commercial, radio-friendly sound?

Honestly, an album that suggests the sound of the 'untouchable 5' is pretty thrilling.

Btw, out of interest, does anyone know why they were dubbed 'untouchable'?

  5.

what do you think the theme will be for the album?

I feel like UV was angry & raw, a bitter response to how she'd been treated by some following BTD/P

Honeymoon (to me) felt like resignation and doing what the fuck she felt like. Putting the anger behind her and disappearing more into her beautiful/tortured 'world'. I kind of feel like God Knows I Tried is the touchstone of the album, even if it's not a stand-out track.

I feel like the new album will be the next step but I have no idea what that could be - a return to a more radio/chart-friendly sound, or further into her own aesthetic?

(I do wonder about the (pretty dubious) references to 'Diana' and 'Monroe' tho - if real, does she see herself in a similar way to these doomed, troubled, prematurely dead figures? That could be a bit...off, if not handled carefully.)

  6. Looks like another successful show - she looked & sounded great as far as I can tell. I'm assuming the setlist was the same/similar to what we've seen so far?

It would be so great at this point for her to throw in something new for the fans - Salvatore would be perfect, and TBD could work with the backing singers. Maybe a tiny snippet of a new song (too optimistic?).

Regardless, it seems these festival gigs are going well for her and she seems happy and confident, which is great!

  7. Sounds kind of like ppl were expecting her to fuck up tho

But isn't that just business as usual with Lana? Except for her fans, I think there's probably a bit of morbid curiosity about her from the general public. I would imagine that for many people, Lana is still the morose girl who apparently fucked up on SNL, as dumb and ancient as that is to us.

If it means they're pleasantly surprised, that's a good thing I think.

  8. I love that movie! I saw it around the time that I discovered Lana, so I associate those two. It's nice to see that actor in pics with her. Perfect for salvatore

That's so cool, his single scene was so beautiful - there's a nice poignancy and depth underneath the initial impression of him being simply a hustler. Something I reckon Lana would appreciate - the beauty & melancholy behind Hollywood vacuity.
