  1. Dan Auerbach doesn't know how to mix vocals... Bye

Even on his records he sounds like shit but no one cares because he's a male and most people listen to him don't care about the "vocals"

    So he gets a pass

Lana Del Rey is known for her voice (her DEEP voice on VG turned heads and put her on the map). He ruins it completely.

No, Lana's voice is not deep at all. I think it's good that she's singing with her middle and high range more because that's her natural voice. You can tell she's faking/pushing her voice to sound lower but she fails 80% of the time. If not look at Summertime Sadness/Ride she hits the lowest note at least 7 times in each song but live she can't even do it once!

She even had to change the key of the song in the US tour to handle singing that way so many times.

She should embrace her high voice, cause that's where she sounds the most beautiful and natural. If she keeps pushing out low notes/trying to sound deep she will end up destroying her voice.

  2. I guess it depends what sort of melodies you like, i know a couple fans of her BTD album have failed to connect with anything from this new album so far because it doesn't feature big pop hooks like her previous work. I find the materiel catchy enough so its not an issue for me but the songs do lack a bit of radio friendly fair when compared to the likes of songs like Summertime Sadness or National Anthem. In a way, this album may be very unlistenable to the very regular fan of her more accessible songs.

Born to Die is not radio-friendly at all.

  3. Someone said Ultraviolence and other songs we've heard from Ultraviolence sounds just like any of her stuff, and I'm just really confused by how that makes sense-- to me, West Coast and Shades of Cool were exceptionally different sonically and structurally, Lana's Born To Die had so much pop vibes and what we're getting is this beautiful alternative future jazz psychedelic rock sound.

So I'm just like ? ? ? at people who says it sounds just like Born To Die.

None of those songs sound like jazz to me, especially Ultraviolence which has a very basic chord progression/vocals. West Coast is like a mix of Rock/Surf (Paradise/Aka). They're only produced differently but it's very similar to her old music.

  4. In my opinion none of them. Someone completely new will probably come in the future and become the biggest/influential singer/performer. None of this girls really have classics that will be remembered years from now like "Like a Virgin" etc... And I don't think Adele should be on this list, Adele is not a pop star and if she is remembered it will be like Whitney/Nina Simone, nor really "stars" but women with great voices.

The only ones who have been relevant for many years from your list are Beyonce/Shakira, the others are just starting including Rihanna. Beyonce's fan base will never die out and she has one of the best voices in the industry even after singing for so many years she's still at her peak today vocally. And Shakira is already a Latin legend getting stronger and stronger specially with the world cup coming soon, she has the talent to be even greater.

BTW thank you @@Viva for not including Brittany Spears, I'm sick of people calling her Princess of Pop, she's very far from being that.

  5. To be honest, it's clear that the fan didn't mean to "attack" Lana at the show. There were TONS of people grabbing at her in the front row and to be honest, I got a grasp on the back of her head one time (that hoe was hairsprayed to death). I mean, I didn't pull her fucking hair, but I def got ahold if it. It's one thing if it's an accident, but it's another if it wasn't (but it obvs was an accident). Anyone would obviously be upset if it happened to them too. Just imagine if Lana had pinned in/glued on extensions. She has a right to get upset and leave early.

    Case closed tbh.

You just said you weren't even there... Let's let the people who were actually in the show explain what happened please

  6. I don't think they will... They didn't release the Deluxe version of BTD here in South America, so I think they won't release this one either

Anyway, I'm ordering it from Amazon, you should do the same

I only saw deluxe version 90% of the time here in South America. She will probably release it like she did with BTD.

  7. I votedWithout You, your voice is very nice.  :flutter:

Pawn Shop Blues: You need a new teacher to teach you how to sing.

Summertime Sadness: You're really off key, it's just...not sung on key.

Without You: The singing came in, and it wasn't very nice.

I guess we'll be seeing you next season then, to prove this "biches" how it's done ;-)

  8. One redeeming factor about the cover is the cool mirror effect in the car window + she looks a little like she's about to rip the door off in a sudden eruption of anger. Always the quiet ones.

I don't think this cover really means something deep. She probably wanted something simple, like a fond memory of hers or just something she thought looked "pretty".

  9. who cares

its the music not the cover???

i never picked up an album bc of the cover

for all i care, the cover could just be a white square whatever

that being said people probably looked at sonic youth's 'daydream nation' and thought 'wtf its just a candle' on an album cover, doesn't make the music containing within it shit. people shouldnt judge a book album by it's cover :teehee:

tbh i thought lana would do something like that for this era

Anyone will agree with you. We know the music is more important than the cover/song titles/design. But we are discussing how good or bad the cover is. That's what the thread is for. And I think the cover is just "average". a white cover would be epic master trolling.

  10. The singer and song writer of the album puts a picture of herself on the cover and you call it random girl LOL

Lana sould more than 5 millions of albums, has a gigantic fanbase....why are you talking about her like she is a new act that is releasing her first album?

*sigh* I didn't say she was an unknown singer. I think the cover is "fine", obviously all that matters is the content. But if I saw that album on a music store (assuming I've never heard of Lana) I probably would just move on because it doesn't look interesting, its just a pretty girl in black and white.

  11. 1. Rihanna's voice is amazing. Deal with it and accept the fact Island Girl  the smash hits maker has a amazing sexy voice.

    2. Random girl?  :lmao:  Seriously?  :usrs:

    1. If we start arguing about Rihanna people will start crying like little bitches girls so let's just leave it there.

    2. I already explained my point. I just expected something amazing that would capture the eye and make people who don't know her wanna know what the record sounds like, It'll probably grow on me (or not) but honestly I just expected something else.

    It's my opinion.

  12. :awkney2:

Me @ these last few pages

Good song ruined by Rihanna's dry voice. Is there a version where the song-writter sings it?

As long as Lana is in the picture of the album cover it's ok for me :yesnod:

Actually I think it would be better without her face, she could put some nice art related to the album theme. It's more interesting and captures the eye instead of a picture of a random girl getting out of her car.
