It's definitely "blue ribbons on ice." She's singing a song about hanging around boys and boys like beer so she likes beer because she likes boys and she's obviously just giving us imagery of a hangout scenario with said boys.

I think it depends on who is doing the producing. Because Dan Auerbach produced UV and I think that's why it had a darker feel. Not to say her songs weren't like that already I just think visually he helped give it more of that rock feel. Opposed to the other albums that are so glamorous.

This is one of my all time favorite songs and I really only started listening to it a month ago. I got really hooked on Lana right before Ultraviolence came out and after that there was no return. So now as I come across older music I fall more and more in love and find that there is more and more she can sing about that I can relate to. Anyways, Bravo with this song Lana. Xx

I meant one more on top of the two we have. I really hope so. It makes me sad to think HM could produce less videos than UV

You said I was the most exotic flower
Holding me tight in our final hour
I don't know how you convince them and get them
But I don't know what you do, it's unbelievable
And I don't know how you get over, get over
Someone as dangerous, tainted, and flawed as you
One for the money, two for the show
I love you honey, I'm ready, I'm ready to go
How did you get that way?
I don't know
You're screwed up and brilliant
Look like a million dollar man
So why is my heart broke?
You've got the world, but baby at what price?
Something so strange, hard to define
It isn't that hard boy, to like you or love you
I'd follow you down, down, down
You're unbelievable
If you're going crazy just grab me and take me
I'd follow you down, down, down
Anywhere, anywhere
One for the money, two for the show
I love you honey, I'm ready, I'm ready to go
How did you get that way?
I don't know
You're screwed up and brilliant
Look like a million dollar man
So why is my heart broke?
(x2)
I don't know
You're screwed up and brilliant
Look like a million dollar man
So why is my heart broke?

My gangsta boy!
I don’t care if you’re going to prison
I wouldn’t say I l-loved you if I didn’t
I can't cheat cause I know what I’m missing
Boop-boop-boopty-doo
I won’t play cause I’m already winning
Kissing your lips, hot-hot like I’m sinning
High school, loved you from the beginning
Boop-boop-boopty-doo
I want you, you, you, by my swimming pool
You, you, you, that would be so cool
You’re my gangsta boy
You’re my gangsta boy
'Cause you’re my favourite toy
You’re my favourite toy
Get you out, get you up
No, I’ll never ever stop
You’re my gangsta boy
You’re my gangsta boy
(My gangsta boy)
I don’t care what my girls and my mama
Say about you, bad boy, I like the drama
We can ditch ‘em all while you’re out, if you wanna
Boop-boop-boopty-doo
Like your leather and your long hair, honey-honey
You can bring your love and baby, I got the money
Love you baby boy, like I never loved nobody
Boop-boop-boopty-doo
I want you, you, you, by my swimming pool
You, you, you, that would be so cool
You’re my gangsta boy
You’re my gangsta boy
'Cause you’re my favourite toy
You’re my favourite toy
Get you out, get you up
No, I’ll never ever stop
You’re my gangsta boy
You’re my gangsta boy
(My gangsta boy)
Summer’s almost over, baby
Everybody thinks I’m crazy
I could have it all
But it means nothing without you
Boy, I’ve been so lonely lately
I’ll never get tired of waiting
I could have the world
But it means nothing without you
You’re my gangsta boy
You’re my gangsta boy
Cause you’re my favourite toy
You’re my favourite toy
I want you, you, you, by my swimming pool
You, you, you, that would be so cool
You’re my gangsta boy
You’re my gangsta boy
'Cause you’re my favourite toy
You’re my favourite toy
Get you out, get you up
No, I’ll never ever stop
You’re my gangsta boy
You’re my gangsta boy
(My gangsta boy) x2

everytime i think i got lana figured out, she does something like this. i thought she was kinda a poseur with all this lit stuff -- she never seemed that knowledgable about her so-called "inspirations" -- but i mean this isnt even a popular poem by Eliot. its a little tidbit. i guess she's just not a fan of exhibiting all her bookshness/knowledge to the public ya know?

I agree more with the interpretations stating that this song is directed to Lana herself. I highly doubt this song is about Azaelia at all. I feel like Lana is speaking to a past version of herself, back in her wilder days. This would also make sense considering this song comes directly after Freak, where Lana says "looking back, my past, it all seems stranger than a stranger." It's quite possible that perhaps Lana positioned Art Deco after Freak because of this lyric, she is foreshadowing the fact that she is about to look back at her past. Art Deco to me seems like a critique of her own personal life. I don't think that Lana and Azaelia are even that close honestly, especially considering that Lana often considers her relationships to be more than what they really are (there are rumours Lana never even dated Jimmy Gnecco, and she just admired him so much that she wrote a plethora of intimate songs about him) & that Azaelia tweeted quite recently in reply to a fan who was asking whether she is still friends with Lana: "I think we're friends?" (paraphrased). I doubt Lana would write such a personal song about someone she doesn't even know that well.
IF this song is indeed about AB, however, then I feel like a lot of the lyrics are still more related to Lana more than anything. What Lana often does is sing songs seemingly about other people, for example, Carmen, Lolita, The Other Woman, among many others, that appear to be about someone other than Lana, but are more recalls of her own life. From a psychological viewpoint, this is a defence mechanism of the ego called projection. She projects her own undesirable stories and personality traits onto other people or characters. In this case, it could be quite likely that she wrote this song about Azaelia, but is applying traits to her that she really struggles to accept about herself. For example, the lyric "they all say hello, you try to ignore them", could be about how Lana detaches herself from others to maintain a satisfactory level of privacy and to profess a certain level of elusiveness. But because Lana doesn't really want to admit that this is a part of her own personality, she projects it onto someone else, in this case, AB (if the song is about her). Regardless of who this person/character is, Lana pretends to direct the song to someone other than herself. "YOU'RE so art. YOU'RE looking to score" etc. It's quite possible she's really talking to herself about her own past & personality.

C'mon you guys, "rapper's delight"? It's obviously about the granny from The Wedding Singer.
And notice the flower crown? Is Lana just a big rip-off of Ellen Albertini Dow?
(LOL. The troll face kinda looks like her.)

What sort of aesthetics/mood do you think epitomize Lana's different eras/years? For instance, Born to Die was very glamorous and emphasized the fragility and desire of a woman, while Ultraviolence was a lot darker and raw.

Swan Song is my favorite song on the album, followed or perhaps i should say equalled by Blackest Day.
(i would have tightened the drawn out choruses in a bit on Blackest day tho..) Freak is right behind these and
close for me as well.. really great songs..Iconic for me.

I think TBD is kinda trite and kinda extra. Swan Song could've also used some work imo because had the chorus been more explosive, it would've been the best song on the album. :/
