  1. The production is impeccable are you kidding. Y’all deaf

I wouldn't say the production is "bad" per se. It's just a bit sterile. Not really taking any risks sonically, which isn't always necessary. But it doesn't sound very distinct. Like it could have been given to any other artist and I would've never thought anything of it. I wouldn't have hated it but I wouldn't have gone out of my way to listen to it. I wonder if a lot of us who've listened to L+F would revisit the album if it wasn't a Marina one.

  2.

Perhaps she changed her mind about the book cover. I did mention earlier that the fruits painted on it, look more like "lemons" rather than "oranges".

Some people might think that the Lemon is the sign of something being bad.   No , it is not.  I love lemons. I love lemon tea ! Its a beautiful happy colored fruit.

Full of vitamin C and energy. The sun is yellow too!  Full of life and warmth and energy to give.

Idk why but this is the most positive description of a lemon I've ever heard.

  3. just a little something..

I'm sure we're all struggling our way through this crisis but music and Lana are some of many things that keep us positive.

I found this performance of video games from 2011 that isn't on youtube so is probably quite unknown but I think is one of her best - so clear and beautiful.

Made me so sad to listen/watch, very nostalgic  :poordat:

    This is spellbinding

  4. I'm listening to the podcast rather than the Netflix show, and so far I would say it's a bit more factual and a bit less speculation. I find Netflix documentaries often focus on the aspects most likely to cause shock value, rather than the actual facts. They're entertaining definitely, but I personally prefer when all the little details are mentioned. So yeah, the podcast seems a bit more rooted in reality but still riveting. Also, I watched Don't F***k with cats a while ago and I noticed the same thing, after doing some of my own research into the case there were so much they missed out, they mainly just focused on the perspective of the Facebook group without mentioning that much of what they did actually encouraged the killer, and it was only because he explicitly contacted them on FB that they ever found him.

  5. I've been a Marina fan since I was 9, so that's nearly 10 years now. I have to agree with people's critiques of L+F. It just felt so hollow and lifeless in comparison to the rest of her discog. Even though TFJ was raw and unpolished, it had a unique charm to it and a strong identitiy. Electra Heart told a strong story and the archetypes were more psychologically perceptive than anything on L+F- I remember the strong impact that album had on me. It created a sort of dark world, like Hollywood's underbelly and was a significant pop culture moment for Marina. And then Froot- although it's not everyone's favorite, I think most people can agree that the production was more complex and captivating than L+F. After hearing HH, and having been so long without any new music, I was so excited at the prospect of a new era. And then came SS and OT. I had a bit of a sinking feeling, but I told myself that perhaps fear would carry a more multifaceted, dark introspectiveness. And then I heard Life is strange, no more suckers (you mess up my towels...). I felt so let down. I felt like I had no idea who Marina even was anymore. I did have tickets to see her (mainly just got them for Allie X tbh) but got the flu, so I couldn't make it. It felt like fate as I knew in the back of my mind I would compare it to her past shows, and wouldn't fully enjoy it. Especially after having been to a Charli show a week before, the energy just wouldn't have been there.

Now, Marina's music will always be important to me and I don't want to criticize her evolving sonic preferences. None of her other albums sound the same, but they all sound like Marina. But L+F doesn't even sound like Marina, it sounds like someone who's searching for their identity and unsure whether they want to created something that will please others (label perhaps?) or themselves.

I hope her new album might be something a bit more authentic. Whatever she wants to make, if her heart is in it I'll listen. Just with L+F, I didn't hear any of the passion I had come to know of Marina.
