these reviews are triggering me man… cause i know damn well these critics did not sit and actually take time to listen, and RELISTEN to the music. instead their publications are probably rushing them to push out the “first” review to gain $$$ - so of course they’re skipping over the narratives. Half-assing their work i swear.

Gosh this talk makes me want a Gorillaz X Lana Del Rey collab after hearing how crazy and experimental 🌶️ sounds. I’m surprised she hasn’t featured onto an album with them. Like she has worked with Damon Albarn in the past for Bobby Womacks album for ‘Dayglo Reflections’. … Although I will say Damon Albarn seems pretentious at times (considering his comments on Taylor Swift)…

Lmao I took a huge ass nap right after work and plugged in The Grants to calm myself right after my work meeting and repeated that shiiit… and like hours later i was awakened by the sunset in my eyes and while the gospel chorus part at the end of the song. I kid you not I felt like I was being enlightened by Gods presence lmao. I’m not even religious like that but shit was surreal. i’m partially high so that’s probably why

I mean if I’m going to be honest, I am a bit worried about cohesiveness, because that’s just my personal preference/taste - having an album where majority of the songs feel like they belong together. I think that’s why I liked Blue Banisters and Lust For Life a bit lesser than the other projects because they both felt like mixtapes to me. For those critics, I could care less about what they would have to say. That’s because I hold a strong bias on appreciating Lana’s work already lol. Also, sometimes critics just don’t get it because they don’t understand the lore or Lana and her story… Who knows, maybe they will all sound sonically different BUT tackle the deeper story Lana is trying to tell us to create a “cohesive” body? Can’t wait to hear it in full, and see what she has to share w us

Idk I quite like Jack Antonoff’s collaborations better than those LFL and earlier (writing-wise). I’m personally not in that “world building” phase anymore (BTD-HM (and some of LFL)) and I like the very intimate and very personal diaristic writing approach Lana is currently doing. Like Lana is allowing us to know her story! That’s amazing and brave of her to do! I also feel like Jack brings such a good mood to her writing process, this also helps with her music making. Like Lana said, I think Jack really understands women, that’s why a bunch of female-artists within the music industry love working with Jack. She obviously said that for a reason compared to her past working processes. One critique I will say about Jack is that it’s very apparent when it’s HIS production. Like the back end of A&W, I’ve heard very similarities in beats reused with Lorde and Taylor’s work. Those hi-hats didn’t really sound that great to me
