  1. Who’s the guy next to her?
  2. She looks so good. Giving me early Autumn vibes which is actually something I feel like when I’m listening to the singles + Thunder.

So embarrassing. Imagine going to the Antarctic and bootleg Natasha Bedingfield/Sheryl Crow is the music you choose to make. See you in 4 years, Lordie.

As a Gemini, I’m completely obsessed with this comment ily.
  6. I really love the production in the verses of Text Book but the chorus is kinda... boring.
  7. LOL well Lana did explore trip-hop in more than just BTD. It permeates through a lot of Ultraviolence (hence the Portishead callbacks and comparisons!) and she even returned to explore some shades of that sub genre with Dark But Just a Game. Also, that Girl From Ipanema comment is so unnecessarily condescending and salty...
  8. I’m willing to die on this Billie Bossa Nova hill. Makes me wonder if I could ever handle Lana doing bossa nova without gay-collapsing. With that said, some of her best songs ever are in this album. I Didn’t Change My Number, Oxytocin, Overheated... even the title track which even though doesn’t exactly tingle my senses due to the genre, it’s still a huge statement. The album is a bit bloated. I would have removed My Future, Therefore I Am and a couple more and bet on a more cohesive tracklist order. Thematically it doesn’t make sense to go from something like I Didn’t Change My Number to Billie Bossa Nova to My Future... it’s a confusing back and forth in terms of themes and this album would have benefited from a stronger pulse on thematic cohesion. All in all, there are incredible moments here and some production choices that no one else in the game would even dare to experiment. As personal and touching of a subject Your Power is to her heart, choosing it as the lead single was not a wise marketing move. Had she come up with something more bombastic (Oxytocin maybe?) as the inauguration of the era, it would have made more of an impact in the pop culture landscape. It’s great that she’s breaking records in terms of pre album sales but I believe that’s a testament to her huge and loyal fandom more so than anything else.
  9. Billie Bossa Nova is the best moment of her career. Even better than Bitches Broken Hearts. I’m speechless. Will share my thoughts later.

    She’s producing for Uzi?
  11. BOZ said the title of the song comes exactly after the moment the snippet ended... so I don’t think we have any real hint yet.
  12. Going through a break-up right now. Tough one. I need new Lana music asap.

    Song vs. Song

    Pawnshop Blues vs. Backfire.
  14. Haven’t listened to Disco in such a long while and damn... it kinda does have a Nirvana feel to it, specially in the verses. I hope BB has this type of energy. Something kinda eerie, timeless.

You didn’t just straight out lie, I wish you would.
  16. Omg if she went blonde again, I’m gonna die. I’ve always been sour that her blonde Chemtrails aesthetic (from that specific hairstyle she’d always use to the Neil Krug photoshoot) was so profoundly under explored and under appreciated.
  17. Honeymoon is the perfect example of a halfway point between intimacy and grandiosity. I love Chemtrails but I know I do because I love Lana first; it does feel like her laziest effort to date and it shows.
  18. I know we must respect her process and artistic choices but I’ll riot if Thunder is turned into a piano ballad. That’s where I draw the line.

You never heard that from me. I love BB and specially WW but I’m not a fan of TB at all (even though I don’t hate it either) but honestly that’s not even relevant to the discussion - I only compared this to NFR and Folklore because all 3 projects share the exact same producer and it’s becoming crystal clear how generic his trademark production has become, to the point where it’s impossible not to trace parallels. Lana is going in a different direction with BB while Lorde is going for something more sparse and similar to other projects by other artists which I find a bit pitiful since what attracts me the most about her is how singular her previous two records are. I don’t want pop-driven bops or club bangers from Lorde; I do however expect some bite, sonically and specially lyrically. California has none for me and I think it’s valid for me to feel that way about her recent output. If you wanna look at my opinion as an exaggeration that’s fine by me but at the end of the day, it’s just my opinion.

What is this bootleg NFR/Folklore? Lorde is one of my main girls and I love her to death but this ain’t it. Lyrically it’s below everything she has ever done and musically this sounds tepid, boring and uneventful. The instrumentals are plain and unimaginative and go nowhere. Plus, they kick at such an odd time at the beginning of the song... it sounds like a huge NFR stan just decided to make a homemade song on some free trial website where you can make your own beats or something. I’ve never hated a Lorde song ever before but... damn. This might be the first one to do it. I blame Jack for all of this. Someone close his casket.
  21. It's not one of those phases I'm going through Or just a song, it's not one of them I'm on my own On my own On my own again I'm on my own again... VS Club queen on the downtown scene Prowling around at night You’re not mean, you just want to be seen Want to be wild
  22. Good God isn’t a good album title lmao. Rock Candy Sweet remains the most iconic so far.
