  1. Hey, i don't know if you've already talked about this around the time Ultraviolence came out. I didn't know about this website yet. I've been listening to The Doors last couple of weeks (knew them by name but never listened), absolutely love them, and been learning a lot about who Jim Morrison was. So, as i was learning about him, Lana kept coming to my mind. I know he is one of her biggest influences, but i'm starting to think he is THE influence. I know and listen to Lana since 2012, and i know she writes a little autobiographically and a little fiction. And i've always, ALWAYS wonder who tf was the one she sings about. When Ultraviolence, the song, came out, i was all like MAN WHO THE FUCK IS JIM. Just drop a surname or whatever. And i know there is a theory about this song being about booze and addiction. But i really think she is fantasizing with Morrison. Or maybe being in Pam's skin and talking about their story. Or maybe about both- Jim and alcohol. Jim was an alcoholic too. But then Freak. I think she chose Father John Misty because he looks just like Jim. So FJM plays Jim in Freak's video. And i think Jim is there aaaall the time, present in her work. I don't know where else he could be. Maybe Heroin. And maybe a lot of the times she sings about love, he is there, even a little. So, since i discovered all of this i feel like i closed something. This all made sense to me. I mean, maybe she doesn't sing about him anymore, but at some point -and maybe in her darkest times- i think he was really a big impossible love of hers, a comfort, and her platonic. And maybe she searched for him in real life too, while dreaming about him in her work. Idk just a theory.

yes 100% agree. I know people think Jim/Joe is Joe Schilling but I thought she was singing abt Jim Morrison on HTD too. because I thought she meant how they guys disappear as in "Die". but I doubt that's what the songs about tho. I could have been wrong

  2. Nothing ground-breaking, but I came to a solid conclusion that "Radio" is 100% about Barrie and here's how I summed it up:

    1. In the Fader interview, it is stated that Lana and Barrie began dating right after the release of "Video Games"

    https://www.thefader.com/2014/06/04/cover-story-lana-del-rey-is-anyone-she-wants-to-be

    2. In this interview, she said this about the song:

    https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=3224525245356

    3. And the final piece - a barely noticed interview where she says she wrote the song right after "Video Games" started getting airplay.

    https://www.thesun.co.uk/archives/bizarre/333178/when-i-write-songs-i-stand-under-the-telephone-wires-and-take-in-their-energy/

I always thought radio was about Reeve Carney

  3. the "open your purse" comments really get on my nerves... she's under no obligation to prove to anybody that she donated money, and i'm assuming she already has. if she did post that she donated, people would think she is showing off and just doing it to make herself look good, but if she doesn't post about it, people would assume she didn't donate at all, and that she hasn't done enough. i guess her donations are only valid if she chooses to broadcast it to the world.

Seems like all the celebs are getting the "open your purse" treatment tho. even Ana De Armas

  4.

Oh, thanks for reminding me of the 2% of backlash compared to LDR he's gotten.

    ---

LOL. he got dragged for he's druggy lyrics , associating with Sabrina Claudio, he's collaboration with the racist sweatshirt company & the usher controversy. I mean he's a bigger name & he gets dragged by way more people & music critics.. this also isn't a competition

  5. The difference between the artists Lana mentioned & herself is their music's more appealing to the GP, I don't think its realistically about the lyrics. if she wants to be treated different she should just change her sound. which IMO she's very much fine as she always is

  6. Lana will always be an outsider and I think she's just had that revelation. Not matter how hard she tried playing the game for the last two albums she still wasn't truly good enough for them. She lost AOTY Grammy to a child, someone that literally re-branded and re-packaged Rey's style for a younger generation. That must've fucking hurt.

To top it off she had a female critic imply that she suffered some sort of abuse as a child. Like who the fuck dose that. Do you think she would have said that if Lana was a man?

I still don't get the "Lana paved the way" issues. Lana & Billie are 2 different artist with 2 different sounds.. also Billie's biggest "influence" was Aurora .Lana was one of many artist she was inspired by.. I think people are biased lol

  7. Exactly this :lmao: Abel is the male equivalent to LDR yet he never faced any fucking criticism. Okay so he can sing about being oh so sorry for putting a woman into a terrible psychological situation but Lanz can't sing from the woman POV? :rip: Jesus Christ. Yes. Twitter stans are sick in the head. Also I read a post about how Twitter stans get so mad when a woman speaks her mind lol...

He was getting backlash for "Lost in the fire" & bruises (from his latest album cover) issue that James Charles brought up

  8. Honeymoon - Lana Del Rey

We could cruise to the blues

    Wilshire Boulevard, if we CHOOSE

    Or whatever you wanna do

    We make the RULES

DAN AUERBACH replied to Lana's Honeymoon track in the song below :

Get Yourself Together - The Black Keys

And I'll do, I'll do whatever you do

You can CHOOSE, make up all the RULES

Lana actually wrote Honeymoon about Dan Auerbach. They were involved in a hot and heavy affair which was hidden from the world. The Italian spaghetti was a distraction from the real affair that was going on Behind The Scenes

God please reunite these 2 musical geniuses and bless us with ULTRAVIOLENCE II :crying4:

    that's interesting, I wonder if it's true

  9. I'm new- I was trying to like a post and it turned to thumbs down. If I hit the thumbs up, does that mean I like it or nah?

I'm confused . I've been clicking on the thumbs to like too the entire time since I made my account

  10. MAC vid's great as a kind of store visual.

    Venice was charming.

    DT's ICONIC

    Fiily/TG well made.

I don't really know what to say about the mini film, but I still loved that HiaB got visuals

Personal fave film works of art:

    Blue Jeans

    West Coast

    Shades of Cool

    Tropico

    Lust For Life

    oddly, Honeymoon

    UV trailer ALONE

I'd say FIILY & The Greatest

But of all her Vidz :

    1: God's & Monsters

    2: Ride

    3: White Mustang

    4: Born to Die

    5: Shades of Cool

  11. I guess this might be kinda creepy but what I like about Lana's music is that it's easy to link the lyrics back to real people/experiences. Then again, nearly all of the people she's dated in the past ten years were public figures so there's that. Still, it makes the music so much more heartfelt and personal as a fan.

Let's see what you got this time around Lana!

    I agree

  12. I assuming everyone here are huge Lana fans lol duh. But what other musicians or artists are you hard core massive fans of? Also before you knew Lana existed, who was your all time favorite artist?

My favorite artists are Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Janis Ian, Nina Simone, Carol king, Kurt Cobain, Marilyn Manson, Jim Morrison.

When I was little my favorite artist was Janis Joplin, then Amy Winehouse, then Lana Del Rey.

I was just curious about who inspires you guys the most.

I've got diverse music taste from AC/DC to Rosalia to Stefflon Don to Davido to Solid Stone to Gunna. however I love listening to 80s music.. I've also got Alot of electronic music
