love that she went more in depth on kintsugi's lyricism. it's amazing that she can write about things that are so deeply personal to her but still capture such a wide audience with it

Yesss! I was always confused on the meaning of that particular couple of lines “clutch of the wrist…” and this puts it all into perspective. I know she doesn’t want to talk about the meaning behind her songs or lyrics but I’d die to get all the backstories and little details that inspired her music throughout her career.

sidenote: I love how cheeky she got when she asked the interviewer about asking her messy questions like if she was married, she’s very playful!

Honestly, as a West Virginian, I can't stand this song. The song writer wrote it about another state and hadn't even been to WV. I know Lana covered it before playing Charleston, but I just wanna say that Charleston is like the richest part of the state and not even a full reflection of the state. I was annoyed she chose to play rich West Virginia and not in a real city or town in the state. I uhhh think Lana sounded good on this cover, I just get annoyed with the fetishizing of the state, when in fact it's poor and it's definitely in trouble, and Charleston does nothing to help. Lana playing Charleston and donating the money to Charleston really made me feel distance from stanning Lana. Lana covering this song made me feel distance too. My state needs help and not to be fetishized. Xoxo.

girl … you need to talk to your local politicians not some celebrity who probably played in a town that had the infrastructure (and I don’t mean just the venue) for her to safely put on a show for her audience. Covering this popular song is not fetishizing, she just loves it and it’s an American classic that’s popular globally.

After pondering this for a long time, I think that American Whore would have been a much better album title. It would be super iconic and fit the album better. Of course I get why she didn't go with that - it's too vulgar, but the current title doesn't really capture the album's essence imo.

american whore would not have been the better title and it’s not because of vulgarity in my opinion. the themes of the album expand past just  sex or being an “american whore.” i think the current tunnel encapsulates the ideas expressed in the album well and i also loved the theory of the album kind of being like a journey through a tunnel, making your way to the light at the end (with it being very dark in the middle)

  4. OMG idk if anyone brought this up already but what if Dark Paradise is about Aaron Greene? I just realized the lyrical parallels between the pre chorus of dark paradise and her singing about Aaron in fingertips. In Dark Paradise Lana sings:

And there's no remedy for memory, your face is like a melody
    It won't leave my head
Your soul is haunting me and telling me that everything is fine
But I wish I was dead (dead, like you)

    in fingertips, lana revealed how:

Aaron ended up dead and not me”

So what if the person Lana is grieving in Dark Paradise Aaron? Someone tell me if I’m being delusional 😭

what confuses me is how some of the critics used that line

      Reveal hidden contents

"what kind of mother was she to say I'd end up in institutions?"

directly in their reviews.... i mean, sure, i get you can pretty easily assume it's her mother considering she's been talking heavily about family already ++ the 'she' pronoun but like DAMN you really do not hear it all so unless they had a lyrics sheet or the "demo"/leak version, they're kinda bold

maybe she censored it on streaming but it’s still uncensored on physical versions of the album? can anyone check?

This is reminding me of how the NFR cover on streaming has a black bar on the left side and it never got fixed after all these years lmao the people she works with really don't give a fuck about details. Didn't they also make some typos on the tracklists of some of the vinyls?

what streaming service are you guys listening on? i cant hear any of the cracking or weird noises ppl are talking about when i listen on apple music with my airpods

i love this new album but it does kind of make me sad that from interviews it seems like (at this point) she never wants to go back to her original "grander" styles of music :um2:

i mean it’s interesting because in that extra write up by the girl who did the rolling stones interview, she revealed that the instrumentals to BTD sounded completely different before emile haynie worked on it, much more pop production that she expected, so i wonder what sound she was initially going for

Have not really listened to the full album yet, but I skipped thorough the leaks and I have tge feeling that I will belong to the minoroty on here who prefers the first half of the album.

Fishtails does nothing for me. Kinda disappointed after seeing it being hyped af here. Lyrics are nice but the trap stuff fails to excite me. It lacks the elegamce of Freak/ CG/ TJF in my opinion.

On the other hand, I did not have high expectations for Candy Necklace and it turned out to be one of my favs

    Spoiler

i feel the same way. i think the last 4 are my least favorite from the record with fishtail being the worst offender (personal taste). i said this when the entire album first leaked and was told i don’t appreciate hot and sexy bops 💀 cherry, tulsa, and freak were slutty boos that were much better executed imo
