if you guys could pick 3 released songs to represent what you’d like the next album to sound like, what would you pick? :flutter: i’m gonna say West Coast, Taco Truck x VB and Grandfather

edit: yes i’m a libra moon and libra rising was it my absolute avoidance of the conflict surrounding me and pretending everything’s normal that gave it away

I listened to all of Paradise (album) today, so that. But also I feel that album does not get enough love for how glamorous, cinematic, and poetic it is. I want more old poetry references/inspiration.

    The reas

Whilst it would be very Lana like to do something just to be mysterious,  I honestly think she deleted her insta because she has a bad habit of reading negative comments that bother her, she has a sensitive personality.  She thinks if she deletes it she won’t be tempted to read all the nonsense about her…but people will write crap regardless of what she does, it’s too late for obscurity now she’s this popular.

But wouldn't we all. Its hard to be strong. And thats why she is relatable.

Have u watched the new season of black mirror? (Its one of the weaker episodes im referencing) but let her be the werewolf to all the criticism w silence.

Lana doesn’t seem to realise it doesn’t matter if she is on social media or not it won’t stop her being famous or getting lots of attention, her streaming numbers show she’s a big artist now. Not some unknown singer.  She wants to keep things low key, but it’s never gonna happen this is her life now.  So in my opinion she should quit the fucking around trying to hide it’s a waste of time.  Whatever happens photos are gonna be taken of her and she’d gonna be plastered on someone else’s socials.

But the thing is, is that we don't know her reasoning for leaving, really.

In my opinion, which coincides with yours, is that her aesthetic is so norm-core, that this does just contribute to her popularity. There is now more want with her mystery. She is a cult leader. She cannot escape us.....(respectfully).

    My questions are:

    1. what is a “cinematic” writing? Can you give me examples please?

    2. why do people say Lana’s writing has changed? Can you give examples please?

    3. what is “world building”? Can you give me examples (I just feel like Blue Banisters title song, for example, also builds a world and therefore is cinematic :um3:)

I don't know if writing can be 'cinematic', but production wise cinematic would (in my opinion) be heavy orchestra/ build up and drops in general. Born To Die is cinematic with instrumentals, that violin in Ride, Yonge and Beautiful, a lot of her earlier material I would consider more cinematic, as she currently leans more into piano/acoustic/voice driven songs.

Her writing has changed in that it is more diaristic, more wordy, and more in her present thought. It leans heavier on meaning rather than quick hooks or "bops" production wise.

Tbh she has been world building and changing since 2012. You cannot speak about music in  2012 without referencing Lanas impact. She paved the way for a lot of artists to speak vulnerably about there feelings while seeming "unfeminist". When she came about, it was in a climate of "strong females" like Adele, Lorde, and Florence. And in comparison, the media wiped the floor with her for being so vulnerable and "unfeminist" for purely writing songs about her life experiences/ being weak without her man/ being emotionally and physically abused. And 10 years later they call her a visionary. My opinion is that the media was actually unfeminist in trying to silence her by reducing her to glamorizing her pain.

tbh that comment pisses me off so much cause i think one of the main reasons she deactivated her main was to escape the hate and have an account with only fans and love. i don’t want her to leave honeymoon cause people will start hating on that account too

whoops nvm it was on the lb account

Ok but American Horror Story, they also do a depiction of the back dalhia?? Any crime series ever dramatizing and profitong off of famous murders??????

not Jon Batiste last insta story 😭

I love this! Jon batiste interlude reminds me of my fave t Beatles album, Let it Be. Cause they have comments/words at the beginning and end of songs, which is maybe the beginning of the concept of an interlude - which makes u feel like u are sharing the moment with them, and their inside jokes, present with them.

I can’t understand why anyone would be put out by Lana referencing the Black Dahlia murder—which is over 75 years old—except the Elizabeth Short cultists, who, in my experience, tend to be feminists. And they don’t own the case, the crime, the myth, or the memory of ES. So many books, movies, television episodes, songs, etc have taken inspiration from that case—and except for the ES cultists, who seem half out of their minds, no one cares. On the contrary, there’s usually a great deal

of positive public interest in anything to do with the case or inspired by it.

Short of Lana showing a mock up of herself severed at the waist and facially mutilated, I can’t think of anything she could do that could offend a reasonable person or be in ‘bad taste.’

    Exactly!

Even with the criticisms of her romanticizing domestic abuse. Literally ever episode of any crime drama ever. People just chronically online looking for something to write about.

my mother looking for ways to get massively canceled a second time :flutter:

I actually love this reference. And in Violets for roses about masks off. And when she references vaping. Mom is documenting history.

When she is studied in like 100 years, it will be like me when i was in English university classes trying to understand concepts of different periods

Same here! I'd been BEGGING for a collab between the two of them since like... 2014 or around the time ILYH came out and then he popped up in the Freak video and then we got Coachella which was about being at a show of his with his wife in the crowd and then all interaction seemed to stop.... until LAST YEAR AND THEN WE TRULY ATE THIS YEAR :beyonce:

It makes me wonder if she is still close with his wife emma!

(I also find myself wondering if she is still close with Stella or Jamie King -random i know)

Let the light in seems like such a classic Lana track. It's cinematic, the melody is very beatles-y, very 60s/70s. It's just so fucking good. If she did more songs like it on the next album i'd be absolutely happy. It seems like what LFL should've been, Tomorrow Never Came. I like that song just fine, but this seems like a more perfected sound like that.

    Yes!

I hear the similarities between Let the light in and tomorrow never came, but i just think FJM is more charismatic and thats what made Let the light in better. I also feel there are so many similarities between this album and FJM's writing tyle in general. And im loving it as a huge FMJ fan myself!

It could be her choice, too. She's gotten older and maybe she realizes keeping family around is more important, even if that doesn't include her mother. Her sister has been more included as time goes on and even her brother. But Rob always has seemed to be supportive of her from the beginning. I remember the UV shows, fans would show up to a sold out show and as far as I remember, he'd bought some tickets to hand out. It's also interesting that she refers to him as Rob sometimes, then sometimes dad.

I don't think it'd be his choice if he wasn't present in her life, successful as Lana has become or not. I think that'd be a choice Lana would make. If Patty had the choice, I'm sure Lana would be more present in her life but I don't think Lana wants to be, so Patty isn't in hers. The same would go for Rob too.

Also, sometimes one parent makes decisions for their kids without consideration of the other parent. It's clear Lana doesn't like talking about Patty around Rob so his relationship with Patty might not be very good, if they have any relationship these days at all. Maybe he's sided with Lana over things that her mom did and they were out of his control. "My father never stepped in when his wife would rage at me."

    Oh for sure!

I just know, personally, that when that one person you have been forever trying to impress and "earn" their love (toxically), and then they make room for you and make u their priority, you will do anything to make them apart of your life

i doubt it, it seems like they were close even before lana was famous, she often attended the T.R.A.F.F.I.C meetings that he attended

I can appreciate this! I may be dragging my own daddy issues story into my feelings.. lol

  13. This is super assuming and asshole-ish of me to think, but does anyone else ever think that if lana didn't become as successful as she has, Rob may not be as present in her life? Like i know i know nothing. But it just seems to me he has become more present in her life as her success has grown...

This is all purely based on the media i see. Dont come for me
