  1. The meltdowns ..it's a fckin tracklist. I love 99.99% of Lana's songs and I never bothered about the titles. Off To The Races the title meh but the song is great
  2. With this tracklist forget the promo, radio, charting etc. I don't give a shit about that. I just wanna hear Fucked My Way Up To The Top asap
  3. For what happened so far I don't think that I'm overreacting. For what will come, maybe, we'll see. I don't think that she'll sell so low that she'll be dropped but she's in the second row at Interscope and she will stay there if UV will not sell well (at least as BTD for the album sales, because with the singles there's no hope). I have greater expectations for her talent than a second row artist at Interscope tbh
  4. Yea, I was wondering about that. Why isn't she interviewed in some relevant US magazine or radio about UV? The main goal (commercially) for her growth as an artist is to establish herself on the US market. But unfortunately I don't see that happening. I remember that earlier this year an American radio (I forgot their name) did a mock interview about her when some dude was pretending to be Lana and basically just mocked her for 10 minutes. Well, it isn't just about Lana is about the US media as well. We can safely assert now that the UV promotion is a mess. WC promotion was (and still is) a major failure, she's in the top 10 of the most spectacular drop out from Billboard Hot Top 100 and I don't see WC rebounding with the video or the radio remixes (I have the fool's hope on that happening). I think that the major cause for this weak promotion is that her relationship with her label is strained: her label basically abandoned her after the initial BTD promo and just stood back to see what's happening, they didn't like the Paradise EP, they forced the commercial success of the SS remix even if, today it's clear, that she had a negative attitude (correct in my view) towards that SS remix (yes, it was commercially a success, gave her more exposure but in the same time confused her perception in the GP by totally perverting the original vibe of the song), Interscope didn't participate in her TROPICO project (the entire project was basically financed and promoted by her). That's why I think that we cannot expect other than random interviews and generally a low key promotion of UV which can have some ugly commercial consequences for her (the only reason why a label will drop an artist).
  5. I accept that critics that try to understand an artist make their point even that's a negative one. But in Lana's case 75% of the articles are premeditated misogynistic shades written by people who put aside their artistic sensibility because they just cannot except that a beautiful and talented girl can succeed in the music business in her own peculiar way. What was shocking for the indie and for the pop elite is the fact that this girl is becoming very popular with songs that shouldn't be that popular, with a stage presence that doesn't share anything with the accustomed stage gimmicks. She's standing out and that's why she's a target for everyone in the music business. Slowly the real artists are starting to acknowledge her talent: Moroder, Auerbach, Calvin H., C. Cobain, Cyrus, S. Twain etc. are saying nice things about her songs...because they are beautiful, gorgeous. These are words that she likes and is derided by many even by some of her fans, But don't forget something cynicism is just the beginning of an intelligent life and by no means the end of it. Lana is not a cynic, she's above that, she believes in beautiful things and in romance that's why I love her and her music. I pray for her to be strong
  6. She's absolutely gorgeous . I could watch her all day A woman beautiful and talented as she is should never be unhappy, but she is...
  7. I hope this is only intended for the German-speaking market where people think that Scorpions was a cool rock band. This version totally butchers the song original vibe with that silly caribbean beat, the chorus is bland compared to the original and lost all his haunting appeal. It's not bad because we are talking about Lana but WC was meant to be a soft rock anthem and I'm sure that in the upcoming video and on the album we'll have the original version. If the song would have came out first in this version it would have been derided by most of the reviewers, I'm sure of that.
  8. I want her to be played on the radio but not like this. I hated the SS remix because the dance beats perverted the whole song, This new version is like a ski resort night dance music from the 60's.
  9. TBH i don't like the swiss version, the pace, the beats are different it's not rock-ish anymore, but really 3 versions of one song?! it's a mess, but god knows...the video looks vintage, she's gorgeous and the daddy is like a mafia boss
  10. It's great that WC gets some recognition somewhere because it's a great song. But unfortunately there are few markets that counts for big number sales: the US (by far), UK, Germany (and maybe France) I sincerely hope that my pessimism is wrong and you'll be right
  11. I sad in one of my earlier posts that WEST COAST is dying slowly. Well, it seems like it's an sudden death because the song is not charting anymore in the US It's unbelievable, I really thought that WC can be her breakthrough hit in the US. This is quite an underachievement even for LDR's standards
  12. The possibility that she has a lot of songs (recycled or not) pending to make the cut for the album it’s not surprising to anyone who knows her. What would be surprising is the situation where they don’t have a track list one month before the (rumored) release. I really want her to be critically appraised (a score over 75 at Metacritic will do it for me). The cohesion of the album is important (not that BTD was incoherent) and I think that the flamboyant title ULTRAVIOLENCE will be tested against the content of the album by many reviewers. I don’t see much ultra-violence in WC, maybe if I stretch the concept I could imagine “ultraviolence” as referring to the realities and consequences of everyday (romantic) relationships which are, for the most of us, the greatest source of distress (violence). If it will not be a direct “A Clockwork Orange” reference or at least something that suggest the message from the film/novel on the album, many reviewers will bitch about the non-representativeness of the title for the album. I hope that she will come out and explain her vision before others start to speculate, generating idiotic interpretations of her songs as many reviewers did regarding BTD.
