yeah at the end of the day even tho I most likely won’t be listening to the new project I’m not mad or disappointed,  bc he has sooo many songs out there, a lot I’ve still not heard. I’m happy that he’s just doing what he wants :lolliney:

Haha, yeah, there are so many random releases I've never listened to yet. I still need to fully dive into all the Christmas music, too (despite that Justice Delivers Its Death is still one of my top Sufjan songs!) :rip:

  2. I liked Aporia last year, so I'm definitely intrigued by this and will give it a stream, even if I don't return to that album often and an instrumental project like this isn't exactly what I'd like as a fan.

I really loved The Ascension though and still play that all the time, so if this turns out to be something that's not for me it's no bother. I'm just happy he seems to be releasing regularly - there was a great collaboration with CARM recently called Song Of Trouble you all might like:

    Official announcement: https://asthmatickitty.com/announcing-convocations-by-sufjan-stevens/

"Convocations" is an instrumental album by Sufjan with five volumes - "Meditations", "Lamentations", "Revelations", "Celebrations" and "Incantations". 49 tracks in total.

Released digitally May 6, and on 5 x coloured vinyl August 20.

    Pre-order starting April 8: https://store.asthmatickitty.com/collections/vinyl/products/sufjan-stevens-convocation

  4. The project is called "Meditations", and the track "Meditation V" will be available tomorrow. It's a 2:11 long instrumental, and very similar to the "Aporia" album with Lowell released last year.

  5. Some quick initial thoughts...

White Dress is low-key awful and my least favourite of the whole album, so it's a shame it opens the album as I went into it expecting the worst after that. Although I do like the the lyrics and theme, I just don't like her vocal on it at all. The cracks in her high notes feel very forced and it becomes unenjoyable.

Tulsa Jesus Freak definitely seems to be a re-titled or new version of White Hot Forever, as people expected, so imagine this album isn't far away from the original concept. By the end of the album I'd forgotten what it was like, so it'll be a song I need to spend time with.

Dance Till We Die is quite surprising as it goes along, but I wish it built up to the middle-8 a bit more which is the highlight of the track, and that the ending was longer after it. It reminded me of something like Cruel World and could've been like that easily.

Wild At Heart, Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost, Yosemite and For Free (although the live performance might be slightly better) are my highlights aside from Chemtrails and Let Me Love You which I like despite the poor reception. I can see why Yosemite wasn't included on Lust For Life, if this is the same version or similar to it, as it really wouldn't fit - but it fits incredibly well here!

Overall, the album feels like it shares same sonic sphere as Norman Fucking Rockwell, but it's a little more slower paced, loose in its structures and stream of consciousness-y. It's not instant at all and might need time which isn't always a bad thing.

    Out midnight local time.

So happy to hear it in HQ. I think there might be some very slight changes, but that might just be details in the production that weren't so clear in the LQ leak last year.

i'm thinking Kid Krow deluxe

    I wouldn't be surprised.

There were some rumours last year about a Kid Krow deluxe including Overdrive, Heather (Acoustic) and one new song.

  7. Have you all been following the KRONOLOGI playlist celebrating 10 years of iamamiwhoami/ionnalee?

So far she has shared an early version of "shadowshow", an alternate mix of "u", an unreleased track "down by the lake", and just yesterday she shared a song called "telesvar" which is the phone song, aka "; john b"!

She'll continue sharing more of these until June 10.
