Hi friends, I released my fourth song today, called “black tunnel.” It’s my ode to 90s alternative with a shoegaze-inspired chorus. I’d be honored if anyone wants to give it a listen or save: https://heddy.lnk.to/blacktunnel

It’s about how my mental health often causes me to isolate myself and lose touch with people, only to see them again in the grocery store or in my dreams. I am a published poet and I took my pen game really seriously and I’m so proud of how it turned out. The more personal story behind it, for anyone bored and reading this, is that I had a group of friends in high school who basically kept me around to make fun of me. I was a mega-square because my extended family experience addiction and I wanted zero chance at that kind of life, and people could be mean about that. I adopted ann ego complex I used as a shield to feel better than the people who hurt me, or important somehow. But after we lost touch, I realized I had been the punchline and that it wasn’t my fault for losing touch, because they never had my best interest at heart. The verses are the longing, regret, and isolation, and the chorus is that latent anger…

    here’s the lyrics:

There’s a crystal ball inside the walls

It tells me what to do

I see the signs, divine the cards

    Still can’t follow through

And you ask me how I’ve been

A crown of thorns, sad coronation

    Maybe I’ll tell you sometime

    Look out for the invitation

Black tunnel, I spin alone, alone

No one shows to the party

I catch the light, I treat you right

    Still I’m barely a memory

Stick that needle in my eye

    Oh I tried, I tried, I tried, I tried

You can tell it straight to your mother

    I died, I died, I died, I died

Sometimes what it comes down to

Is you can’t shake me, I can’t shake the blues

    My golden dreams, vanilla cream

    Are streaming through the stereo

If only I could swim right through

that astral plane out the window

And I ask you how you’ve been

A toothy grin, a sore performance

    Maybe I’ll see you again

In shopping aisles or in the dreamcast

Black tunnel, I pray alone, alone

    On my knees, superstition

Please catch the light, treat me right

    Signed your vague apparition

Stick that needle in my eye

    Oh I tried, I tried, I tried, I tried

You can tell it straight to your mother

    I died, I died, I died, I died

Sometimes what it comes down to

Is you can’t shake me, I can’t shake the blues

    Spill this vaulted heart

    Full of talismans and reminiscence

    I’ll stay wild of mind

    Abstemious, reading Dionysus

Stick that needle in my eye

You can tell it straight to your mother

Sometimes what it comes down to

Is you can’t shake me, I can’t shake the blues

    This is brilliant !!! 👏👏👏

I have no idea, Maybe she’s going through some stuff during this custody battle? I think she just likes holding onto unreleased stuff

It doesn’t make sense to shoot all these music vidoes , have beautiful visuals and then lock them away. 🥹  But what am I talking about . This is a Lana del Rey forum , queen of unreleased stuff .

The way I just finished watching TR the cradle of life, Mind you those sound effects.

Then go to YouTube & So Heavy’s video is out!

    :paris:

I love that movie ! And I love the music video . Do we know why she kept those videos unreleased ? It’s super bizarre to me since the visuals are amazing !

Your Girl for sure, but I know it’s because of my “peculiar tastes”: I often don’t care that much for Lizzy tracks or unfinished songs (that’s why I don’t care that much for Dark City or Sugary Sweet :oopna:)

The end of this new version of Your Girl is just :burn:

The chorus of the new version hits like the chorus of west coast 🔥🔥🔥

So, this is my first time mastering/remastering like, anything. I'm not an audio expert neither do I know any music theory or audio engineering language, so I need you guys' honest opinions about this attempt of mine at mastering Come With Me. Does is sound any better? Is there anything I should do to improve it?

I love how tied it sounds , but the source material is not Ultra HD if you like , so you would have to mask the higher frequencies with more base . Good job !