  13. She's not perceived as an non-commercial artist (like Fiona Apple for example) and she did a lot of things towards being perceived more mainstream (her magazine covers, The Great Gatsby). I have a feeling that she doesn't have the option to be an (more mainstream) indie artist because she's really hated by the taste-makers who didn't take her art seriously and by many so called quality artists also. She sad that she has no friends and I think she's referring to people in the music business who just didn't like her.She craves recognition and it's justified in my opinion but she cannot obtained it without success. It's not a nice thing to say but nonetheless is true that you are liked more when you are successful.
  14. It's not obvious at all. I'm not obsessed with fame but with professionalism yes.
  15. What is the situation of UV right now? 1. WEST COAST is out and had a great surge online that blasted the song to no.17 on HOT100, with mainly favorable reviews. The good: The first week performance underlines the great hit potential of the song in my view. The bad: INTERSCOPE didn't pushed the song to radio, at least to alternative and rock stations, which is ridiculous. The song it’s dying slowly (because it seems that the song it’s liked even by people who otherwise are not that much into Lana). There’s no video and even if the video is coming out soon, if it’s nothing short of spectacular will not revive WC sales in The US without airplay. They delayed the iTunes debut on two major markets (UK and Germany) which will result in subpar sales and charting. Watch Gods and Monsters chart higher than WC in UK . I don’t want to dwell on the changes of the song on iTunes because it was already discussed. Economically, instead of selling 6-8 mil singles WW she will around sell 1-1,5 mil. 2. THE TOUR: it seems a hastily arranged affair, they grabbed from the street another member (who is that new guy?). It’s obvious from the recorded videos that they didn’t put too much effort into it. What I suspect is that this “tour” is controlled by people who are not necessarily from Interscope but some wise guys like Ben Mawson (I hate that guy) . The good: the tour sold out, she’s adored by many fans and she’s more confident about her shows (she had some very sexy moves at Coachella ), WC sounded great live The bad: the reviews are mixed (there are some very nasty reviews mostly written by people who didn't like her persona and music before). What is more problematic for her is that the non-hardcore fans are somewhat disillusioned by her attitude (she’s late, the show is to short, no encore, no opening act, she interact mainly with the front row, poor stage presence, sound problems etc.) and this could affect her perception as an artist in the US (there is a strong perception that she’s not a good live performer). 3. UV promotion: I don’t even want to respond to those who are not taking seriously the promotion part of an album. She’s not a superstar in the US, after the 2012 backlash her only chance for a breakthrough in the US is a great reception commercially and critically for UV. Some random billboards without her name on it will not do it, she has to do interviews on radio, on TV, in magazines mainly to stop people making up things about her. She’s a humble, sweet person and people have to know the way she is. The good: there is nothing good in not doing promotion for your album and hits. The bad: people will use the same old references towards her in the reviews, she will not change the perception of her in the US. Instead of selling 4 mil. albums in the US she will repeat the BTD era selling slowly towards 1 mil. in 2 years. 4. And there are some rumors about songs on UV (CW it's an intro or a song?) and about the overall feel and sound of the album (there will be songs like BJ and DP, I hope not ) I hope that they will do something abot WC and UV because there is little time left. But this is their game, we can only watch
  16. There are two versions of WC on Spotify. Listen to them both and you will see the difference. The chorus sounds markedly different.
  17. They messed up the chorus. The only good thing about it is that the guitars are stronger but her voice is just too emphasized and I miss the haunting voice in the background
  18. What baffles me is that some of the guys here are not believing in WC powah despite that they listened to the song at least 100 times since the release . I still use WC daily because is that good
  19. She never had a WC type of song before and I don't believe in the "her singles never had much success in the US" mantra. A song has hit appeal or not: in my opinion WC has all the characteristics of a hit. Why not push it to radio why sell 300.000 when you could sell 2 mil.?!! They mismanaged BTD and they are doing it again with UV. The wait for the subpar video i hope is not a long beach scene
  20. The label have to push WC to the radio. The SS remix was a slow building hit on the dance scene and Interscope started to push it when was obvious that it will smash. Lana wasn't involved, the whole relationship between her and Gervais it's a clear indication for that
  21. You can listen to it on Spotify and get Lana some streaming points
  22. Interscope never had a strategy about her from the beginning and that says it all about the manufactured artist BS. BTD sold well because it's a damn good album and not because they did some special promo with it. They booked her on SNL and Letterman, the only big promo they did with her, and that was horribly managed. They didn't prepared her for SNL and we all know how it ended. She's reluctant to do promo in the US for obvious reasons but to mismanage a release in this manner is just bad business for everybody involved. To not have from the beginning one version for radio, one for downloading and streaming it's just unprofessional. I have a bad felling about the video and I think that it will have a negligible impact on her sells and the whole thing is shifting in an anticlimax. WC is good for radio and it could have been a major hit in the US but Interscope did everything to kill the damn thing. I just hope that I'm wrong because I really like the song. And don't illusion yourself, she doesn't have the option to stay small. If UV will not be a smash hit she will be ripped apart by her haters from the US media and I don't see how she'll survive a second hate campaign. The haters kept a low profile because WC was so good and sounded different from BTD but wait for their fiendish writings when UV will come out. It's incredible the amount of hatred some online taste-makers have against her and she's not that strong
  23. If any of you were at the concert please respond to this hater : http://www.dallasnews.com/entertainment/music/headlines/20140424-review-lana-del-rey-has-more-pitch-problems-than-the-white-sox-at-dallas-show.ece#
