lanadelxcxbanks 23 Posted September 20, 2015 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIg6ubt7Cf0 The most exciting new prodigy to burst from Perth’s fertile electronica scene, KUČKA has been making increasingly bigger waves, making this charmingly unique artist one of Australia’s most talked-about in 2015. KUČKA predictably seduced all who crossed paths with her unique blend of forward-thinking electronica and will be one of only two Australian artists handpicked to attend the Red Bull Music Academy in Paris this year. Her most recent EP "Unconditional" was released in August on Midnight Feature, (a brand new imprint from Inertia), gaining rave reviews across the board. It was eagerly awaited after already having 3 of the singles added to rotation on Triple J in Australia and premieres on the likes of 'Fader', 'Pigeons and Planes' and 'Spin'. The title track also took out the 'WAM Song of the Year' grand prize for 2014.Behind the moniker, Laura Jane Lowther produces her music at home, from found sounds and analog synths, and her vocals are nothing short of mesmerizing. Her live shows are also garnering an obsessive fan-base, including her first headline national tour last year. Recruiting Jake Steele (Injured Ninja, Tobacco Rat, and from the infamous Steele family) on synths and Katie Campbell (Catlips) on live electronic beats, and with the most recent addition of live visuals, KUČKA’s supported the diverse likes of Clark, Factory Floor, SAFIA, Cashmere Cat and Seekae. Plus festivals including St. Jerome’s Laneway, State Of The Art, Angove Street Festival, CoLab Festival (winner of the Triple j comp), Sunday City Limits as part of ARIA Week and is set out to play OutsideIn Festival in late September. This year has also seen KUČKA branch out into collaborative territory with her writing and recording vocals on tracks for Paces, Cosmo's Midnight, Simo Soo and Andrei Eremin. Kinda reminds me of Grimes, she has a really trippy sound and I can't wait to see what she does next. What do you guys think?