The songs that song Rick did on NFR are the least listened to on that album. The majority of people also don’t seem to care that much about Yosemite or Cherry Blossom. Yes to Heaven was an outlier since it had already blown up on Tik Tok before it was even released, so it was kind of guaranteed to chart. It doesn’t matter what producer she works with, if her songs aren’t promoted and released at the beginning of a tracking week.

    People  don’t care about Yosemite ? 🥲

Ever since it’s release it remains as my favourite song . No song from BB or tunnel took its place .

Probably unpopular, but I don’t want a visual album: MV aren’t as huge as they used to be for any artist (even artists who were doing many with each era are now significantly downsizing their number and scope) and labels pretty much don’t know what to do with them, in their promo campaigns. In our constant need of something new, an artist’s era can’t drag on for two years like it used to and having lots of MVs for an era would only do that.

From a Lana POV, let’s all remember how long it took for Tropico to be made :tsk: For a visual album to have impact, it needs to be bold and released when the album is out. Plus with her latest comment on IG, I doubt Interscope will allow her to have lots of costly mvs for the next eras :tsk: (which is a shame because she served us some of her best mvs in the last two years).

Ride and national anthem disagree .

    Disagree. She's a human. Not a robot.

People wait for all kinds of services for 30 minutes or more - what's the big deal? You go to a doctor but they're slammed and ask you to wait. You wait. You go to have your hair done and the hairdresser wants to have a smoke because they've had the crappiest day. You let them have it. You go to a rock concert and the band shows up a bit later so you grab a fucking beer and chill.

God, I wish everyone would just take their sticks out of their asses. The constant whining about celebrities not being PERFECT 24/7 is insane. I bet every one of those people who complains about Lana is routinely late 30 minutes or more to everything in their life, including showing up for work in the morning. Would bet my life on it.

If you start showing up for work 30 minutes late every time you’ll get fired simple as that . I am not defending or attacking her . It is what it is .  It’s not something to adore but it’s not something to complain about all the time .

Hi. It is exploring the "why" of this phenomenon which I believe is due to numerous psychological biases. Of course people prefer music based on their perceived quality. But there's a deeper conversation regarding perception and reality (sugar pills, Soviet nostalgia, designer shoes prank etc.) Why do we have preference? To what degree is it influenced by nature? How aware are we of our biases? Etc. Even some members here have expressed experiencing or resonating Unreleased Syndrome.

I haven't found anything in Lana's unreleased music even by the most objective measures fans would find themselves preferring it. Of course I am open to the idea fans just think the unreleased music is better. I understand some are feeling that way. But I really don't think the explanation is accurate or with context. Lana has had a very long history with leaks and I think this has impacted how fans percieve her music as well. I also think I am lacking the right verbage for this topic. Other users have touched up upon my point a bit swiftly. But... without a proper study it's just an idea and discussion though.

Got it . Thanks for clarifying this a bit . And I do agree on many aspects .

I also have a question about post NFR stans and how biased they are but I won't drop the bomb because it will get messy.

Your comment is reflective of the bias people have I am talking about. Similar to a placebo or the fake luxury shoes, people are not aware of their impressions and preferences. In your example someone can take a sugar pill and say "The pill made my headache go away, there is nothing to it." But of course this is a psychological effect and not reality. That's also why I mentioned the controlled study. Human bias is very real and has scientific backing.

Why is so strange for you to understand that some people prefer the demos for various reasons( better lyrics , better production ) and you have to call it a bias?

EDIT after reading many posts : Yes there is clearly an unreleased syndrome because most people are always thinking of what if and what they could get but that does not change the fact that the majority of the leaked demos are superior to released songs  (at least for me ):

    Summer Time

    Pink Champaign

    I Talk To Jesus

    Sad Girl Demo

    Architecture

    Lust For Life

    Madly

    If I Die Young

    Valley Of The Dolls

    Lolita Demo

    Nation Anthem Demo

And the list goes on .

The songs I have mentioned here, I prefer them over other released songs because of many reasons . It's not always about shoes , trust me :D .
